Uuniomenoita ulkoilmassa

(FI) Täällä on ollut aivan ihana syksyinen viikonloppu, ja koska sääennusteet lupaavat ensi viikolla sateita ja kylmenevää, oli aika tehdä syyssiivous ulkotiloissa. Pihalta vietiin puutarhakalusteet kellariin ja minä kitkin jälleen kerran myös melkoisen määrän rikkaruohoja. Parvekkeelta heitin muutaman surkean näköisen kasvin pois ja osan siirsin kellarikerrokseen talvehtimaan. Pesin ja lakaisin parvekkeen pinnat kahteen kertaan ja sen jälkeen tila näytti niin viihtyisältä, että päätin kattaa meille välipalan ulos. Tuoleille hain lampaantaljat ja esikoinen teki meille uuniomenia, jotka tarjoiltiin vaniljakastikkeen kera. Juotavaksi termarillinen kuumaa teetä ja neule vielä niskaan, niin ulkona oli aivan ihana istuskella. En sitten lopulta vienytkään parveketuoleja vielä kellariin siinä toivossa, että tulee vielä jokunen lämmin päivä. Mukavaa alkavaa viikkoa!

(IT) Abbiamo avuto un fine settimana con tempo fantastico e siccome le previsioni dicono che la settimana prossima il tempo cambierà abbiamo fatto un po´di pulizie di autunno fuori. Abbiamo portato i mobili di giardino dentro e io ho tolto una quantità enorme di erbaccia dalle aiuole. Sul balcone ho buttato via qualche pianta sofferente e alcune ho portato giù in cantina per il periodo invernale. Ho pulito tutte le superfici due volte e alla fine il balcone sembrava così invitante che ho deciso di apparecchiare il tavolo lì per fare merenda. Ho messo pelli di pecora sulle sedie e la primogenita ha preparato mele cotte al forno che abbiamo mangiato con crema alla vaniglia. Abbiamo bevuto tè caldo e con un maglione ci si stava benissimo. Alla fine non ho ancora portato via le sedie nella speranza che avremo ancora qualche giornata più calda. Buona settimana!

(EN) We have had a fantastic weather this weekend and since the weather forecasts say the situation will change next week it was time to do some autumn cleaning. We carried the garden furniture inside and I weeded the garden one more time. On the balcony I threw away a couple of plants that weren't doing too well and brought some others in the basement for the winter. I cleaned all the surfaces twice and after that the balcony looked so nice that I decided to lay the table for an afternoon snack there. I put a sheepskin on the chairs and our older daughter prepared some baked apples that were served with vanilla custard. We drank hot tea and with a pullover on it was really nice to sit outside. At the end I didn't take the chairs to the basement yet because I hope we'll still have some warm days ahead this autumn. Have a lovely week!

Kasveja ja kahvia

(FI) Parvekkeen istutukset alkavat olla valmiina, joten kyllä täällä nyt kelpaa nautiskella lauantain aamukahvia. Rosmariini, salvia, ruohosipuli ja persilja talvehtivat yrttilaatikossa, johon lisäsin uutta multaa ja istutin vielä basilikan. Timjamin voisi vielä lisätä ja minttukin olisi kiva, mutta se on paras istuttaa omaan ruukkunsa, jottei se tukahduta muita yrttejä. Ensimmäiset kypsät tomaatit on jo syöty, mutta saa nähdä, lähteekö kasvi kasvamaan lisää ja tekemään myös uusia kukkia ja tomaatteja. Mansikoita sen sijaan on ainakin jokunen tulossa. Bauhausin tummanharmaat ruukut olivat viime kesänä betonisen näköisiä, mutta niiden pintakäsittely ei kestä sadetta ja on muuttunut aika hurjan näköiseksi. Onneksi kukat sentään ovat kauniita ja kiinnittävät huomion pois rumista ruukuista. Parvekkeen kaiteella on kiinteät tuet kukkalaatikolle ja nyt löysin vihdoin melko sopivan kokoisen laatikon, jonka sidoin varmuudeksi vielä kiinnikkeisiin narulla. Oliivipuu talvehti meillä kylmässä tuulikaapissa, missä sitä kasteltiin jos joskus muistettiin. Nyt puu on täynnä pieniä oliivin alkuja, joten ainakin toistaiseksi se tuntuu viihtyvän ihan hyvin hoidossamme. Artekin jakkaraa ei sen sijaan kannata unohtaa ulos, jos luvassa on sadetta, sillä jalkojen lakkaus alkaa näköjään hilseillä aika nopeasti...

Mukavaa kesäistä viikonloppua!

(IT) Ho quasi finito di piantare fiori e altre piante sul balcone quindi ora è bello prenderci il caffè del sabato. Il rosmarino, la salvia, l'erba cipollina e il prezzemolo sono sopravvissuti all'inverno nel vaso grande quindi ho solo aggiunto un po' di terriccio e aggiunto una pianta di basilico. Vorrei ancora metterci anche timo e anche mi piacerebbe avere anche menta sul proprio balcone ma meglio metterla in un vaso separato per evitare che soffochi le altre erbe. Abbiamo già mangiato i primi pomodorini maturi ma vedremo se la pianta comincia a crescere e a fare nuovi fiori. Anche nella pianta di fragola c'è già qualche frutto in arrivo. I vasi grigio scuro di Bauhaus assomigliavano a vasi di cemento quando li ho comprati l'anno scorso ma il colore non è resistito alla pioggia e la superficie è diventata piuttosto brutto. Meno male che almeno i fiori sono belli e tirano l'attenzione. Sulla ringhiera del balcone ci sono due supporti fissi per una balconiera e ora ne ho trovato una che ha le misure piu o meno adatte. L'ho comunque fissata con la corda per sicurezza. L'ulivo è stato tutto l'inverno nell'ingresso a piano terra senza riscaldamento e l'abbiamo annaffiato un po' ogni tanto. Ora è pieno di inizi di olive quindi sembra che si trovi abbastanza bene da noi. Invece non conviene dimenticare uno sgabello di Artek fuori se le previsioni dicono pioggia perché la lacca delle gamge comincia a scrostarsi in fretta...

