Syksyistä samettia

(FI) Meidän olohuoneen sisustukseen on kuin varkain hiipinyt yhä enemmän trendikästä samettia. Mikään uusi materiaali se ei kodissamme ole, sillä jokunen samettityynynpäällinen meillä on ollut jo useamman vuoden. Nyt kuitenkin sohvalla on lähes pelkästään samettityynyjä ja viimeisimpänä joukkoon liittyivät viikonloppuna samettiset verhot.

Olin miettinyt samettiverhoja jo jokin aikaa ja lopulta päätin kokeilla rohkeasti, kun löysin varsin edulliset vuorilliset valmisverhot. Ihan heti en saanut niitä ikkunaan, sillä verhoissa oli ylhäällä leveät samettiset nauhat ripustusta varten, eikä meillä ole sellaista verhotankoa, johon ne olisi voinut solmia. Viikonloppuna ratkoin samettinauhat irti ja ompelin verhojen nurjalle puolelle rypytysnauhan. Sunnuntai-iltana meillä oli vihdoin uudet verhot ikkunassa.

Verhojen vaihto muutti huoneen tunnelmaa uskomattoman paljon. Toisaalta verhot hieman pienentävät tilaa, mutta toisaalta ne tuovat kivan pesämäistä tunnelmaa. Jos olisin voinut valita värisävyn ihan vapaasti, olisi se saanut olla hieman vaaleampi. Tilassa, jossa ikkunoita on vain yhdellä seinällä, verhot näyttävät paikoillaan selvästi tummemmilta kuin ennen ripustamista. 

Joka tapauksessa verhot toistavat kivasti Iittalan hiekanvärisen Aalto-kulhon ruskeaa sävyä, ja löytyypä samantyyppistä ruskeaa myös yhdestä sohvatyynystä. Sohvapöytää koristaa keittiöstä lainattu orkidea, sillä kukkakauppareissu jäi viikonloppuna tekemättä. Onneksi on näitä kestokukkijoita, jotka näyttävät yhtäkkiä taas yllättävän kivoilta, kun ne siirtää paraatipaikalle.

Onko muualla liikkeellä samettihullaantumista? Ainakin Valkoisen Harmajan Suvi oli ripustanut kotiinsa kauniit samettiverhot, joita pääset kurkkaamaan tästä.

(IT) Il velluto si è aggiunto un po' alla volta nell'arredo del nostro soggiorno. Non è per nulla un materiale nuovo, abbiamo avuto qualche copricuscino in velluto già vari anni fa. Ora peró quasi tutti i cuscini sul divano sono in velluto e come ultima aggiunta sono arrivate le tende in velluto.

È da un po' che pensavo che ci starebbero bene le tende di velluto e poi ho trovato un paio di tende pronte con la fodera. Non ho potuto appenderle subito perché erano fatte con nastri larghi in velluto e noi non abbiamo delle bastoni intorno a cui si possono legare. Il fine settmana ho scucito i nastri e ho cucito un nastro per arricciare dietro le tende. Domenica sera la finestra aveva finalmente le tende nuove.

Cambiare le tende ha cambiato tutta l'atmosfera nella stanza. Da una parte rendono lo spazio più piccolo ma dall'altra parte sembra ora molto più intimo. Se avessi potuto scegliere il colore liberamente avrei preso una sfumatura un po' più chiara. In una stanza con finestre solo su un lato le tende sembrano chiaramente più scure una volta appese.

In ogni caso le tende ripetono in modo simpatico il colore dalla ciotola Aalto color sabbia di Iittala, e quasi lo stesso color si trova anche in uno dei cuscini. Sul tavolo c'è un'orchidea presa dalla cucina, visto che non sono andata dal fioraio questo fine settimana. Meno male ci sono questi fiori permanenti che sembrano all'improvviso belli e freschi quando spostati in un posto diverso del solito.

(EN) Somehow more and more velvet has found its way in our living room interior. It's not a new material in our home, we've had some velvet cushions already for various years. Anyhow, now almost all the cushions on the sofa have velvet covers and the latest addition is a pair of velvet curtains.

I had been thinking of getting velvet curtains for a while and decided to go for them when I found ready-made lined curtains for a nice price. I couldn't hang them right away since they were supposed to be tied up with velvet ribbons and we don't have curtain rods. During the weekend I removed the ribbons and sewed pleating tape behind the curtains. Sunday evening the windows finally had new curtains.

