 Yhteistyössä Woodnotes*

(FI)  Hyvää joulukuun alkua! Nyt pääsette kurkistamaan meidän uudistuneeseen kylpyhuoneeseen, tai ainakin osaan siitä. Pitkänomainen tila jaettiin seinämällä kahteen osaan niin, että huoneen etuosaan muodostui pyykinhuoltosyvennys. Seinämän takana vasemmalla on suihkunurkka lasisilla taitto-ovilla. Perimmäisenä tilassa sijaitsevat saniteettikalusteet: bidee, wc-istuin ja tuplakäsienpesuallas. Pyykkäystila on vielä sen verran kesken, etten ottanut siitä kuvia,  ja suihkukin pääsee kuvaan vasta sitten, kun shampoohylly on kiinnitetty. Tällä kertaa siis katsotaan ikkunan puoleista päätyä.

Miehen ehdoton toive oli, että kylpyhuoneeseen tulee italialaisittain erillinen bideeallas, ja se sopi varsin hyvin suunnitelmaan, sillä halusin tilaan joka tapauksessa kaksi käsienpesuallasta. Nyt kalusteet sijaitsevat kauniisti vastakkain.  Ikkunan alla ollut lämpöpatteri korvattiin lattialammityksellä, ja lisäksi tilassa on suihkua vastapäätä pyyhekuivain. Seiniin valitsimme yksinkertaiset, pehmeän valkoiset mattalasitteiset laatat, ja lattiaan tuli vaaleanharmaata italialaista puristelaattaa.

Italialaisvaikutteita tasapainottamaan valitsin Oraksen Safira XL-allashanat ja bideehanan samaa sarjaa. Täällä Saksassa tuotemerkki on kyllä nimeltää Hansa. Mitoiltaan sopiva allaskaluste löytyi Ikean valikoimasta. En tykännyt yhtään vakiona tulevista vetimistä, jotka tuntuivat käteen todella epämukavilta, mutta niiden tilalle löytyi poistopisteestä valkoiset vetimet, jotka sopivat muotokieleltään tosi kivasti yhteen soikeiden altaiden kanssa. Wc- ja bideeistuimet sekä peilikaappi ovat Geberitin / Keramagin ja wc-istuin on kätevä huuhtelukaulukseton malli.

Ikkuna vaihdettiin remontin yhteydessä kirkaslasiseen, talon alkuperäisten arkkitehtipiirrosten mukaiseen ristikkoikkunaan, ja vaikka näkösuojaa tarvitaan, en halunnut peittää kokonaan näkymää ulos puutarhaan. Täydellinen verhoratkaisu löytyi Woodnotesin Screen-rullaverhovalikoimasta. Verhon kuosi on Vista ja väri valkoinen. Luonnonmateriaali antaa tilaan kaivattua pehmeyttä, ja verho suodattaa eteläikkunasta tulevan valon todella kauniisti. Sen verran läpinäkyvä verho on, ettei iltapimeällä ehkä kannata suihkuun mennessä sytyttää kaikkia valoja palamaan, mutta naapuritaloihin on onneksi matkaa ja tilassa useita teholtaan erilaisia valoratkaisuja, esimerkiksi peilikaapin alareunassa on epäsuoraa valoa antava ledinauha. Tunnelmavaloksi ikkunalle pääsi vielä ulkokäyttöönkin soveltuva Fatboyn ladattava Edison the Petit -valaisin. 

Moni ratkaisu talossamme on valitettavasti paloturvamääräysten sanelema, sillä kun ullakko rakennetaan asuinkäyttöön, paikalliset paloturvallisuusmääräykset vaikuttavat yhtäkkiä aika moneen muuhunkin tilaan. Me jouduimme rakentamaan koko yläkertaan alaslasketut paloturvakatot, koska välipohja oli puurakenteinen. Näihin kattoihin ei saanut tehdä spottivalojen vaatimia isoja aukkoja, joten kylpyhuoneen yleisvalaistus oli hoidettava perinteisillä valaisimilla. Loppujen lopuksi olen ihan tyytyväinen näihin Ikeasta löytyneisiin maitolasikupuisiin valaisimiin, joiden muoto sopii hyvin talon tyyliin. 

Kokonaisuutena kylpyhuonesuunnitelma onnistui mielestäni hyvin. Vaikka tila ratkaisuineen onkin täysin moderni, on siinä kuitenkin myös vähän vanhan talon henkeen sopivaa tunnelmaa. Mitä te tykkäätte muutoksesta?

(IT) Buon inizio dicembre! Ora vi faccio vedere il nostro nuovo bagno o almeno una parte della stanza. Lo spazio lungo è stato diviso in due parti in modo che la prima parte formi una zona lavanderia. Dietro il muro divisorio costruito a sinistra sta la cabina doccia con le porte in vetro pieghevoli. In fondo stanno i sanitari: il bidet, il water e il doppio lavabo. La zona lavanderia non è ancora del tutto pronta e anche la doccia la fotograferò solo quando avremo istallato anche la mensola porta shampoo. Quindi ora vediamo la parte che sta vicino alla finestra.

