(FI) Pari päivää sitten kaivoin esille kaikki meidän lampaantaljat. Vanha safarituolikin on nyt puettu talviasuun, ja täytyy sanoa, että lampaantalja parantaa huomettavasti sen istumamukavuutta. Tuolin viereen päätyi vähän ylimääräiseksi jäänyt pikkupöytä, joka oli aiemmin olohuoneessa kukkapöytänä. Erillistä lukuvaloa tuohon ei onneksi kaipaa, sillä suoraan yläpuolella on hyvän valon antava yleisvalaisin. Siis sikäli onneksi, että muuten sähköjohto kulkisi keskellä lattiaa. Uutta kaunista lukuvalaisinta vastaan minulla ei tietysti olisi mitään ;)
(IT) Un paio di giorni fa ho tirato fuori tutte le pelli di pecora. Ho vestito la sedia safari per l'inverno e con la pelle di pecora è anche molto più comoda. Accanto alla sedia c'è un tavolino che e rimasto senza uso, prima si trovava in soggiorno accanto alla poltrona. Una lampada da lettura non serve qui per fortuna, visto che direttamente sopra c'è una lampada che da una buona luce diffusa in tutta la stanza. Dico per fortuna, perché non vorrei avere un cavo elettrico che passa per terra. Una nuova lampada da lettura invece non mi dispiacerebbe affatto ;)
(EN) A couple of days ago I took out all our sheep skins. I dressed the old safari chair for winter and with the sheep skin it's also much more comfortable. Next to the chair there's now a small table that used to be in the living room but isn't needed there anymore. Luckily we don't need a reading light for this place since there's a pendant light straight above and it gives a very good light to the whole room. I say luckily because I would hate to have an eletric cord in the middle of the room. Otherwise I wouldn't mind a nice new lamp of course ;)
(FI) Blogeja moititaan usein siitä, että ne yllytävät jatkuvaan shoppailuun ja kertakäyttökulutukseen. Siksi minulle on ilo olla mukana Bukowskisin ja Indiedayssin
kampanjassa, sillä Bukowskis jos mikä edustaa kestävää kehitystä ja
kierrätystä. Oma sisustusfilosofiani on jo kauan ollut se, että pyrin hankkimaan kotiin sellaisia juttuja, jotka kestävät aikaa ja kulutusta. Designtuotteet ovat usein juuri sellaisia, sillä jos ne ovat olleet muotokieleltään ajankohtaisia jo vuosikymmeniä, ovat ne sitä jatkossakin. Ostan designtuotteita mielelläni mahdollisuuksien mukaan käytettynä, koska niin voi säästää huomattavia summia ja vintagekalusteet ja -valaisimet tuovat sisustukseen myös kotoisaa kerroksellisuutta. Nettihuutokaupat ovatkin tulleet vuosien varrella varsin tutuiksi, ja samalla olen oppinut, että hyvää kannattaa odottaa rauhassa pitempäänkin.
Bukowskis Market -nettihuutokaupassa on muutama huomattava etu verrattuna sellaisiin, joissa yksityiset myyvät omia tuotteitaan. Ensinnäkin ammattilainen on tarkistanut tuotteet ja määritellyt niille lähtöhinnan, joka toimii ostajan ohjenuorana tarjousta tehdessä. Toiseksi tuotteista on sanallisen arvion lisäksi esillä hyvät valokuvat, joiden perusteella hahmottaa tuotteen todellisen kunnon. Kolmanneksi myynnissä on aina noin 3 000 laatuesinettä, joiden joukosta voi etsiä kiinnostavia kohteita hakusanoilla, joten aikaa ei tuhraannu helmien etsimiseen valtavasta massasta. Lisäksi voi valjastaa hakuvahdin tarkkailemaan, milloin hakua vastaavia uusia tuotteita tulee myyntiin.