Changing the curtains was a huge change for the mood in the room. On one hand the make the space feel a bit smaller but on the other hand they create a really intimate atmosphere. If I had been able to choose the colour free from limitations I would have taken a bit lighter tone. In a space where there a windows only on one wall the curtains look darker ones they have been hung.

In any case, the curtains repeat the colour of the sand coloured Aalto bowl by Iittala and you can find the same tone also in one of the cushions. On the coffee table there's an orchid I brought here from the kitchen. It's practical to have flowers that bloom continuously, they look surprisingly nice and fresh when you just move them to a different place at home.

Uutta Marimekkoa

(FI) Vaikka olen yleisesti ottaen vähän kyllästynyt mustavalkoisuuteen, ihastuin välittömästi Marimekon uuden kokoelman kuoseihin, ja pari juttua lähti saman tien tilaukseen. Olipa kiva saada tänään paketti Suomesta ja ottaa sen sisältä esiin Spaljé-tyynynpäällinen ja Basket-sarjan muki ja lautanen sekä pari muuta täydennystä meillä jo oleviin astioihin. 

Tein viikolla olohuoneessa jälleen pientä karsimista ja mm. sohvalla ollut lampaantalja lähti jo varastoon. Sohvan yläpuolelle kaipaan uutta taulua, mutta siirsin siihen nyt väliaikaisesti joskus vuosia sitten Roomassa ottamani valokuvan, joka on kooltaan vähän turhan pieni. Katsotaan, jos saisin meidän taiteilijan eli esikoisen hommiin työstämään sopivaa teosta.

Kuluneella viikolla minua ilahdutti myös se, että sain kameraan kauan kaipaamani laajakulmaobjektiivin. Olin vertaillut eri vaihtoehtoja pitkään ja hankinta sen kun siirtyi kuukaudesta toiseen. Lopulta päädyin Canonin varsin edulliseen linssiin, jonka hinta-laatusuhde on saanut kovasti kehuja, ja ensivaikutelma on varsin lupaava! Nyt ei enää tule seinät kuvatessa vastaan, ja olohuoneestakin taitaa laajemman kuvakulman ansiosta saada tilana paremman käsityksen. 

Viikonlopun ohjelmissa meillä on ainakin pizzan paistoa ja Suomi-koulua, ja sunnuntaina olen menossa pitkästä aikaa paikallisten bloggaajien brunssille. Ihmettelen kyllä, kuka valitsi tapaamisen alkamisajankohdaksi aamukymmenen... ;) Mukavaa perjantai-iltaa!

(IT) Anche se mi sono in generale un po' stancata dallo stile tutto in bianco e nero, mi sono subito piaciute le fantasie della nuova collezione di Marimekko e ho fatto un piccolo ordine. È stato molto simpatico ricevere oggi un pacco dalla Finlandia e tirare fuori dalla scatola il copricuscino Spaljé, la tazza e il piatto della serie Basket e un paio di altre stoviglie delle serie precedenti.

Durante la settimana ho tolto un po' di cose dal soggiorno, ho per esempio posato la pelle di pecora che stava sul divano. Vorrei trovare un nuovo quadro da mettere sopra il divano e per il momento ci ho appeso una foto che ho fatto tempo fa a Roma, anche se ha le dimensioni un po' troppo ridotte. Vediamo se riesco a convincere la nostra artista, cioè la primogenita, a dipingere qualcosa di adatto.

Un'altra cosa che ho ricevuto questa settimana e di cui sono molto felice è una lente a grandangolo per la mia macchina fotografica. Ho paragonato i vari modelli a lungo e alla fine ho scelto una lente di Canon che dovrebbe avere un ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Devo dire che la prima impressione è promettente! Ora ho meno problemi quando fotografo negli spazi stretti e credo si capisca meglio per esempio com'è fatto il soggiorno.

Questo fine settimana dovremmo almeno preparare la pizza a casa e andare alla scuola di finlandese. Domenica parteciperò dopo un po' di tempo al brunch dei blogger locali. Mi chiedo solo chi ha deciso che si cominci alle dieci di mattina... ;) Buona serata di venerdì!

(EN) When I saw the new Marimekko collection I was immediately impressed and ordered a couple of things, even though generally speaking I'm a bit tired of all things black and white. It was so nice to get a package from Finland today and take out of the box a Spaljé cushion cover and a cup and plate of the Basket series plus a couple of other dishes.