Mio marito ha assolutamente voluto nel bagno un bidet come si usa in Italia e ci stava anche bene, visto che volevo in ogni caso istallarci un doppio lavabo. Ora i sanitari stanno in un gruppo di due pezzi per lato. Il termosifone che stava sotto la finestra è stato sostituito con riscaldamento sotto il pavimento. Inoltre abbiamo qui anche uno scaldasalviette. Le piastrelle da pareti sono molto semplici con la superficie bianca opaca, le piastrelle italiane per pavimento in grigio chiaro sono in gres porcellanato. 

Per bilanciare l'influenza italiana ho scelto dei rubinetti finlandesi di Oras, Safira XL per i lavandini e la stessa serie anche per il bidet. Il lavabo con il mobile delle dimensioni giuste l'abbiamo trovato da Ikea. Non mi piacevano per nulla le maniglie standard del mobile, scomodissime da tirare, ma ho trovato altre maniglie bianche sempre da Ikea che ci stanno benissimo, grazie alla forma che assomiglia a quella dei lavandini. Il water e il bidet sono di Geberit / Keramag, il water è un praticissimo modello rimfree.

La finestra è stata cambiata con una simile ai disegni originali dell'architetto con il vetro trasparente. Anche se serviva chiaramente una tenda, non volevo coprire completamente la vista fuori sul giardino. La soluzione perfetta l'ho trovato nella tenda a rullo filtrante di Woodnotes. La fantasia si chiama Vista e l'abbiamo scelta nel colore bianco. Il materiale naturale della tenda in filati di carta porta un po' di contrasto e morbidezza alle superfici dure e il tessuto filtra la luce in modo molto bello. La tenda è parzialmente trasparente quindi la sera non è magari una buona idea accendere tutte le luci prima di infilarsi sotto la doccia ma le case di fronte non sono vicinissime e abbiamo varie soluzioni di illuminazione nello spazio. Per esempio l'armadio con gli specchi ha di sotto una luce led che dà luce indiretta non molto forte. Sul davanzale della finestra, dietro la tenda, abbiamo inoltre una lampada ricaricabile Edison the Petit di Fatboy che si può usare anche in esterni.

Tante soluzioni della casa sono purtroppo dettate dalle regole antincendio locali. Quando si costruisce la mansarda, le regole strettissime hanno effetto anche su tanti altri spazi. Noi purtroppo abbiamo dovuto costruire in tutte le stanze del primo piano controsoffitti antincendio, visto che la struttura portante sopra è in legno. Non è permesso fare aperture grandi per istallarci faretti ad incasso quindi bisognava progettare l'illuminazione usando lampade tradizionali. Alla fine sono piuttosto contenta della lampade che ho trovato,  pure queste da Ikea. La forma sta piuttosto bene con lo stile della casa. 

In generale mi sembra che la progettazione del bagno  sia riuscita bene. Anche se le soluzioni sono del tutto moderne, c'è comunque anche un po' di spirito della casa vecchia rimasto. Voi che pensate del bagno rinnovato?

Collaboration with Woodnotes

(EN) Happy beginning of December! Today I'm showing you our new bathroom or at least part of it. The long space was divided into two parts in order to create a separate laundry area. Behind the dividing wall on the left, there's the shower corner with folding glass doors. At the far end of the room are situated the toilet seat, the bidet and a double sink. The laundry space isn't quite finished yet and I'll take pictures of the shower only after we'll have also the shampoo shelf installed. So now we'll just concentrate on the window end of the room. 

My husband absolutely wanted to have a bidet like you always have in Italy and it was totally fine for me, since I in any case wanted to have a double sink. Now the sanitary fixtures are situated symmetrically on two sides of the room. There used to be a radiator under the window but we removed it and installed underfloor heating instead. There's also a towel warmer opposite to the shower. The wall tiles are really basic with white matte finishing and the light gray floor tiles are Italian porcelain tiles. 

To balance all the Italian influence I chose Finnish Safira XL mixers for the sinks and the bidet tap is also from the same series. We found a double sink with a cabinet with the ideal measurements at Ikea. I just didn't like the standard handles at all, they were really uncomfortable when you opened the drawers, but I found other white handles that suit the look perfectly. The toilet seat and the bidet and the mirror cabinet are by Geberit / Keramag, the toilet is a practical rimfree model.