Kun huutaessa ilmoittaa enimmäistarjouksensa, korotusautomaatti huolehtii korotusten tekemisestä. Pyysin alla näkyvälle Veninin lasilautaselle Bukowskisilta hinta-arvion, ja lähtöhinta voisi kuulemma olla noin 500 euroa. Älkää ihmetelkö, jos neljän euron kirppisostokseni näkyy lähiaikoina myytävien lasiesineiden joukossa!

Ecco perché sono molto contenta di fare parte della campagna di Bukowskis e Indiedays, visto che Bukowskis rappresenta un modo completamente diverso di consumo e incoraggia al riciclaggio. La mia filosofia di arredamento è stata da tanto tempo quella di cercare di comprare cose che durano nel tempo. I prodotti di design sono spesso tali: se sono stati attuali per decenni lo saranno anche in futuro. Quando possibile, compro volentieri cose di seconda mano perché può portare a risparmi notevoli e i mobili e le lampade vintage rendono la casa anche molto accogliente. Dopo vari anni di utilizzo conosco molto bene vari siti di aste online e ho anche imparato che non bisogna avere fretta quando si cerca qualcosa.
La casa d'aste Bukowskis Market ha alcuni vantaggi paragonata a quelle dove persone private vendono le loro cose. Innanzitutto una persona esperta ha controllato i prodotti e definito un prezzo di partenza che funziona come indicazione quando uno fa l'offerta. Sui prodotti è sempre data una valutazione scritta sulla condizione nonché ottime foto da cui si vede lo stato effettivo dell'oggetto. Ci sono sempre circa 3 000 oggetti di qualità in vendita tra cui si può cercare con parole chiave quindi uno non perde tempo a cercare tesori tra una massa eterogenea di annunci. Inoltre è possibile attivare la funzione che manda una mail se arrivano in vendita nuovi prodotti che corrispondono al criterio di ricerca. Non si sa mai cosa si può trovare al mercatino delle pulci qui in Germania oppure sui siti dove si vende roba usata. Ho chiesto all'esperto di Bukowskis una stima di prezzo per il piatto di Venini nella foto di sopra, e mi ha detto che il prezzo indicativo potrebbe essere di circa 500 euro. Non vi meravigliate quindi se vedrete presto tra i prodotti in vendita questo tesoro che ho comprato al mercatino delle pulci per quattro euro! Nel collage in alto ci sono alcune cose interessanti attualmente in vendita al Bukowskis Market. Starebbero tutte benissimo nella nostra sala da pranzo. This is exactly why I'm really happy to be part of the Bukowskis and Indiedays campaign since Bukowskis represents a completely different way of life and encourages recycling. My own decorating philosophy has been for long already to try to buy things that will endure time and use. Design products often meet these demands. If they have been produced since decades they will look good also in the future. If only possible, I like to buy things used since you can save quite a bit that way and vintage furniture and lighting also make your home cosy. After several years of use I'm familiar with several online auctions and I have also learned that you need to be patient and wait for the right item.
Bukowskis Market online auction has several advantages compared to others where private persons sell their objects directly. First of all, a professional has evaluated the objects and given it an estimate price that serves as a guideline for the buyer. There's a written condition report and good pictures that show the actual state of the object. There are about 3 000 high quality objects for sale all the time and you can search with keywords or by name, so you don't loose time looking for treasures from loads and loads of announcements that vary in quality. You can also activate a tracking function and receive a mail when a new item that corresponds to your search arrives.
If you register a maximum bid when making the first offer, the automatic bidding service will take care of the rest. On top of the winning bid the buyer pays a 22,5 procent provision and a 5 euro hammer fee. The purchased items can be collected at Bukowskis premises in Helsinki, Stockholm, Gothenburg or Malmö if you pay a transport fee and it's also possible to have them sent elsewhere.
Even though Bukowskis Market isn't geographically very convenient for me at the moment, I regularly visit the site even if just for learning something more. It's a huge art and design information database and getting more information on these things can be really useful. You never know what kind of treasures you can find at the flea markets or sites where people sell used stuff here in Germany. I asked Bukowskis for an estimated price on the Venini plate in the second picture, and they told me the price could be around 500 euros. So don't be surprised if you see this four euro flea market find among the items for sale in the near future!