During the week I removed some things from the living room like the sheepskin we had on the sofa. I would like to have a new picture above the sofa and for the moment I hung there a picture I have taken in Rome years ago, even if the size is a bit too small. Let's see if I manage to have our artist, i.e. our firstborn, to do an artwork that suits the space.

Another thing I received this week and that made me really happy is a new wide-angle lens for my camera. I had looked at different models for months and couldn't decide, but at the end I chose a Canon lens that should have an excellent price-quality ratio. The first impression is in fact really positive. From now on I have less problems in taking pictures in the tight spaces and I think you also get a better idea of the rooms thanks to the wider angle.

The weekend program includes at least preparing pizza at home and going to the Finnish language school. I'm also going to attend a local blogger brunch on Sunday. I just wonder who decided it must start at 10 o'clock on Sunday morning... ;) Have a nice Friday evening!

Sohvapöytähaaste

(FI) Italialainen ystäväni antoi minulle viime vierailullani pienen sisustushaasteen. Hänen upean kotinsa olohuone on ollut jo pitkään vailla sopivaa sohvapöytää, ja minun pitäisi etsiä hänelle muutama sopiva pöytäehdokas. Aikaa on seuraaviin Milanon huonekalumessuihin eli huhtikuulle, joten ihan hyvissä ajoin olen liikkeellä. ;)

Olohuoneen muu sisustus on pitkälti valmis ja koostuu todella laadukkaista valinnoista. Sohva on Piero Lissonin Cassinalle suunnittelema Nest, nojatuoli Toshiyuki Kitan samoin Cassinalle suunnittelema Dodo ja näyttävä lattiavalaisin on Fontana Arten Flûte, design Franco Raggi. Tila jatkuu avoimena vaaleaa puuta, ilmeisesti vaahteraa olevaan keittiöön. Keittiökalusteiden ja olohuoneen välissä on vielä lasikantinen ruokapöytä ja sen ympärillä nojatuoliin sointuvat tuolit, joista näkyy hitunen yhdessä kuvassa. Koko asuntoa hallitsee voimakaskuvioinen laattalattia, joka jatkuu yhtenäisenä tilasta toiseen.

Sohvapöydän suhteen toiveissa on seuraavaa: vaaleaa puuta, joka yhdistyy keittiöön, orgaaninen muoto ja melko pieni koko, jottei tilan avaruus kärsi. Ystäväni pitää lisäksi paljon suomalaisesta designista, astiakaappikin on täynnä Iittalaa ja Marimekkoa. Ajattelin tehdä sopivista pöytäehdokkaista pienen kollaasin ja muutama kiva malli onkin jo mielessä. Yhteistyö on kuitenkin aina voimaa, joten kertokaahan kommenteissa, minkä pöydän te sijoittaisitte tilaan!

(IT) Un'amica italiana mi ha lanciato una piccola sfida di arredamento durante la mia ultima visita. Dalla sua bellissima casa manca da abbastanza tempo un tavolino per il soggiorno e io dovrei cercarle alcuni suggerimenti in materia. Ho tempo fino al prossimo Salone del Mobile a Milano quindi non ancora ho neanche fretta. ;)

L'arredamento del soggiorno è quasi pronto per il resto e consiste in scelte di altissima qualità. Il divano è Nest di Piero Lissoni per Cassina, la poltrona di Toshiyuki Kita è anche quella di Cassina e la lampada da terra è Flûte di Fontana Arte, design Franco Raggi. Lo spazio continua aperto sulla cucina in legno chiaro e tra i mobili di cucina e il soggiorno c'è un tavolo grande con il ripiano di vetro e intorno a quello sedie intonate con la poltrona. Il pavimento in piastrelle bianche e verdi continua in tutto l'appartamento.

Il tavolino dovrebbe avere le seguenti caratteristica: legno chiaro che riprende il materiale della cucina, una forma organica e le dimensioni ridotte per non compromettere la sensazione di spazio. Alla mia amica piace poi tanto il design finlandese, ha tantissime stoviglie di Iittala e Marimekko. Ho l'intenzione di fare un collage con le mie proposte e ho già in mente qualche modello bello. È comunque sempre bene sentire più opinioni quindi chiedo anche a voi: Che tavolino mettereste in questo soggiorno?