(EN) I'm almost done with planting flowers and other plants on the balcony so now it's nice to drink the Saturday cup of coffee there. Rosemary, sage, chives and parsley overwintered in the big black vase and now I just added some soil and and a basil plant. I'm still planning to add thyme in the vase and also mint would be nice but I prefer to have it in a separate vase because it grows like a weed. We have already eaten the first ripe cherry tomatoes but we'll see if the plant starts growing and making new flowers. At least we're going to have some strawberries from the strawberry plant. I bought the dark gray vases from Bauhaus last summer and they looked like concrete but the surface colour wasn't water resistent and now the vases look pretty sad. At least the flowers are pretty and draw the attention. On the balcony banister there are two fixed planter holders and now I managed to find a planter that's about the right size. Anyhow, I fastened the planter also with some cord just for safety. The olive tree wintered in our ground level entry that's not heated and we only watered it every now and then. Now the small tree is full of small olive buds so it looks like we're taking good enough care of it. Instead I just learned that you shouldn't forget the Artek stools out if it's going to rain because the lacquer finish in the legs starts peeling off pretty quickly...

Aamukahvit parvekkeella

(FI) Aurinkoisen ja lämpimän lauantain luksusta on juoda aamukahvit parvekkeella. Samoin teki näköjään myös Ninja ja moni muukin kahvittelija. Ihanaa viikonloppua ja muistakaa osallistua maljakkoarvontaan!

(IT) È un lusso poter prendere il caffè del sabato mattina sul balcone. Vedo che anche Ninja e tante altre hanno approfittato del bel tempo. Buon fine settimana e ricordatevi a partecipare al concorso per vincere un bellissimo vaso!

(EN) What a luxury being able to drink the Saturday morning coffee out on the balcony. I notice that also Ninja and other coffee drinkers have made the most out of the warm weather. Have a nice weekend and remember to participate in the vintage vase giveaway!

Lyhtykoiso ja kaverit

Parvekkeen kesäkukat ovat vaihtuneet syksyisempiin versioihin. Tarkoitus on vaihtaa kukkia vielä kerran ennen talvea, mutta toivottavasti se tapahtuisi jo uudessa asunnossa.

Ho sostituito i fiori estivi del balcone con piante più autunnali. L'idea sarebbe di cambiare le piante ancora una volta prima dell'inverno ma spero che ciò avverrà nella prossima casa.

I changed the summer flower on the balcony to more autumnal plants. The idea is to change the plants once again before the winter but I hope I can do that already in the next house.

Parvekekuulumisia

Ison parvekkeen kaunistus on tällä hetkellä kärhö, joka kiemurtelee paremman tuen puutteessa pitkin kaidetta. Kylvöksetkin ovat itäneet ja nyt jännitetään, ehtivätkö tuoksuherneet kukkia ennen kuin suuntaamme kohti Suomea.

Sul balcone grande fiorisce ora questa bellissima clematis che cresce lungo il muretto visto che manca un supporto migliore. I semi di fiori sono germogliati e ora le bambine aspettano con ansia se i piselli dolci ce la fanno a fiorire prima che partiamo per la Finlandia.

On the bigger balcony there's this beautiful clematis with it's wonderful blue flowers. It grows along the balcony wall since there's no other support. The flower seeds have germinated and now the girls are excited to see if the sweet peas will bloom before we leave for Finland.

Juhannus

Rentouttavaa juhannusta! Olemme tainneet olla aika monta juhannusta jossakin reissussa, koska lapset kyselevät, miten sitä kuuluu viettää. Eiköhän se näinkin suju, vaikkei suomalaisia perinteitä noudatetakaan.

Buon S. Giovanni! Non siamo quasi mai in Finlandia durante la festa di S. Giovanni quindi le nostre bambine mi chiedono come si festeggia in Finlandia. Mi sa che la passeremo bene lo stesso anche questa volta!

Have a nice and relaxing Midsummer! We're almost always traveling somewhere in this period so our kids are asking me what do the Finns do during Midsummer. Well, I think it's going to be nice also our own way.

Istutuksia

Meillä on Saksassa vuokralla kalustettu "kakkosasunto" miehen töiden takia. Istutin sen parvekkeille vähän kukkia ja yrttejä. Tyhjiin ruukkuihin kylvimme kukkien siemeniä. Saa nähdä, miten kylvökset onnistuvat.

Abbiamo in affitto una casa arredata in Germania per il lavoro di mio marito. Ho piantato sui balconi un po' di fiori e di piante aromatiche. Nei vasi vuoti abbiamo seminato fiori. Vedremo se cresceranno.

We have rented a furnished flat in Germany because of my husband's work. I planted some flowers and aromatic plants on the balconies. In the empty pots we planted flower seeds. We'll see if they'll grow.