(FI) Kulunut viikko meni jostakin syystä niin vauhdilla, että viikonloppu pääsi melkein yllättämään. Huomasin äskettäin, etten ole vielä näyttänyt täällä blogissa, miltä meidän ruokasalin "uusi" vintagekattovalaisin näyttää, joten täytyy nyt heti korjata asia. Valaisin odotti asennusta kuukausikaupalla, sillä huoneen katto ja seinät piti ensin maalata, eikä siihen hommaan tuntunut löytyvän sopivaa hetkeä.. Voitte siis kuvitella, miten mahtavalta tuntui, kun saimme valaisinlöydön vihdoin käyttöön. Seuraava hitaasti etenevä projekti on peilin teettäminen vanhaan kullanväriseen kehykseen. Toivottavasti se hoituu sentään muutamassa viikossa. Meillä on muuten erikoinen viikko tiedossa, sillä kuopus viettää ensi viikon leirikoulussa ja mies on samaan aikaan työmatkalla. Kotona olemme siis vain minä ja vanhempi tytär. En ole tainnut koskaan olla yhtä monta päivää ihan vain kahdestaan esikoisen kanssa. Mitäköhän kivaa me täällä keksitään?
(IT) La settimana è passata così in fretta che l'arrivo del fine settimana mi ha quasi sorpresa. Ho notato poco fa che non ho ancora fatto vedere qui nel blog come sta il nostro "nuovo" lampadario vintage nella sala da pranzo, quindi devo subito rimediare. La lampada ha aspettato vari mesi di essere istallata perché dovevamo prima imbiancare sia il soffitto che le pareti ed era difficile trovare il momento giusto per i lavori. Potete immaginare quanto era bello finalmente prendere il lampadario in uso. Il prossimo progetto che sta avanzando lento è fare uno specchio della vecchia cornice dorata. Speriamo che sia comunque solo una questione di settimane. A proposito, la prossimo settimana sarà veramente particolare perché la secondogenita sarà in gita scolastica e mio marito ha un viaggio di lavoro. Saremo solo io e la primogenita qui a casa e non so se ho mai passato tanto tempo solo con lei. Dobbiamo proprio fare qualcosa di bello insieme!
(EN) The week passed so quickly that I was almost surprised that it's already the weekend. I recently noticed that I still haven't shown what our "new" vintage chandelier looks like in the dining room so I have to remedy immediately. The chandelier waited for several months to be installed because we needed to paint the ceiling and the walls and it was difficult to find time for that. You can imagine how great it was to finally have the lamp in use. The next project that's also progressing really slow is making a mirror out of the old frame. Anyhow, I hope it will only take some weeks. By the way, next week will be really strange because my younger daughter is going on a field trip with the school and my husband has a business trip. It's going to be just me and my older daughter at home and I don't think I have even spent so many days just with her. We really have to so something special together!
(FI) Joskus joutuu luopumaan jostakin rakkaasta esineestä muuton vuoksi. Näin kävi tämän sveitsiläisen Wilhelm Kienzlen suunnitteleman safarituolin omistajalle, ja vaikka tilanne on sinänsä ikävä, minulle se oli tällä kertaa onnenpotku. Kaikki alkoi siitä, kun löysin viime viikolla netistä monta viikkoa vanhan ilmoituksen myytävästä safarituolista, joka sijaitsi naapuriosavaltiossa ja ihan inhimillisen hakumatkan päässä. Vaikka olin aika varma, että tuoli on jo mennyt, lähetin kuitenkin viestin ja tiedustelin tilannetta. Seuraavana päivänä sain vastauksen, että tuoli olikin vielä myynnissä. Kun kysyin, sopisiko nouto seuraavana sunnuntaina, kävi ilmi, että tuolin omistaja oli muuttamassa jo lauantaina toiselle puolelle Saksaa. Niinpä hyppäsimme miehen kanssa perjantai-iltana autoon ja lähdimme noutamaan viime hetkellä aarretta pienestä rannikkokaupungista. Perillä iäkäs omistaja kertoi perineensä 50-luvulla valmistetun tuolin omalta isältään, joka seilasi meriä purjelaivalla. Uudessa asunnossa tuolille ei vain ollut tilaa, joten siitä oli pakko luopua. Niinpä tiikkirunkoinen tuoli pääsi meidän auton takakonttiin ja on nyt kunniapaikalla olohuoneessa. Pientä kunnostusta tuoli kaipaa, sillä yhdessä tiikkiosassa on halkeama, joka täytyy liimata. Aion myös hioa puuosat kevyesti ja öljytä ne tiikkiöljyllä. Nahkaosille on tarkoitus kokeilla satulasaippuaa, jonka pitäisi puhdistaa nahka tehokkaasti mutta samalla hoitaa sitä. Joka tapauksessa tuoli on minusta aivan ihana ja vielä ihanamman siitä tekee se, että sillä on tarina.