(EN) An Italian friend gave me a little interior design challenge the last time I visited her home. The living room of her stunning home has been lacking a coffee table for a long time and I'm supposed to suggest her a few good alternatives. I have time till the next Milan Furniture Fair so I'm not even close to the deadline yet. ;)

The rest of the living room furnishing is pretty much ready and consists in really high quality pieces. The couch is Nest, designed by Piero Lissoni for Cassina, also the Dodo armchair  is by Cassina, design Toshiyuki Kita, and the floor lamp is Flûte, design Franco Raggi for Fontana Art. The open space continues to the kitchen in light wood and between the kitchen cabinets and the living room there's a big table with a glass top and chairs that match the armchair. The green and white tile flooring continues in the whole apartment.

The coffee table should meet the following requirements: it should be in light wood like the kitchen, the shape should be organic and the size should be quite small so that the table doesn't reduce the feeling of space. My friend also loves Finnish design, her kitchen cupboards are full of dishes by Iittala and Marimekko. I'm planning on doing a collage with the suitable candidates and I already have some nice tables in mind. But since it's always a good idea to hear different opinions I'm asking you: Which coffee table would you have in this space?

Talvinen olohuone

(FI) Vaihdoin olohuoneeseen loppuviikosta meidän talvimaton, eli musta-beige-kuvioidun villamaton. Kuvissa matto näyttää jostain syystä aina paljon vaaleammalta kuin on, sillä oikeasti yleisvaikutelma on varsin tumma. Sohvan yläpuolella ollut vihreäsävyinen kukkataulu näytti kokonaisuudessa ihan hassulta, eikä kotoa löytynyt oikein muutakaan sopivaa taulua, joten maalasin sellaisin sitten itse. Maalasin taustan ensin hieman sävytetyllä valkoisella akryylivärillä ja kuusta varten sekoitin mustaa ja sinistä. Vähän puussa olisi vielä korjailtavia kohtia, mutta jollei katso liian kriittisesti, niin ihan kivalta näyttää. Taulu tuo huoneeseen hieman joulufiilistä, muttei liian alleviivatusti, ja muu perhekin kuulemma tykkää :)

(IT) Durante il fine settimana ho messo in soggiorno il nostro tappeto invernale, cioè un tappeto in lana con un motivo classico in nero e beige. Nelle foto sembra sempre più chiaro di quello che è in realtà. Il quadro verde chiaro coi fiori che stava sopra il divano non ci stava più per nulla e visto che non avevamo neanche altri quadri che ci stessero meglio ne ho dipinto uno nuovo. Il fondo l'ho fatto quasi bianco e l'abete è dipinto con colore nero misto con blu. Ci sono un po' di dettagli che potrei migliorare ma se non si guarda con occhio troppo critico mi sembra ci stia bene. Porta un po' di atmosfera di natale ma non in modo troppo sottolineato e piace anche agli altri membri della nostra famiglia. :)

(EN) During the weekend I put our winter carpet in the living room. It's a wool carpet with a classic pattern in black and beige. For some reason it looks quite light in pictures while it's actually quite dark in real life. The light green painting with flowers hanging above the sofa didn't fit in at all and since we didn't have other good options either, I painted a new one. The background is almost white and the spruce is painted with black paint mixed with some blue. There are some parts that could be fixed a bit but if you don't look at the painting with a critical eye I think it looks good enough. It gives the room a bit X-mas feel but not in too obvious a way, and also the other members of our family seem to appreciate it. :)

Olohuone marraskuussa

(FI) Heipä hei, täällä ollaan taas pitkäksi venyneen blogitauon jälkeen. Viestinnän sivuaineopintojen viimeinen kurssi piti minut syysloman jälkeen tiiviisti tenttikirjojen ääressä, mutta nyt opintoputken päätyttyä yritän taas ehdiä vähän säännöllisemmin blogin pariin!

Alkuun muutama viime viikolla ottamani kuva olohuoneesta. Ostin kukkakaupasta todella tummanpunaisen amarylliksen varren ja lisäsin sen kaveriksi maljakkoon meiltä ennestään löytyneen kuivan peikonpähkinän oksan. Aika paljon kukat vaalenivat auettuaan, mutta on väri yhä vähän tavallista peruspunaista amaryllista tummempi. Jännä juttu kyllä, miten yksi voimakkaan värinen yksityiskohta muuttaa koko huoneen tunnelmaa. 

