Uutta Marimekkoa

(FI) Vaikka olen yleisesti ottaen vähän kyllästynyt mustavalkoisuuteen, ihastuin välittömästi Marimekon uuden kokoelman kuoseihin, ja pari juttua lähti saman tien tilaukseen. Olipa kiva saada tänään paketti Suomesta ja ottaa sen sisältä esiin Spaljé-tyynynpäällinen ja Basket-sarjan muki ja lautanen sekä pari muuta täydennystä meillä jo oleviin astioihin. 

Tein viikolla olohuoneessa jälleen pientä karsimista ja mm. sohvalla ollut lampaantalja lähti jo varastoon. Sohvan yläpuolelle kaipaan uutta taulua, mutta siirsin siihen nyt väliaikaisesti joskus vuosia sitten Roomassa ottamani valokuvan, joka on kooltaan vähän turhan pieni. Katsotaan, jos saisin meidän taiteilijan eli esikoisen hommiin työstämään sopivaa teosta.

Kuluneella viikolla minua ilahdutti myös se, että sain kameraan kauan kaipaamani laajakulmaobjektiivin. Olin vertaillut eri vaihtoehtoja pitkään ja hankinta sen kun siirtyi kuukaudesta toiseen. Lopulta päädyin Canonin varsin edulliseen linssiin, jonka hinta-laatusuhde on saanut kovasti kehuja, ja ensivaikutelma on varsin lupaava! Nyt ei enää tule seinät kuvatessa vastaan, ja olohuoneestakin taitaa laajemman kuvakulman ansiosta saada tilana paremman käsityksen. 

Viikonlopun ohjelmissa meillä on ainakin pizzan paistoa ja Suomi-koulua, ja sunnuntaina olen menossa pitkästä aikaa paikallisten bloggaajien brunssille. Ihmettelen kyllä, kuka valitsi tapaamisen alkamisajankohdaksi aamukymmenen... ;) Mukavaa perjantai-iltaa!

(IT) Anche se mi sono in generale un po' stancata dallo stile tutto in bianco e nero, mi sono subito piaciute le fantasie della nuova collezione di Marimekko e ho fatto un piccolo ordine. È stato molto simpatico ricevere oggi un pacco dalla Finlandia e tirare fuori dalla scatola il copricuscino Spaljé, la tazza e il piatto della serie Basket e un paio di altre stoviglie delle serie precedenti.

Durante la settimana ho tolto un po' di cose dal soggiorno, ho per esempio posato la pelle di pecora che stava sul divano. Vorrei trovare un nuovo quadro da mettere sopra il divano e per il momento ci ho appeso una foto che ho fatto tempo fa a Roma, anche se ha le dimensioni un po' troppo ridotte. Vediamo se riesco a convincere la nostra artista, cioè la primogenita, a dipingere qualcosa di adatto.

Un'altra cosa che ho ricevuto questa settimana e di cui sono molto felice è una lente a grandangolo per la mia macchina fotografica. Ho paragonato i vari modelli a lungo e alla fine ho scelto una lente di Canon che dovrebbe avere un ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Devo dire che la prima impressione è promettente! Ora ho meno problemi quando fotografo negli spazi stretti e credo si capisca meglio per esempio com'è fatto il soggiorno.

Questo fine settimana dovremmo almeno preparare la pizza a casa e andare alla scuola di finlandese. Domenica parteciperò dopo un po' di tempo al brunch dei blogger locali. Mi chiedo solo chi ha deciso che si cominci alle dieci di mattina... ;) Buona serata di venerdì!

(EN) When I saw the new Marimekko collection I was immediately impressed and ordered a couple of things, even though generally speaking I'm a bit tired of all things black and white. It was so nice to get a package from Finland today and take out of the box a Spaljé cushion cover and a cup and plate of the Basket series plus a couple of other dishes.

During the week I removed some things from the living room like the sheepskin we had on the sofa. I would like to have a new picture above the sofa and for the moment I hung there a picture I have taken in Rome years ago, even if the size is a bit too small. Let's see if I manage to have our artist, i.e. our firstborn, to do an artwork that suits the space.