(IT) A volte bisogna liberarsi di qualcosa di caro per un trasloco. Ciò è successo al proprietario di questa sedia safari progettato dal designer svizzero Wilhelm Kienzle ma anche se è anche una situazione triste, per me è stato un colpo di fortuna. Il tutto è cominciato quando ho trovato la scorsa settimana su internet un annuncio, pubblicato già varie settimane fa, su una sedia safari, che era da prendere da non troppo lontano. Ero sicurissima che la sedia fosse già venduta ma ho deciso di mandare un messaggio e chiedere lo stesso. Il giorno dopo mi è arrivata una risposta che diceva che la sedia era ancora disponibile. Quando ho chiesto se la potevamo andarla a prendere la domenica, ho saputo, che il proprietario avrebbe traslocato sabato dall'altra parte della Germania. Venerdì sera io e mio marito siamo quindi partiti in macchina per prendere questo pezzo raro all'ultimo momento da una cittadina sulla costa. Una volta arrivati lì, il proprietario anziano ci ha raccontato di aver ereditato la sedia fabbricata negli anni '50 da suo padre che era marinaio. Nella nuova casa non c'era purtroppo spazio per la sedia quindi la doveva per forza vendere. Abbiamo messo la sedia nel cofano della macchina e ora ha un posto d'onore nel nostro soggiorno. La sedia ha bisogno di un po' di restauro perché nel legno di teak c'è una piccola spaccatura che dovrò incollare. Ho anche intenzione di levigare il legno leggermente e oliarlo con olio di teak. Le parti di pelle le penso di pulire con sapone per sella che dovrebbe pulire bene ma anche curare la pelle. In ogni caso io trovo la sedia bellissima e mi piace ancora di più per la sua storia.
(EN) Sometimes you have to get rid of some treasured possession when you're moving. That's what happened to the owner of this safari chair by Swiss designer Wilhelm Kienzle but even though the situation is a bit sad, for me it was a stroke of luck. It all started last week when I found online an ad, published already some weeks earlier, on a safari chair for sale not too far from our home. I was pretty sure that the chair was already sold but I decided to send a message and try my luck. The next day I got a reply saying that the chair was still available. When I asked if it was possible to fetch the chair on Sunday I heard that the owner was moving on Saturday to another part of the country. So Friday evening I drove with my husband in the very last minute to take the chair from a small town on the coast. Once we were there the elderly owner told us that he had inherited the chair manufactured in the 50's from his sailor father. There was really no space for it in the new apartment so he had to sell it. We packed the chair in our car and now it has pride of place in our living room. The chair needs to be fixed a bit since there's a small crack in the wood that I need to glue. I'm going to polish the teak parts slightly and oil the with teak oil. The leather I will try to clean with saddle soap that should not only clean it but also soften it. Anyway I think the chair is wonderful and even more wonderful because it has a story.