Sohvanurkkaukseen vaihdoin kokeeksi kukkapöydäksi yläkerrassa majailleen vanhan tiikkisen tarjoiluvaunun. Tykkään siitä, että kasvit ovat yhtenä selkeänä ryhmänään, ja muutenkin vaihtelu kyllä virkistää. Mikähän tuota yhtä mehikasvia muuten vaivaa, kun se on ryhtynyt kasvamaan pitkää, rönsyilevää vartta? Tarkoitus kun oli hankkia hidaskasvuisia ja hillittyjä lajikkeita... Huoneen lattialla on yhä työhuoneestani lainattu juuttimatto, mutta taidan kohta vaihtaa sen tilalle tumman villamaton. 

Mukavaa uutta viikkoa kaikille!

(IT) Ciao, eccomi di nuovo dopo una lunga pausa! Dopo il ritorno dalle vacanze autunnali sono stata veramente presa dall'ultimo esame dei miei studi delle scienze della comunicazione ma ora cercherò di aggiornare il blog più regolarmente.

Per cominciare ecco alcune foto del soggiorno scattate durante la settimana scorsa. Ho comprato dal fioraio un amaryllis rosso scuro e ho aggiunto nel vaso un ramo secco che avevo già a casa. Una volta aperti i fiori il colore non è più tanto intenso ma è sempre più scuro che di solito. Interessante però quanto una cosa colorata cambia l'atmosfera di tutta la stanza.

Nell'angolo divano ho messo ora un vecchio carrello in teak. Mi piace avere tutte le piante in un gruppo e poi variare fa sempre bene. Per terra c'è ancora il tappeto preso in prestito dal mio studio ma ho l'intenzione di sostituirlo presto un un tappeto scuro in lana.

(EN) Hello again after a longer blogging pause! After the autumn holidays I have been really busy with my communication sciences studies but now after the last exam I will try to post more regularly again.

To start with, some pictures of our living room I took during last week. I bought from the florist an amaryllis that was really dark red and added in the vase a dry branch I already had at home. Now that the flowers are open the red colour isn't quite that intense anymore but it's still darker than the average red amaryllis. Isn't it interesting, though, how one pop of colour changes the athmosphere in the whole room?

In the couch corner I put an old teak tea trolley. I like to see all the houseplants just in one group and it's always nice to have something "new" at home. The jute carpet actually comes from my study and I'm planning on putting it back to its place and bringing in the living room our dark wool rug.

Tyynytuliaiset

(FI) Kotona ollaan jälleen ja palaan pian Habitare-juttuihin, kunhan saan kuvat ja ajatukset jonkinmoiseen järjestykseen. Vaikka shoppailu olikin reissulla hyvin marginaalisessa osassa,  Tikaun ja Marimekon liikkeistä löytyi olohuoneeseen uutta ilmettä tuomaan ajankohtaisen lämpimän ja pehmeän sävyiset tyynynpäälliset, ja 1kertaa2-malliston Seitti-tyynyn uusi beige-musta versio lähti mukaan värimalliksi. Tänä aamuna kipaisin kukkakauppaan hakemaan vähän raikkaamman näköisiä kukkia, ja lopputuloksena oli tuollainen rento sekalainen kimppu kaikkea kivaa, mitä liikkeestä löytyi. Lauantaina kotiin tullessani vanhat kuivahtaneet kukat törröttivät varsin surkean näköisinä maljakoissa. Täytyy ilmeisesti ensi reissulle lähtiessä antaa miehelle erikseen valtuutus heittää leikkokukat roskiin, jos niiden väri alkaa olla lähempänä ruskeaa kuin vihreää. Vai kuuluvatko (kuihtuneet) kukkakimputkin miehille näkymättömiin kodin yksityiskohtiin?