The old window was changed into a new one, similar to the one in the original architect drawings and with a clear glass. We obviously needed a curtain, still I didn't want to cover completely the view to the garden. The Screen roller blind by Woodnotes offered the perfect solution. The pattern is called Vista and we chose it in white. The natural paper yard of the roller blind brings some warmth and contrast to the hard surfaces, and the light coming trough the south facing window is filtrated beautifully. The blind is a bit transparent so it's maybe not the best idea to turn on all the lights before taking a shower in the evening when it's dark outside, but luckily  the neighbouring houses aren't right behind the window and we have different lighting options in the space. For example, there's a led light under the mirror cabinet that gives only dim indirect light. On the window sill there's also a wireless Edison the Petit lamp that remains behind the roller blind.

Unfortunately there are various solutions in the house that are dictated by the local fire safety regulations. When you you do a loft conversion here, the regulations involve also many other spaces in the building. We for example had to build suspended fire resistant ceilings to the whole first floor because the above floor structure is made of wood. It wasn't allowed to do holes for recessed spot lights in these ceilings so I had to plan the lighting using traditional ceiling lights. At the end I'm quite happy with these Ikea lights; their shape adapts well to the style of the house.

On the whole I find that the bathroom plan worked out well. Even though the solutions are all modern, there's still somehow a bit old house feel in the space. So what do you think of our modernized bathroom?

Renovation advances

(FI) Hei taas! Tässä tulee pieni kuvasarja siitä, mitä meidän remonttityömaalla parhaillaan tapahtuu. Suuri osa pinnoista on jo valmiina ja osa on jo maalattukin. Usea seinä kaipaa kuitenkin vielä osittaista tai täydellistä tasoitusta ja niitä hommia tehdään koko ensi viikko. Putkimies tulee ensi viikolla myös asentamaan lämmitystä ja wc:n ja kylpyhuoneen kalusteita.

Alakertaan asennettiin tällä viikolla parketit ja sitä ennen oli tarkoitus maalata katot valmiiksi, mutta ihan ei mennyt taas suunnitelmien mukaan. Eteisessä tuli pieni mutka matkaan, sillä maalikerrosten alla oleva alin kerros ei ollut kunnolla kiinni ja katon pinta alkoi varista alas, kun sitä ryhtyi hiomisen jälkeen maalaamaan. Tuo katto pitää siis rapsutella vielä puhtaaksi ja maalata vasta sen jälkeen. Olohuoneen katossa oli myös sen verran paljon paklattavaa, että sekin maalataan uudestaan vasta ensi viikolla.

Tiistaina ja keskiviikkona tulevat keittiöasentajat paikalle, joten jänniä päiviä on tiedossa! Toivotaan että loppurutistus sujuu aikataulun mukaan. Valmiiseen kotiin emme pääse muuttamaan, se on selvää. Näillä näkymin muuton jälkeen jatkuvat portaikon ja väliovien maalaus sekä ullakkotilan rakentaminen asuinkuntoon, mutta tarkoitus olisi, että pari asuinkerrosta olisi muuten suurin piirtein valmiina ennen kuun vaihdetta.

(IT) Ciao! Ecco una serie di foto che mostrano cosa succede nel momento nel nostro cantiere. La maggior parte delle superfici è già pronta e alcune già anche imbiancate. Ci sono però ancora varie pareti che vanno ancora stuccate in parte o completamente quindi continueremo con quel lavoro la prossima settimana. L'idraulico verrà la prossima settimana ad istallare riscaldamenti e le ceramiche dei bagni.

Al piano terra è stato istallato il parquet questa settimana e volevamo imbiancare tutti i soffitti prima di ciò, ma non è andato proprio secondo i nostri piani. Nell'ingresso c'era un vecchio strato di vernice che non era ben aderita al fondo quindi la superficie ha cominciato a scrostarsi quando abbiamo iniziato ad imbiancare dopo la levigatura. Dovremo quindi grattare questo soffitto finché non è completamente pulito e imbiancare solo a quel punto. Anche il soffitto del soggiorno aveva ancora tanti punti da stuccare quindi la seconda passata di bianco verrà data la prossima settimana.

Martedì e mercoledì ci istalleranno la cucina, sono proprio curiosa di vedere il risultato! Speriamo che le prossime cose andranno secondo i piani. È chiaro che la casa non sarà completamente pronta prima del trasloco. Ora sembra che si continuerà a imbiancare la scala e verniciare le porte interne, nonché a costruire la mansarda dopo il trasloco. Per il resto gli spazi al piano terra e al primo piano dovrebbero essere abbastanza pronti prima della fine del mese.

(EN) Hi! Here's a few pictures that show what's happening with our renovation at the moment. Lots of surfaces are already finished and some also painted. Anyhow, there are lots of walls that still need to be partly or completely plastered so we'll continue with that next week. Next week also the plumber will be there installing the heating and the toilet and bathroom fixtures.