(FI) Tänä aamuna kuvasin vähän haikeana aamukahvikupillistani parvekkeella, sillä luin Ninjan lopettavan lauantaisen kahvikerhonsa ja bloginkin jäävän tauolle. Harmi, mutta toisaalta 95 peräkkäistä kahvipostausta lauantaiaamuisin on kunnioitettava suoritus, joten kiitos niistä! Vappuviikonloppu on muuten sujunut mukavissa merkeissä. Vappuaattona maistoimme tekemääni simaa, jota valmistaessa korvasin fariinisokerin täällä myytävällä tummalla melassisiirapilla ja valkoisella sokerilla, ja vaikka jännitin lopputulosta, oli maku ihan kohdallaan! Eilen paistoin aamulla melkoisen satsin munkkeja ja puolen päivän maissa joukko ystäviä saapui pitkälle iltapäivään kestäneelle vappubrunssille. Tänään taas posteljooni soitteli ovikelloa ja toi isohkon paketin, jonka sisällä oli viimeisin vintagelöytöni, todella siistikuntoinen Kaiser Idell 6556 -valaisin. Kannatti taas käydä paikallisessa eBayssa tutkimassa tarjontaa. Mukavaa lauantai-iltaa!
(IT) Stamattina ho fatto delle foto del mio caffellatte con un po' di nostalgia perché avevo letto che Ninja chiude con il suo circolo del caffè e anche il suo blog farà una pausa. Peccato, ma 95 post con foto di caffè ogni sabato mattina sono tanti quindi grazie mille per i mesi passati! Per il resto il primo fine settimana è andato in modo piacevole. Venerdì sera abbiamo assaggiato sima, la tradizionale bibita finlandese che si prepara sempre per il primo maggio, ed era venuto proprio buono nonostante gli ingredienti un po' diversi di solito che ho dovuto usare. Ieri mattina ho fatto una montagna di frittelle e verso mezzo giorno un gruppo di amici è arrivato al brunch che è durato varie ore. Oggi invece il postino ha suonato il campanello e portato un pacco dentro cui c'era il mio ultimo acquisto vintage, una lampada Kaiser Idell 6556 in ottime condizioni. Conviene proprio seguire le offerte su eBay locale. Buona serata di sabato!
(EN) This morning I felt a bit nostalgic when I took pictures of my Saturday morning coffee because I had read that Ninja will close her coffee club and take a break from blogging. It's a pity but 95 coffee posts every Saturday morning are a lot so thank you for them! For the rest the first weekend of May has been most enjoyable. On Friday we tasted the traditional Finnish mead I had prepared and the taste was perfect even though I had to improvise a bit with the ingredients. Yesterday morning I made a load of doughnuts and around noon our friends arrived for a May Day brunch that lasted till late afternoon. Today the postman rang the doorbell and brought me a package with my latest vintage find, a Kaiser Idell 6556 lamp in a great condition. It really pays to keep an eye on the local eBay. (FI) Pienessä vierashuoneessamme ei ole yhtään ylimääräistä tilaa, mutta halusin sinne silti edes yhden tuolin. Koska tuolin ainoa mahdollinen paikka on ikkunan edessä, kovin iso ja raskas malli ei tullut kysymykseen. Ensimmäinen tuoliehdokas oli Suomesta löytynyt vanha Domus-tuoli, mutta sille löytyikin vielä parempi paikka yläkerrasta. Domuksen seuraaja, Bertoian suunnittelema Side Chair, sen sijaan sopii mielestäni vierashuoneeseen hienosti. Kevyt ritilärunko ei tee tilaa ahtaan tuntuiseksi, siniharmaa pehmuste käy ihan kelvollisesti yhteen huoneen muiden värien kanssa ja tyylikäs designtuoli tuo kokonaisuuteen kivasti nostetta. Vierashuone on sisustettu melkein
pelkillä eBay- ja kirppislöydöillä, joten vaikka tuolin tyyli on muuta kalustusta modernimpi, tutulla linjalla jatketaan ainakin jossain suhteessa.