P.S. Kuten huomaatte, olen hieman muuttanut blogin nimeä. Tästä lähtien nimi on lyhyesti ja ytimekkäästi The Ex-minimalist. :)

(IT) Eccomi di nuovo a casa e appena avrò messo le foto e anche i pensieri in ordine, parleró qui sul blog delle cose viste durante la fiera Habitare. Fare lo shopping non è stato tra le priorità durante il viaggio, ma ho comunque trovato un paio di nuovi copricuscini in colori molto attuali da Tikau e Marimekko. Inoltre ho portato a casa un copricuscino Seitti di 1kertaa2 nella nuova versione beige, questo mi serve per avere un modello del colore. Stamattina ho fatto subito  un salto dal fioraio per prendere fiori freschi e ho scelto vari fiori che mi piacevano quindi il risultato è un mazzo di un po' di questo e di quello. Quando sono tornata a casa sabato sera, i vecchi fiori stavano ancora nei vasi in condizioni piuttosto tristi. Probabilmente dovrei dare prima di partire a mio marito l'autorizzazione ufficiale a buttare i fiori recisi se cominciano a essere più marroni che verdi. O forse anche fiori (morti) sono tra le cose di casa che sono invisibili per gli uomini?

P.S. Come notate, ho modificato il nome del blog. Da ora in poi il nome è semplicemente The Ex-minimalist. :)

(EN) Here I am back home again, and I will talk about the things I saw during the Habitare fair as soon as the pictures and my ideas are somewhat more organized. Shopping wasn't really among the main things of the trip, but I did find a couple of nice cushion covers in very fashionable warm tones from Tikau and Marimekko. I also brought home a Seitti cushion cover by 1kertaa2 in the beautiful new beige version, since I need it as a colour sample.  This morning I popped into the florist's to buy some fresh flowers and since I chose various flowers that looked interesting, I ended up with a really relaxed bunch of this and that. When I came home on Saturday, the old flowers were standing in the vases in a pretty sad shape. Before the next trip, I should probably give my husband an official authorization for throwing out the cut flowers if they look more brown than green. Or perhaps also (dead) flowers belong the things at home that are invisible to men?

P.S. As you can noticed, I have change the name of the blog. From now on the name is simply The Ex-minimalist. :)

Löytö Ikeasta

(FI) Lauantaina meillä oli asiaa Ikeaan, ostoslistalla oli ihan vain kaksi pientä juttua, muttei sieltä taaskaan päästy kotiin ilman heräteostoksia. Itse asiassa ihastelin Användbar-sarjan amppelissa roikkuvaa mustaa vaneritarjotinta jo edellisellä visiitillä, mutta jätin sen kuitenkin kauppaan, koska en keksinyt amppelille sopivaa paikkaa. Nyt sitten samainen tuote löytyi poistopisteestä, ja kun hinnasta tippui yli kolmannes pois, tarjotin amppeleineen lähti saman tien ostoskärryyn. Ihanan iso tarjotin kokoaa kivasti sohvapöydällä olevat pienet tavarat yhteen ja mustaksi käsitelty vaneripinta on minusta todella kaunis. Naruamppeli jäi edelleen ylimääräiseksi, mutta ehkä se päätyy käyttöön ullakon kesähuoneeseen. Sekin projekti on edelleen kesken, mutta aloitettu on jo sentään!

(IT) Sabato siamo andati da Ikea, dovevamo comprare giusto un paio di cose piccole, ma neanche questa volta siamo riusciti a tornare a casa senza comprare qualcosa in più. Già la volta precedente ho notato l'elegante vassoio nero in compensato della serie Användbar ma non l'ho comprato perché non sapevo dove appendere il portavaso in macramè. Ora ho trovato lo stesso prodotto nell'angolo occasioni e, siccome il prezzo era molto scontato, ho messo il vassoio con il portavaso subito nel carrello. Ora il vassoio bello grande sta sul tavolino in soggiorno e raccoglie in un unico gruppo tutti gli oggetti piccoli. La superficie in compensato trattato nero è proprio bella! Il portavaso è rimasto vuoto ma forse lo porteremo in soffitta nella stanza estiva. Anche quel progetto è ancora in alto mare ma lo abbiamo già comunque iniziato!

(EN) On Saturday we went to Ikea to buy just a couple of small things but once again we returned home with something extra. I noticed the beautiful black plywood tray from the Användbar series already the previous time but didn't buy it since I didn't have a place for the macramè pot holder part. Now I found the same product in the bargain corner and since the price was really good I put the tray directly to the shopping cart. I love it how the big tray collects all the small things in just one group on the coffee table and the black plywood surface looks really nice. The pot holder is for the moment empty but maybe it will find a place in the summer room on the attic. That projet still needs a lot of work but at least we have started with it!