This week the parquet floorings were installed downstairs and we wanted to have all the ceilings painted before that but didn't quite succeed. The entry hall ceiling had an old paint layer that wasn't well attached to the base and the whole paint layer started crumbling down when we started painting. We'll need to remove all the paint and plaster rests and repaint on a clean surface after that. Also the living room ceiling still had lots of small holes we needed to fix so the second paint layer will be added next week.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the kitchen installation will take place, so exciting! Let's hope that the rest of the month we'll manage to stay in schedule. We won't move in a finished house, that's obvious. It looks like we'll continue with the staircase and door painting projects, as well as with the attic building when we already live in the house but we aim to have the downstairs and upstairs rooms pretty much ready in the next ten days. 

Garden before and after

(FI)  Hei pitkästä aikaa! Blogi on taas ollut hunningolla, mutta tämä kuvasarja kertoo hyvin, mihin kaikki mahdollinen aika on viime kuukausina mennyt. Ihanan lämpimät kesäsäät sallivat meidän tehdä puutarhan jo pitkälti valmiiksi ennen muuttoa, joten ensi kesänä kitketään lähinnä vain rikkaruohoja (niitä kyllä riittää, kun piha on ollut vuosia hoitamatta!) ja nautitaan lämpimästä eteläpihasta. Palaan toivottavasti pian myös remonttikuulumisten kera, nyt työmaalla tapahtuu todella paljon yhtaikaa ja alkaa olla myös muuta näytettävää kuin asennettuja putkia ja sähköjohtoja. Hyvää viikonloppua!

(IT) Ciao dopo tanto tempo! Ho trascurato il blog per un bel po' ma queste foto vi spiegheranno, dove abbiamo passato tutto il tempo possibile negli ultimi mesi. Grazie all'estate calda e piena di sole abbiamo potuto praticamente finire di sistemare il giardino della casa nuova prima del trasloco quindi la prossima estate dovremo solo tenere sotto controllo l'erbaccia (ce n'è tantissima, conseguenza del fatto che il giardino è stato lasciato senza cura per parecchi anni.) e goderci il giardino che si affaccia verso sud. Cercherò di tornare presto anche con le notizie sullo stato della ristrutturazione. In questo momento i lavori stanno andando avanti velocissimo e ci sono anche altre cose da mostrare oltre ai tubi e cavi elettrici nuovi. Buon fine settimana!

(EN) Hi, it's been a while! I haven't been able to dedicate any time to the blog lately but these pictures show you what we have been doing during the last months. Thanks to the wonderfully sunny and warm summer we have been able to practically finish the garden projects before moving in, so next year we will just have to root up weed (there's so much of it after years of neglecting the garden!) and enjoy the south-facing garden. I will try to come back soon to tell you about the renovation as well. Things are moving forward really fast at the moment so there are finally other things to show you besides new plumbing and electric wiring. Have a nice weekend!

The kitchen wall is gone!

(FI) Pitkä odotus on vihdoin palkittu: remonttifirma sai edellisen kohteen siihen kuntoon, että työmiehet siirtyivät meidän talomme kimppuun. Keittiön ja käytävän välinen kantava seinä ja käytävän alaslaskettu katto saivat eilen kyytiä ja täytyy sanoa, etten melkein uskonut silmiäni, kun menin iltapäivällä katsomaan tilannetta. Pienestä koppikeittiöstä oli tullut ihanan avara tila, johon voin nyt todellakin kuvitella meidän uuden keittiön. (Keittiösuunnitelmaa voi kurkata täältä.)

Tänään asentaja kävi katkaisemassa kaasut ja vedet, joten nyt voimme purkaa myös tiskipöytäkaapiston keittiön nurkasta. Keittiön ja olohuoneen välinen seinä pitää vielä puhkaista tuosta tarjoiluluukun kohdalta, mikä sekin parantaa tilankäyttöä. Parkettifirman mies kävi tänään katsomassa tilannetta, joten nyt odotellaan sieltä tarjousta lattioista. Ilmeisesti kuitenkaan vanhaa mosaiikkia ei kannata kunnostaa, sillä siinä on paljon irtonaisia ja huonokuntoisia paloja, eikä samaa kokoa nykyään löydy valmiina. Ehkä alakertaan siis tulee yhtenäinen parkettilattia, josta olin haaveillut. 

Keittiön ja eteisen välinen aukko pienenee vähän nykyisestä, sillä sen joka reunaan tulee teräspalkki tukemaan kattoa, ja ajattelin myös laskea aukon yläreunaa muiden oviaukkojen tasalle. Näin eteistila erottuu hieman enemmän omaksi kokonaisuudekseen, vaikkei tilojen välille suljettavaa ovea tulekaan.

Nyt näitä remonttipäivityksiä rupeaa toivottavasti tulemaan vähän säännöllisesti, kun hommat alkavat edetä vauhdilla. Remppafirman mukaan muutto lokakuussa on ihan realistinen aikataulu, joten siihen tähdätään!