(IT) La nostra stanza per gli ospiti è proprio piccola ma volevo metterci comunque una sedia. L'unico posto possibile è davanti alla finestra quindi un modello grande e pesante era fuori questione. Il primo candidato era la vecchia sedia Domus che ho trovato in Finlandia ma alla fine la sedia sta ancora meglio al piano di sopra. Ora al suo posto sta la sedia Side Chair di Bertoia che sembra starci proprio bene. La struttura metallica è visualmente leggera, il colore del cuscinetto sta bene con gli altri arredi e una bella sedia di design rende la stanza naturalmente anche più speciale. La stanza per gli ospiti è stata arredata quasi completamente con cose trovate su eBay o al mercatino delle pulci quindi la sedia continua in qualche modo la stessa linea degli altri mobili anche se lo stile è più moderno.
(EN) Our guest room is really small but I still wanted to have a chair in the room. The only possible place is in front of the window so a big and bulky chair was completely out of the question. The first candidate was an old Domus chair brought from Finland but it found an even better place upstairs. Now the place has been taken by the Bertoia Side Chair that seems to be a perfect fit. The light metal frame doesn't make the space crowded, the grayish seat cushion suits the overall look and a beautiful design chair makes the whole room naturally more special. The guest room has been decorated mostly with eBay and flea market finds so this chair is in line with the other interior even though the style is a bit more modern.
(FI) Tein viime vuoden viimeisen vintage-löydön juuri ennen joululomalle lähtöä, ja kotiin palatessa minua odotti iso postipaketti. Pahvin sisältä paljastunut messinkinen patinoitunut Bumling-valaisin antaa nyt kaunista tunnelmavaloa olohuoneen nurkassa. Tiesin valaisimen olevan suuri, mutta silti sen koko vähän yllätti, kun kaivoin sen paketista. Oivallinen sijoituspaikka löytyi kuitenkin aika helposti, sillä pienemmät valaisimet tuntuivat aina hukkuvan nurkkaan nojatuolin taakse. Messinkipinnassa valaisimen ikä todellakin näkyy, mutta niin se saa näkyäkin. Uutenahan näitä pöytävalaisimia ei edes valmisteta. Kuvissa näkyvän pienen pärekorin on kuopus jättänyt lojumaan olohuoneeseen, mutta se näyttää tuossa kirja- ja lehtipinon päällä niin hauskalta, etten ole vielä pyytänyt viemään sitä takaisin paikoilleen. Yleensä nimittäin yritän pitää edes olohuoneen suht siistinä ja saatan siinä hetkittäin onnistuakin ;)
(IT) Ho fatto un ultimo acquisto vintage proprio prima di partire per le vacanze di natale e c'era grande una scatola che mi aspettava al ritorno. Ora una lampada Bumling in ottone dona una bella luce di atmosfera all'angolo del soggiorno. Sapevo che la lampada è grande ma ciononostante sono stata un po' sorpresa delle dimensioni quando l'ho tirata fuori dalla scatola. Ho comunque trovato un posto proprio adatto senza troppe difficoltà perché le lampade più piccole si nascondevano troppo nell'angolo dietro la poltrona Diamond. C'è veramente molta patina sulla superfice ma non fa niente. La versione da tavolo della lampada Bumling non è più neanche in produzione. La secondogenita ha lasciato il piccolo cestino in legno intrecciato in soggiorno ma sembra così simpatico sulla pila di libri e riviste che non le ho neanche detto di portarlo al suo posto. Di solito cerco di tenere almeno il soggiorno abbastanza in ordine e a volte ci riesco pure per un po' ;)
(EN) Last year I did one more vintage find just before leaving for Christmas holidays and there was a big box waiting for me when we returned. Now a brass Bumling table lamp gives beautiful mood lighting in the living room corner. I knew that the lamp is big but was still a bit surprised by its dimensions when I pulled it out from the box. Anyhow it didn't take me long to find a perfect place for it because smaller lamps seemed to disapper in the corner behind the Diamond chair. The brass surface is really quite tarnished but that's just fine. These table versions of the Bumling lamp are no longer in production. My younger daughter has left in the living room the small shingle basket that you can see in the pictures but it looks so nice on the book and magazine pile that I haven't asked her to take it back to its place. I normally try to keep at least the living room tidy and momentarily even succeed in doing so ;)
(FI) Viikonloppu on taas täällä, ja päivä käynnistyi totuttuun tapaan aamukahvia nautiskellen. Minulle aamukahvi on todella tarpeen, jotta herään kunnolla. Ennen kahvikupillisen juomista olen niin unenpöpperössä, että saatan tehdä kaikenlaisia hassuja juttuja. Joskus esimerkiksi laitan mukamas kahvimaidon lämpenemään ja munakellon soimaan, jottei maito pala pohjaan, mutta unohdan kytkeä levyn päälle... Kakkoskuvassa on Iittalan Nappula-kynttilänjalkojen kaverina tanskalaisen Bjørn Wiinbladin suunnittelemia Rosenthalin kynttilänjalkoja. Joannan seinälautasten innoittamana kurkkasin pitkästä aikaa eBayn tarjontaa ja vihdoinkin minua onnisti ja sain tilattua muutamalla eurolla syksyaiheisen kynttilänjalan. Nyt kokoelmasta puuttuu enää kevät ja sitten ovat kaikki neljä vuodenaikaa koossa. Ehkä kevät löytyy jostakin vasta keväämmällä. Tunnelmallista viikonloppua!