Elokuinen olohuone

(FI) Minun pitäisi oikeastaan olla jo kiireellä pakkaamassa laukkuja viikonlopun Kööpenhaminan reissua varten, mutta tässä ensin pari kuvaa siitä, miltä meidän olohuoneessa tällä hetkellä näyttää.  Vihernurkkaus tekee sisustuksesta varsin runsaan tuntuisen, etenkin kun kasvit ovat villiintyneet valoisassa huoneessa kasvamaan vähän turhankin innokkaasti. Upean orkidean olen saanut kukkimaan toiseen otteeseen ilman kastelua kummempaa hoitoa. Taitaa sekin olla auringon ansiota enemmän kuin omaani. Mukavaa viikonloppua!

(IT) In questo momento dovrei essere indaffarata a fare le valigie per il fine settimana a Copenhagen ma ecco prima un paio di foto del nostro soggiorno. Le piante nell'angolo rendono l'arredamento abbastanza ricco anche perché hanno cominciato a crescere tanto, essendo la stanza molto luminosa. La bellissima orchidea sul tavolo fiorisce per la seconda volta anche se non ho fatto altro che annaffiarla regolarmente. Forse anche quello è più merito del sole che del mio pollice verde. (EN) At the moment I should actually be busy packing the bags for the weekend trip to Copenhagen but here's first a couple of pictures of our living room. The green corner makes the interior look quite rich, especially since the plants are growing like crazy in the room flooded with light. The orchid started blooming for the second time even though I haven't done anything except watering it. Maybe it's the sun again and not my green thumb. Have a great weekend!

1kertaa2 giveaway

(FI) 1kertaa2 on Marika Lehden ja Piia Kalliomäen yhteistyönä syntynyt sisustusneulemallisto, joka suunnitellaan ja valmistellaan Suomessa. Tuotteet ovat puhdasta, ihoa vasten ihanan pehmeää merinovillaa. Malliston kuviot ovat yksinkertaisen graafisia ja värit pelkistettyjä. Kuosit on suunniteltu kestämään aikaa, ja niitä voi yhdistellä helposti keskenään tai muihin jo kodista löytyviin tekstiileihin. Näissä kuvissa esimerkiksi yhdistin 1kertaa2-tuotteisiin valkoisen ja harmahtavan beigen pellavtyynyn.

Minulla on ilo ryhtyä tekemään yhteistyötä malliston takana olevien taitavien naisten kanssa, sillä toimin jatkossa 1kertaa2-merkin agenttina Saksassa ja Italiassa. Huomasin lisäksi, että blogi täyttää tänään kokonaista neljä vuotta, joten syytä juhlaan on enemmänkin!

(IT) 1kertaa2 (1per2) è una collezione di prodotti per la casa in maglia di lana, nata dalla collaborazione tra Marika Lehti e Piia Kalliomäki, ed è progettata e prodotta in Finlandia. I prodotti sono realizzati in pura lana merino, morbidissima al tatto. I motivi sono semplici e grafici e lo schema di colori è piuttosto minimalistico. Le fantasie non seguono trend ma resistono nel tempo e sono facilmente abbinabili. In queste foto per esempio ho usato due cuscini in lino tra i cuscini 1kertaa2.

Ora ho il piacere di annunciarvi una mia collaborazione con queste due signore: inizio a rappresentare il marchio in Italia e in Germania. Per iniziare bene abbiamo deciso di organizzare un concorso in cui si può vincere un copricuscino della linea 1kertaa2. Inoltre mi sono accorta che il blog compie proprio oggi quattro anni quindi c'è ancora di più motivo per festeggiare un po!

(EN) 1kertaa2 (1by2) is a collection of knitted interior decoration products that was born as a result of collaboration between Marika Lehti and Piia Kalliomäki. All the products are design and made in Finland and the material is pure soft merino wool. The patterns are simple and graphic and the colour scheme is quite minimalistic. These knits don't follow trends but are a timeless yet modern alternative and easy to combine with the rest of the interior. For these pictures for example I mixed the 1kertaa2 products with a couple of linen cushions.

I'm really pleased to tell you that I'm starting a collaboration with the talented ladies behind this collection since I'm starting to work as their agent in Italy and Germany. We decided to organize also a blog giveaway for the occasion so one lucky reader can win a 1kertaa2 cushion cover. I also just noticed the blog is exactly four years old today so there's even more reason for some celebration.