(IT) La lunga attesa è finalmente finita: l'impresa di costruzioni ha finito con il progetto precedente e ha iniziato a lavorare nella nostra casa. Ieri hanno abbattuto il muro tra la cucina e il corridoio nonché demolito il soffitto ribassato del corridoio. Devo dire che non riuscivo quasi a credere ai miei occhi quando sono andata a vedere la situazione ieri pomeriggio. La cucina piccolina era diventata uno spazio grande ed aperto e ora ci posso immaginare la nostra nuova cucina. (il progetto di cucina si può vedere qui.)

Oggi l'idraulico ha chiuso il gas e l'acqua quindi possiamo smontare anche il mobile lavandino che sta ancora nell'angolo della cucina. Il muro tra la cucina e il soggiorno verrà pure aperto, il che migliorerà ancora l'utilizzo dello spazio. Oggi è venuto anche un tipo a vedere i pavimenti e possiamo aspettare la loro offerta per i nuovi parquet. Sembra che non convenga restaurare il vecchio parquet, visto che ci sono tanti pezzi staccati e rovinati e la dimensione non è quella standard di oggi. Insomma, forse avremo su questo livello il parquet continuo come avevo sognato.

L'apertura tra la cucina e l'ingresso non sarà proprio tanto grande perché su tutti i lati bisogna istallare una trave di supporto. Penso anche di far costruire un po' di muro sopra in modo che sia sullo stesso livello delle altre porte. Così l'ingresso sarà un po' separato dalla cucina, anche se non si potrà chiudere con una porta.

Spero di poter scrivere in seguito post sulla ristrutturazione in modo più regolare, visto che le cose vanno avanti. Secondo la ditta è realistico pensare di fare il trasloco in ottobre. Ecco quindi cosa cercheremo di fare durante le vacanze di autunno!

(EN) The long wait has finally came to an end: our contractor finished their previous project and started to work on our house.Yesterday they removed the wall between the kitchen and the corridor and demolished the dropped ceiling in the corridor. I must say, I almost didn't believe my eyes when I went to see the situation yesterday afternoon. The small kitchen had become an open and spacious room where I can really imagine our new kitchen. (You can see the kitchen plan here.)

Today the plumber turned off the water and the gas so we can disassemble also the sink cabinet in the kitchen corner. The wall between the kitchen and the living room will be opened where there's the serving window so the space solution will be even more practical. Also the parquet company came to see the floors today so we can wait for their bid. Obviously it's not a good idea to restore the old mosaique parquet since there are lots of loose and ruined pieces of wood and the size is not today's standard. Maybe we'll have a new parquet that continues on all this level, just like I wanted.

The opening between the kitchen and the entry hall won't remain quite this open since we'll have steel beams on all sides and I also think it's a good idea to build a  little bit of wall above the opening so that the height will be the same as the other doors. This makes the entry a bit more separate even though there won't be any doors you can close.

I hope to be able to write in the future more regularly posts on the renovation, now that things are moving forward. Our contractor says it's quite realistic to think about moving in October so that's our plan for the autumn holidays!

Kitchen Plan

(FI) Uuden kodin keittiösuunnitelmat ovat edenneet jo siihen pisteeseen, että keittiön kalustesuunnitelma on valmis ja keittiö pantu tilaukseen. Keittiön meille toimitaa Küchentreff, sillä sieltä löytyi järkevään hintaan kokonaisuus, jonka saimme räätälöityä halutun laiseksi. Keittiösuunnitelman valmistuminen jo tässä vaiheessa oli tärkeää, koska vaihdamme pohjaratkaisun täysin erilaiseksi ja vesi- kaasu- ja sähkövedot täytyy tuoda remontoidessa oikealle kohdalle.

Materiaaleiltaan keittiöstä tulee hyvin yksinkertainen: valkoiset vetimettömät mattamaalatut ovet ja valkoinen kvartsitaso. Koska ikkunat ovat pohjoiseen, en edes harkinnut tänne tummempia kalusteita, ja valkoinen keittiö on klassikko, josta olen aina tykännyt. Vetimetön ratkaisu on tehty niin, että oven takana on tilaa vetää ovi auki, ovien reunoissa ei siis ole mitään uria. Huoneen takaseinälle tulee kaappeja kattoon asti, jotta säilytystila saadaan maksimoitua. Työskentelyä varten keskelle huonetta tulee 240 cm pitkä ja 100 cm syvä saareke, jonka ääreen tulee myös paikka parille baarituolille.

Lähes kaikki kodinkoneet valittiin Neffiltä, ainoastaan astianpesukone on Mielen malli. Jääkaappi täytyy vielä etsiä itse, sillä haluan sellaisen jääpalakoneettoman mallin, joka ei tule liikaa ulos kaapistosta. Integroitu jääkaappiratkaisu olisi tietysti ollut ihanteellinen, mutta yksi 60-senttinen jää-pakastinkaappi on meille liian vähän, enkä toisaalta halunnut uhrata 120 senttiä kaapiston leveydestä kahdelle vierekkäiselle kylmälaitteelle. Jenkkikaapilla siis mennään, ja toivon toisaan löytäväni sellaisen mallin, joka uppoaa mahdollisimman hyvin kaapistoon.