(IT) Il fine settimana è di nuovo qui e come al solito ho iniziato la giornata bevendo caffellatte. Per me ci vuole veramente del caffè la mattina, altrimenti non mi sveglio bene. Prima di prendere il caffè faccio a volte cose buffe perché sono ancora troppo addormentata. Qualche volta metto per esempio del latte a riscaldare e metto il contaminuti a suonare per non bruciare il latte ma invece dimentico di accendere il fornello... Nella seconda foto ci sono oltre ai portacandele Nappula di Iittala dei portacandele di Rosenthal progettati dal designer danese Bjørn Wiinblad. I piatti di Joanna mi hanno spinta a controllare di nuovo cosa si trova su eBay e questa volta sono stata fortunata e ho comprato il portacandela con il motivo di autunno al prezzo di pochi euro. Ora mi manca solo quello con il motivo di primavera dopodiché la collezione delle quattro stagioni sarà completa. Forse lo riuscirò a trovare solo in primavera. Buon fine settimana!
(EN) The weekend is here again and as usual I started the day drinking some coffee. I really need my cup of coffee in the morning, otherwise I'm not really awake. I even do some funny things sometimes before I get some coffee. I might for example heat the milk for the coffee and put on the kitchen timer so I don't burn the milk but I forget to turn the hob on... In the second picture there are not only Iittala Nappula candle holders but also Rosethal candle holders by a Danish designer, Bjørn Wiinblad. When I saw Joanna's decorative wall plates I got the idea of checking again what was available on eBay and this time I was lucky and found a candle holder with autumn motive for just a couple of euros. Now only the spring candle holder is missing and then I'll have all the four seasons in my collection. Maybe I'll find it somewhere next spring. Have a nice weekend!
(FI) Meidän kuopus täytti kesällä kymmenen vuotta ja siirtyi nyt syksyllä ala-asteelta Gymnasiumiin eli paikalliseen ylioppilastutkintoon johtavaan kouluun. Tuon ikäinen on toisaalta vielä aika pieni mutta vähän jo isokin, joten huonekaan ei saa olla enää ihan pikkulapsen huone, vaikka tietyt lelut ja kaikenlaiset suloiset pienet aarteet ovatkin vielä tärkeitä. Neiti alkoi keväällä kaivata huoneeseensa kunnollista valaisinta entisten asukkaiden jättämän riisipaperipallon tilalle ja löysimmekin kesällä sopivan kokoisen, kivannäköisen ja edullisen Vitan Silvia Mini -valaisimen. Valaisin tuli laatikossa osina, mutta kokoaminen oli niin helppoa, että tytär kokosi valaisimen itse, kun äiti ei tehnyt hommaa riittävän nopeasti. No, muutama pala oli vähän väärällä paikalla, mutta nyt on jokainen muovinpala oikealla kohdalla ja valo suodattuu kauniisti. Seinällä on myös melko uusi seinäkello, joka tikittää todella kuuluvasti, mutta se ei onneksi kuulemma häiritse. Naulakoksi löysin eBaysta Kartellin 80-luvun naulakon, joka antaa huoneen nurkkaan mukavasti ryhtiä ja johon voi ripustaa kassin poikineen. Hyvin on kai huoneen sisustus onnistunut, sillä asukas itse totesi eilen huonetta siivottuaan: "Mun huoneeni on oikeastaan aika kiva, silloin kun se on siisti."