Another thing I received this week and that made me really happy is a new wide-angle lens for my camera. I had looked at different models for months and couldn't decide, but at the end I chose a Canon lens that should have an excellent price-quality ratio. The first impression is in fact really positive. From now on I have less problems in taking pictures in the tight spaces and I think you also get a better idea of the rooms thanks to the wider angle.

The weekend program includes at least preparing pizza at home and going to the Finnish language school. I'm also going to attend a local blogger brunch on Sunday. I just wonder who decided it must start at 10 o'clock on Sunday morning... ;) Have a nice Friday evening!

2.12.

(FI) Pari päivää sitten kaivoin esille kaikki meidän lampaantaljat. Vanha safarituolikin on nyt puettu talviasuun, ja täytyy sanoa, että lampaantalja parantaa huomettavasti sen istumamukavuutta. Tuolin viereen päätyi vähän ylimääräiseksi jäänyt pikkupöytä, joka oli aiemmin olohuoneessa kukkapöytänä. Erillistä lukuvaloa tuohon ei onneksi kaipaa, sillä suoraan yläpuolella on hyvän valon antava yleisvalaisin. Siis sikäli onneksi, että muuten sähköjohto kulkisi keskellä lattiaa. Uutta kaunista lukuvalaisinta vastaan minulla ei tietysti olisi mitään ;)

(IT) Un paio di giorni fa ho tirato fuori tutte le pelli di pecora. Ho vestito la sedia safari per l'inverno e con la pelle di pecora è anche molto più comoda. Accanto alla sedia c'è un tavolino che e rimasto senza uso, prima si trovava in soggiorno accanto alla poltrona. Una lampada da lettura non serve qui per fortuna, visto che direttamente sopra c'è una lampada che da una buona luce diffusa in tutta la stanza. Dico per fortuna, perché non vorrei avere un cavo elettrico che passa per terra. Una nuova lampada da lettura invece non mi dispiacerebbe affatto ;)

(EN) A couple of days ago I took out all our sheep skins. I dressed the old safari chair for winter and with the sheep skin it's also much more comfortable.  Next to the chair there's now a small table that used to be in the living room but isn't needed there anymore. Luckily we don't need a reading light for this place since there's a pendant light straight above and it gives a very good light to the whole room. I say luckily because I would hate to have an eletric cord in the middle of the room. Otherwise I wouldn't mind a nice new lamp of course ;)

Tyynytuliaiset

(FI) Kotona ollaan jälleen ja palaan pian Habitare-juttuihin, kunhan saan kuvat ja ajatukset jonkinmoiseen järjestykseen. Vaikka shoppailu olikin reissulla hyvin marginaalisessa osassa,  Tikaun ja Marimekon liikkeistä löytyi olohuoneeseen uutta ilmettä tuomaan ajankohtaisen lämpimän ja pehmeän sävyiset tyynynpäälliset, ja 1kertaa2-malliston Seitti-tyynyn uusi beige-musta versio lähti mukaan värimalliksi. Tänä aamuna kipaisin kukkakauppaan hakemaan vähän raikkaamman näköisiä kukkia, ja lopputuloksena oli tuollainen rento sekalainen kimppu kaikkea kivaa, mitä liikkeestä löytyi. Lauantaina kotiin tullessani vanhat kuivahtaneet kukat törröttivät varsin surkean näköisinä maljakoissa. Täytyy ilmeisesti ensi reissulle lähtiessä antaa miehelle erikseen valtuutus heittää leikkokukat roskiin, jos niiden väri alkaa olla lähempänä ruskeaa kuin vihreää. Vai kuuluvatko (kuihtuneet) kukkakimputkin miehille näkymättömiin kodin yksityiskohtiin?