Erityisen onnellinen olen siitä, että saamme jälleen kaasulieden, sillä taloon tulee kaupunkikaasu jo ihan lämmitystäkin varten. Lieden ylle tulee liesituuletin, jolle vedetään poistohormi ulkoseinään. Hanaksi valitsimme Blancon mustan hanan, jossa on ulosvedettävä pää. Astianpesukone sijoittuu tiskialtaan oikealle puolelle ja altaan alla on jätevaunu. Lieden alla on leveä laatikosta ja vieressä vielä 30-senttinen apteekkikaappi maustepulloja ym. varten.

Pieniä kompromisseja keittiössä oli pakko tehdä, mutta toiminnot saatiin kuitenkin minusta ihan hyvin järjestettyä rajalliseen tilaan. Alla olevassa arkkitehdin piirroksessa näkyy, miten viereinen käytävä avataan osaksi keittiötä ja eteisessä olevat kaksi oviaukkoa yhdistetään yhdeksi suureksi aukoksi. Keittiöstä puhkaistaan lisäksi kulku olohuoneeseen kellarin oven ohi. 

Yläkerran porrastasanne pakottaa jättämään keittiön ja olohuoneen välissä sijaitsevan osan kattoa matalaksi ja korkeitten kalusteitten vasemmalle puolelle jää pätkä seinää, johon puretun seinän tilalle katonrajaan tuleva teräspalkki tukeutuu. Vanhoissa taloissa joutuu joskus tekemään tällaisia vähän outoja ratkaisuja, mutten usko, että se valmiina oikeastaan häiritsee. Joka tapauksessa pohjaratkaisusta tulee paljon toimivampi, kun keittiö avartuu ja alakerrassa pääsee kiertämään ympäri.

Kollaasiin kokosin vielä kiinteää keittiöratkaisua täydentäviä juttuja. Flosin Glo-Ball-valaisimen ajattelin sjoittaa saarekkeen toiseen päähän, sillä liesituulettimen ledivalot eivät riitä keittiö ainoaksi valonlähteeksi. Samoin Flosin Foglio-valaisin tulee portaikon vastaiselle seinälle; se antaa yleisvaloa muttei häikäise, koska valonlähteet jäävät metalliosan taakse. Artekin hyllyt ja Iris Hantverkin naulakon aion sijoittaa olohuoneen oviaukon lähelle kellarin portaita vastapäätä, sillä siihen jää pieni syvennys kahden hormirakennelman väliin.

Baarituolit tulevat tietysti saarekkeen ääreen, tikkaat ja tarjouluvaunu voisivat nekin olla kokoontaitettuina tuossa välikkötilassa. Matto tulee saarekkeen taakse vähän piiloon ja ikkunan oikealla puolella olevaan nurkkaan aion sijoittaa alimman kuvan metallihyllyn ja sen yläpuolelle mahdollisesti String Pocketin. Nurkkauksesta tulee vähän aamiaiskaapin korvike, sinne päätyvät kahvinkeittovälineet, hiilihapotuskone ja leivänpaahdin ym. eli usein tarvittavat jutut, jotka kuitenkin saarekkella häiritsisivät.

Miltäs suunnitelma vaikuttaa? Itse en malttaisi odottaa remontin valmistumista, uudessa keittiössä keittöhommat tuntuvat varmasti ihan luksukselta, kun ratkaisut on vihdoin mietitty toimiviksi ja saarekkeen ääreen mahtuu useampi kokki yhtaikaa! <3

(IT) I piani sulla cucina della nuova casa sono arrivati al punto che il progetto è fatto e la cucina è stata ordinata. La cucina viene da Küchentreff dove abbiamo trovato a prezzo ragionevole quello che volevamo. Era importante fissare il piani per la cucina già a questo punto, visto che cambieremo completamente la soluzione e l'acqua, il gas e l'elettricità devono essere portati nei punti giusti durante i lavori grandi.

I materiali scelti sono molto semplici: sportelli bianco opaco senza maniglie e un ripiano di quarzo bianco. Siccome le finestre nello spazio sono verso il nord, non ho neanche pensato di usare colori scuri, e la cucina bianca è un classico che mi è sempre piaciuto. La soluzione senza maniglie è fatta in modo che dietro gli sportelli c'è un po' di spazio per infilarci la mano. Sul muro di dietro ci saranno sportelli fino al soffitto per utilizzare lo spazio al meglio. Nel centro della stanza ci sarà un isola di cucina con lunghezza di 240 cm e profondità di 100 cm e posto per un paio di sgabelli.