(IT) La nostra secondogenita ha compiuto dieci anni quest'estate e ora si è spostata dalla scuola elementare al Gymnasium che è una scuola che continua direttamente fino alla maturità. A dieci anni i bambini sono contemporaneamente abbastanza piccoli e già un po' grandi, quindi la stanza non dev'essere troppo infantile anche se alcuni giocattoli e vari piccoli oggetti carini sono ancora molto importanti. Mia figlia ha cominciato a dire in primavera che vorrebbe una lampada più bella nella sua stanza al posto della lampada di carta di riso lasciata dagli inquilini precedenti. Il problema è stato risolto quando abbiamo trovato la lampada Silvia Mini di Vita che ha le dimensioni giuste e anche un ottimo prezzo. La lampada è venduta in scatola e bisogna montarla a casa ma non è difficile, visto che mia figlia l'ha fatto da sola quando si è stufata di aspettare il mio aiuto. Ho dovuto spostare solo alcuni petali di plastica che erano messi nei posti sbagliati e ora la lampada da una bellissima luce nella stanza. Abbiamo appeso anche un orologio al muro e ho trovato un appendiabiti anni '80 di Kartell su eBay. L'appendiabiti da un bel impatto visivo nell'angolo della stanza e offre tanto posto per appendere borse e altre cose. Penso che la stanza sia ben riuscito perchè mia figlia ha commentato ieri dopo aver sistemato un po' la stanza: "Veramente la mia stanza non è per nulla male quando è tutta in ordine."
(EN) Our younger daughter had her 10th birthday this summer and she has now moved from the elementary school to Gymnasium that is a school leading directly to the matriculation. A 10-year-old is still quite small but also so big that the room shouldn't be too childish anymore, even though some toys and all kinds of cute little things are still really important. My daughter started asking last spring if she could have a nicer lamp in her room instead of the rise paper lamp left by the previous renters. The problem was solved when we found the Silvia Mini lamp by Vita that's the perfect size for the room and also really affordable. The lamp arrives in a box and it must be assembled at home but it's not too difficult a job since my daughter did it herself because she got tired of waiting for my help. Okay, there were some pieces that weren't exactly in the right position but now all the plastic petals are put the way they should be and the lamp gives a really nicely filtered light in the room. Also the wall clock is quite new and I found the Kartell 80's coat rack on eBay. I think it's a nice feature in the corner of the room and it also offers lots of space for hanging bags and clothes. I think the decor is quite a success because my daughter commented yesterday after tiding up: "My room is actually quite nice when it's not messy."

Kirppikseltä löytynyt savulasikulho, johon taittelin arpalipukkeet, on muuten Sven Palmqvistin Orreforsille suunnittelemaa Fuga-sarjaa, joka on voittanut Milanon Triennalen Gran Prix -palkinnon vuonna 1957. Onneksi reunassa oli tarra tallessa, niin selvisi tämäkin mielenkiintoinen seikka.

A proposito, il vaso che ho usato per i bigliettini è progettato da Sven Palqvist per Orrefors e fa parte della serie Fuga che ha vinto il Gran Prix alla Triennale di Milano nel 1957. Ho scoperto tutto questo grazie all'adesivo rimasto attaccato al bordo del vaso.

By the way, the thrifted smoked glass bowl I used for the lottery tickets was designed by Sven Palmqvist for Orrefors and it's part of the Fuga series that won the Gran Prix at the Milan Triennale of 1957. I found this out thanks to the sticker still attached to the bowl.