P.S. Kuten huomaatte, olen hieman muuttanut blogin nimeä. Tästä lähtien nimi on lyhyesti ja ytimekkäästi The Ex-minimalist. :)

(IT) Eccomi di nuovo a casa e appena avrò messo le foto e anche i pensieri in ordine, parleró qui sul blog delle cose viste durante la fiera Habitare. Fare lo shopping non è stato tra le priorità durante il viaggio, ma ho comunque trovato un paio di nuovi copricuscini in colori molto attuali da Tikau e Marimekko. Inoltre ho portato a casa un copricuscino Seitti di 1kertaa2 nella nuova versione beige, questo mi serve per avere un modello del colore. Stamattina ho fatto subito  un salto dal fioraio per prendere fiori freschi e ho scelto vari fiori che mi piacevano quindi il risultato è un mazzo di un po' di questo e di quello. Quando sono tornata a casa sabato sera, i vecchi fiori stavano ancora nei vasi in condizioni piuttosto tristi. Probabilmente dovrei dare prima di partire a mio marito l'autorizzazione ufficiale a buttare i fiori recisi se cominciano a essere più marroni che verdi. O forse anche fiori (morti) sono tra le cose di casa che sono invisibili per gli uomini?

P.S. Come notate, ho modificato il nome del blog. Da ora in poi il nome è semplicemente The Ex-minimalist. :)

(EN) Here I am back home again, and I will talk about the things I saw during the Habitare fair as soon as the pictures and my ideas are somewhat more organized. Shopping wasn't really among the main things of the trip, but I did find a couple of nice cushion covers in very fashionable warm tones from Tikau and Marimekko. I also brought home a Seitti cushion cover by 1kertaa2 in the beautiful new beige version, since I need it as a colour sample.  This morning I popped into the florist's to buy some fresh flowers and since I chose various flowers that looked interesting, I ended up with a really relaxed bunch of this and that. When I came home on Saturday, the old flowers were standing in the vases in a pretty sad shape. Before the next trip, I should probably give my husband an official authorization for throwing out the cut flowers if they look more brown than green. Or perhaps also (dead) flowers belong the things at home that are invisible to men?

P.S. As you can noticed, I have change the name of the blog. From now on the name is simply The Ex-minimalist. :)

Marimekko ja Iittala Milanossa

(FI) Olette varmaan jo ehtineet nähdä kuvia Marimekon Artekin kanssa yhteistyössä sisustamasta Marimekko Homesta Milanossa, mutta tehdään silti vielä kierros tuossa hurmaavassa huoneistossa. Olen jo pitkään kaivannut Marimekkon kirkkaiden värien rinnalle maanläheisempää sävymaailmaa, joten olin todella iloisesti yllättynyt, kun kävelin sisälle asuntoon ja näin syksyn ja talven uutuusmalliston. Artekin vintagekalusteet tekivät kokonaisuudesta vielä todella kutsuvan ja kotoisan. En panisi pahakseni, jos meidän kotiin ilmestyisi syksyllä ruskea sohvatyyny tai nahkakahvainen tarjoilukulho. Myös Urna-maljakon uusi siniharmaa väri on näytti todella kauniilta, ja Carina Seth-Anderssonin maljakoita saattaa kuulemma näkyä jatkossakin uusissa kausiväreissä. Onnittelut Marimekolle upeista uusista tuulista!

Iittala lanseerasi Milanossa virallisesti Iittala X Issey Miyake -mallistonsa Italian markkinoille, vaikka se on Suomessa ollut myynnissä jo jonkin aikaa. Lehdistöaamiaisella kerrottiin malliston syntyvaiheista, ja paikalla ollut Sachiko Yamamoto Miyake Design Studiosta näytti muun muassa, miten tekstiileissä olevat kestovekit syntyvät. Astioista en nyt julkaise kuvia, koska ne lienevät jo kaikille tuttuja, mutta seinälle nostetut tekstiilit näyttävät niin kivoilta, että niitä saatte ihailla postauksen lopuksi. Löytyykö teiltä jo kotoa Miyake-mallistoa?

(IT) Sono sicura che avete già visto foto della Casa Marimekko che Marimekko aveva arredato in collaborazione con Artek a Milano per il Fuorisalone, ma ecco comunque un altro giro in quell'appartamento bellissimo. Ho a lungo sperato che Marimekko usasse anche colori più neutri oltre a quelli primari e brillanti quindi è stata una sorpresa molto piacevole vedere la nuova collezione autunno/inverno 2016. I mobili vintage di Artek rendevano inoltre tutto l'arredo veramente invitante ed accogliente. Non mi dispiacerebbe affatto vedere qualche cuscino marrone oppure una ciotola per servire con una maniglia di pelle a casa nostra quest'autunno. Anche il colore grigio-blu del vaso Urna era proprio elegante e mi hanno detto che i vasi di Carina Seth-Andersson usciranno anche in futuro in nuovi colori stagionali. Complimenti a Marimekko per la nuova direzione presa con questa collezione!