Quasi tutti gli elettrodomestici saranno della marca Neff, soltanto la lavastoviglie è di Miele. Il frigorifero lo dovrò ancora cercare, voglio trovare un modello che non esca troppo dai mobili. L'ideale sarebbe naturalmente una soluzione ad incasso ma un frigo/congelatore largo 60 cm non ci basta e non volevo utilizzare 120 cm di spazio,. Quindi la soluzione sarà un frigo largo 90 cm, speriamo che si trovi un modello che ci stia bene.

Sono specialmente contenta del fatto che avremo di nuovo una cucina a gas, la casa ha anche l'impianto di riscaldamento a gas. Sopra i fornelli ci sarà una cappa aspirante per cui si farà un buco nel muro. Il rubinetto sarà un modello nero di Blanco con una doccetta estraibile. La lavastoviglie sarà a destra del lavandino e sotto il lavandino ci sarà un cassetto con cestini per la raccolta differenziata. Sotto i fornelli ci sono cassetti larghi e accanto c'è ancora un armadietto estraibile per le bottiglie d'olio ecc.

Qualche piccolo compromesso l'abbiamo dovuto fare ma mi sembra che siamo riusciti a posizionare tutte le funzioni piuttosto bene in uno spazio limitato. Nel disegno del nostro architetto si vede come il corridoio accanto diventa parte della cucina e le due aperture verso l'ingresso diventano un'apertura grande. Inoltre faremo un'apertura nel muro del soggiorno in modo che ci si riesca a passare direttamente dietro la porta della scala della cantina.

Il pianerottolo del piano di sopra fa sì che dovremo lasciare il soffitto abbassato tra la cucina e il soggiorno e a sinistra dei mobili alti ci resterà un pezzetto di muro per dare appoggio alla trave in acciaio. Nelle vecchie case servono a volte soluzioni un po' strane ma non credo darà fastidio una volta finito tutto. In ogni caso la nuova soluzione sarà molto più funzionale con la cucina più ampia e il passaggio diretto dalla cucina al soggiorno.

Ho raccolto nel collage altri elementi che metteremo nella cucina. La lampada Glo-Ball di Flos la metteremo sopra l'isola di cucina, visto che le luci a led della cappa aspirante non basteranno per illuminare tutta la stanza. La lampada Foglio, pure quella di Flos, troverá un posto sul muro accanto alla scala. Mi piace il fatto che illumini senza abbagliare. Le mensole di Artek e l'appendiabiti di Iris Hantverk li penso di mettere di fronte alla porta della cantina tra le due colonne.

Gli sgabelli da bar staranno naturalmente accanto all'isola, la scaletta e il carrello per servire possono essere chiusi sotto le mensole di Artek. Il tappeto lo metterei un po' nascosto dietro l'isola per proteggere il pavimento e nell'angolo a destra della finestra penso di mettere il sideboard in metallo che si vede nell'ultima foto, possibilmente con la mensola String Pocket di sopra. Quest'angolo sarà un posto dove tenere le cose come le caffettiere, il Soda Stream, il tostapane ecc, insomma le cose che servono spesso ma che darebbero fastidio sull'isola.

Come vi sembra il piano? Io non vedo l'ora di avere la cucina pronta, sarà veramente un lusso lavorarci! Finalmente avremo di nuovo una cucina con soluzioni pratiche e spazio per varie persone per lavorare insieme!  <3

(EN) The new home kitchen plan has arrived to a point where the planning is done and the kitchen has been ordered. We will get the kitchen from Küchentreff where we found the chance to have the solutions we wanted at a reasonable price. It was important to have the kitchen plans ready this early since we're completely changing the solutions and we need to bring the water, gas and electricity to the righg places.

The materials we chose are quite simple: white painted doors without handles and white quartz tops. Since the windows of this space face north, I never even thought of using darker colours, and a white kitchen is a classic I have always loved. The handleless solution is made in a way that there's some space behind the doors so you can simply pull the door open with your hand. The back wall cupboards will continue till the ceiling so we will have as much storage space as possible. In the middle of the room we'll have a 240 cm long and 100 cm wide kitchen island with a place for a couple of bar stools.

Almost all the kitchen appliances will be by Neff, only the dishwasher is by Miele. I still need to find the right fridge, since I want a model that isn't much deeper than the cupboards. Obviously my first choice would have been perfect having built-in fridge and freezer but just one 60 cm wide wouldn't be enough and I didn't want to sacrifice 120 cm of space. So a 90 cm wide fridge will have to do and I really hope to find a model that disappears a bit more to the cupboards.

I'm especially happy that we'll have a gas stove, the house is even heated with gas. Above the stove we'll have an extractor hood, we'll just need to do a hole in the wall. The mixer tap we chose is a Blanco model with extendable spray head. The dishwasher is on the right side of the sink and below the sink there's a drawer with recycling bins. Under the stove there are wide drawers and next to it a 30 cm slide out cabinet for oil bottles etc.