Iittala ha presentato a Milano la collezione Iittala X Issey Miyake per il mercato italiano anche se in Finlandia i prodotti sono già in vendita da un po'. Durante la colazione stampa l'azienda ha raccontato com'è nata la collezione e Sachiko Yamamoto dal Miyake Design Studio ha tra l'altro mostrato come si fanno le pieghe permanenti dei tessuti. Non pubblico qui foto delle stoviglie perché penso le conosciate già ma finisco il post con una foto dei tessuti della collezione attaccate alla parete. Avete già qualcosa di questa collezione a casa?

(EN) I'm pretty sure you have already seen pictures of the Marimekko Home apartment that Marimekko had decorated in collaboration with Artek for the Milan Design Week but here's anyway another tour in this wonderful place. I had hoped for a long time that Marimekko would use also some softer colours in addition to the bright tones in their textiles so I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and saw their new autumn/winter 2016 collection. Vintage furniture by Artek completed the cosy and inviting feel in the apartment. I wouldn't mind having a brown cushion on our couch or serve some treats from a bowl with a leather handle next autumn. Urna vase in the new blue-gray colour looked stunning, and I was told that the vases by Carina Seth-Andersson might get also other seasonal colours in the future. Congratulations to Marimekko for the new direction taken with this collection!

Iittala presented in Milan their Iittala X Issey Miyake collection for the Italian market even though the products have already been in shops for a while in Finland. During the press breakfast the company representatives told how the collaboration started and the products were born and Sachiko Yamamoto from the Miyake Design Studio showed how the pleatings are made. You won't see any pictures of the dishes here because I think you already know how they look, however at the end of this post there's a picture of the collection's beautiful textiles hanging on the wall. Kiosk deluxe

Kulkiessani jokin aika sitten Kiosk deluxen ohi ajattelin, että täytyy joskus käydä tutustumassa liikkeeseen, joka herättää heti suomalaisen designin ystävän mielenkiinnon. Liike on nimittäin täynnä Marimekon kankaista valmistettuja sisustustuotteita ja lastenvaatteita. Viertelin avointen ovien päivänä vierailuun tarjoutui oivallinen mahdollisuus, ja pääsin jututtamaan putiikin omistajia. Mukava suunnittelijapariskunta kertoi ihastuneensa Marimekon kankaisiin messuilla, ja koska Bremenissä ei ollut vielä Marimekon jälleenmyyjää, he päättivät ryhtyä sellaisiksi. Designkioskissa myydään kankaiden lisäksi itse suunniteltuja ja toteutettuja hauskoja sisustustuotteita, ja perheen lasten innoittamana on syntynyt myös hurmaava lastenvaatemallisto. Avointen ovien päivänä asiakkaat saivat suunnitella itselleen Marimekon kangaspaloista kuvioita kangaskasseihin, jotka liikkeen omistajat ompelivat valmiiksi. Alimassa kuvassa näkyy, millaisen kassin minä sain mukaani hyväntuulisen ompelijan käsistä. Kiitos paljon, kioskissanne oli oikein kotoisaa!

Un po' di tempo fa sono passata di fronte al negozio Kiosk deluxe e mi sono incuriosita molto. Ho subito pensato che qualche volta ci devo proprio andare, visto che è pieno di design per la casa e vestitini fatti con stoffe di Marimekko. Quando c'erano le porte aperta a Viertel ho avuto l'occasione perfetta per visitare il negozio e parlare con i proprietari. La simpaticissima coppia ha raccontato che hanno visto stoffe di Marimekko a una fiera e si sono innamorati delle fantasie. Siccome la marca non aveva ancora rivenditori a Brema hanno deciso di diventarlo loro stessi. Nel chiosco del design si vendono, oltre alle stoffe, oggetti di arredo progettati e prodotti dagli stessi proprietari e, grazie alle figlie della coppia, è nata anche una linea di vestitini per bambine. Durante la giornata delle porte aperte i clienti potevano decorare una borsa da spesa con pezzi di stoffe di Marimekko e i proprietari li cucivano insieme. Nell'ultima foto si vede com'è venuta la mia borsa. Grazie mille, mi sono sentita proprio a casa!

I passed by Kiosk deluxe some time ago and got really curious. I immediately thought that I really have to pop in sometime, since the shop window was full of design objects and children's clothes made with Marimekko fabrics. During the Viertel open doors weekend I had the perfect opportunity to visit the shop and to have a chat with the owners. The lovely couple told me that they had seen Marimekko fabrics on a fair and fallen in love with them. Since there was no retailer yet in Bremen they decided to become one. Now their design kiosk sells not only Marimekko fabrics but also home objects and children's dresses they design and produce themselves. During the open doors day the clients could design their own shopping bag using pieces of Marimekko fabrics and the shop owners sewed the pieces together. In the last picture you can see the bag that I could take home after the happy designer had finished sewing it. Thank you for the lovely visit, I really felt at home!

Pilkkukuumetta havaittavissa

Meillä tykätään pilkuista, kuten kuvista näkyy! Itse pidän etenkin tuosta Marimekon sateenvarjosta, joka tuntuu kestävän tuulen tuiverrusta ihan eri tavalla kuin useimmat mallit. (Tämä ei sitten ole maksettu mainos vaan ihan omaa kokemusta ;-))

A noi piaccino i pois, come si può vedere dalle foto! A me piace specialmente l'ombrello di Marimekko che resiste anche al vento forte, cosa piuttosto rara negli ombrelli di oggi. (Questa non è pubblicità pagata ma si basa sulla mia esperienza personale ;-))

We like dots, as you can see. I especially like the Marimekko umbrella that has a great wind resistance. That's doesn't seem to be too common nowadays. (This is not paid advertising but information based on my own experience ;-))

Tuttuja juttuja

Tytöt saivat viikonloppuna lempilakanat sänkyihinsä. Kumpikin neiti tykkää kovasti Marimekosta, kuten kuvista näkyy, ja trikoolakanat ovat kuulemma kaikkein ihanimmat. Omat kotoa tuodut tavarat ovat tietysti lapsille nyt erityisen tärkeitä, kun elämässä tapahtuu isoja muutoksia. Uuden kielen opiskelu on etenkin aluksi aika rankkaa ja väsyttävää, samoin uusiin kavereihin tutustuminen, mutta onneksi kaikki on sujunut oikein hyvin eikä kummankaan tarvitse viettää koulussa välitunteja yksin.

Abbiamo messo le lenzuola preferite nei letti delle bimbe. I prodotti di Marimekko piacciono molto a tutt'e due, come si può capire dalle foto, e le lenzuola di maglia di cotone sono morbidissime. Le cose portate da casa sono naturalmente ancora più importati ora quando ci sono grandi cambiamenti nella vita. Imparare una nuova lingua e fare nuove amicizie è stancante, ma le cose stanno andando bene e tutt'e due hanno già amichette a scuola.

During the weekend we changed the girl's favourite bed linens in their beds. They both love Marimekko products as you can see from the pictures and the jersey sheets are especially lovely. All the own things brought from home are naturally even more important now that there are big changes in our life. Learning a new language and making new friends is tiring but everything's been going well and both the girls have already friends at school.

Väriä elämään

Vaikka muuten olen neutraalien värien ystävä, värillinen lasi ja taide muodostavat poikkeuksen. Keittiön hyllylle on kerääntynyt pieni kokoelma kannuja ja karahveja ja on joukossa yksi Kaj Franckin maljakkokin. Löydätkö kuvien väliset erot?

Anche se generalmente mi piacciono i colori neutri, il vetro colorato e l'arte sono un'eccezione alla regola. Sulla mensola in cucina c'è una piccola collezione di brocche e  caraffe di vetro e nel gruppo c'è anche un vaso di Kaj Franck. Trovi le differenze tra le foto?

Even though I normally prefer neutral colour scheme, glass and art are an exception to the rule. On the kitchen shelf there is this little collection of glass pitchers and there's also a flower vase by Kaj Franck in the same group. Do you find the differences between the photos?