Small compromises were necessary but I do think that we managed to organize all the functions pretty well in the limited space. In the architect drawing you can see how the corridor next to kitchen becomes part of it and the two openings to the entry hall become just a big one. An opening from the kitchen to the living room, passing in front of the basement door will also be created.

The upstairs stair landing forces us to leave a lowered ceiling in the space leading from the kitchen to the living room and some wall will remain on the left side of the cabinet wall to support the steel beam that will be put where the wall used to be. In an old house you sometimes need to do some awkward solutions but I'm sure they won't disturb once everything is done. Anyhow, the downstairs solution will be much more functional with the bigger kitchen and the possibility to go directly from the kitchen to the living room.

In the collage I put some things that will complete the kitchen design. The Glo-Ball light by Flos will be hung over the kitchen island, since the hood lights won't be enough for illuminating the whole space. The Foglio light, also by Flos, will find a place on the wall against the stairs. I like the fact that it illuminates without dazzling since the lamps remain behind the metal leaf. The Artek shelves and the Iris Hantverk coat rack will be put in front of the basement door between the two columns.

The bar stools will be used by the kitchen island and the ladder and the tea trolley could be kept under the Artek shelves. The carpet will be hidden behind the island and in the corner on the right of the window I want to put the metal shelf you can see in the last picture, possible with the String Pocket shelf above it. This corner will be kind of a breakfast corner, a place to keep coffee pots, the toaster and other things you need often but would disturb on the island top.

So, what do you think? I can't wait having the kitchen ready, it will be such a luxury cooking there. Finally we'll have again a real family kitchen with functional solutions and space for more people to work together! <3

(FI) Eräs haastavimmista tiloista uudessa kodissamme on sen eteinen tuulikaappeineen. Vaikka eteisessä on ihan reilusti neliöitä, ehjää seinää löytyy ainostaan pienten kaari-ikkunoiden välistä. Muut seinät ovat käytännössä pelkkää oviaukkoa, eikä niille voi sijoittaa mitään kalusteita. Tuulikaappi taas on todella kapea ja ulko-ovi aukeaa saksalaiseen tapaan sisäänpäin, mikä rajoittaa suuresti tilan käyttöä.

Tiedän nyt jo, että kenkäsäilytys tulee olemaan melkoinen ongelma. Kesällä ehkä vielä pärjätään, mutta talvikengät vievät paljon tilaa. Luultavasti ainoa ratkaisu on se, että ainoastaan juuri käytössä olevat jalkineet yritetään saada mahtumaan eteistiloihin ja muille on keksittävä säilytyspaikka jostakin muualta.

Talon entiset omistajat jättivät meille ystävällisesti tuon ensimmäisessä kollaasissa näkyvän vanhan valkoisen vaatekomeron, johon mahtuu ihan kiva määrä takkeja ja pari kerrosta kenkiä niiden alle. Tuulikaapin vessan puoleisella seinustalla on juuri sen verran syvyyttä, että siihen mahtuu Ikean kenkäkaappi. Pipot, hanskat ja huivit täytyy järjestää komeroon vaatetangon yläpuolella olevalle hyllylle. Komeron viereen tulee Latva-naulakko, joka on riittävän kapea tilaan. Epäilen nimittäin, etteivät kaikki perheejäsenet saa takkiaan joka kerta ripustettua komeron sisälle asti.

Olohuoneen puoleisen kaari-ikkunan eteen ajattelin sijoittaa tuolin, jonka voi nostaa tarvittaessa lisätuoliksi ruokapöydän ääreen. Kaari-ikkunat vaihtuvat lämpölasisiin ikkunoihin, sillä lasimaalaukset eivät ole mitään mestariteoksia ja haluan, että ikkunat voi avata normaalisti. Samalla myös ikkunalauta, joka jää nyt  seinän tasolle kiinnitetyn lisälasin taakse, vapautuu käyttöön. Toiselle ikkunalle voisi sijoittaa kupin, johon voi heittää kotiin tullessa avaimet, ja toiselle ikkunalle sopii pieni valaisin tuomaan tunnelmaa.

Tuo alkuperäinen laattalattia on minusta todella kaunis, mutta useat laatat ovat valitettavasti rikki, joten siistiä siitä ei enää saa. Haluaisin tähän kerrokseen yhtenäisen parkettilattian, katsotaan miten sen kanssa käy. Jos olohuoneen mosaiikkiparketti kannattaa kunnostaa, voisi parkettia jatkaa kalanruodoladonnalla eteiseen ja keittiöön. Olohuoneen lattian tumma reunus kannattaa luultavasti joka tapauksessa vaihtaa, niin suuri osa paloista on irti.

Kattovalaisimeksi eteiseen on suunnittella Marsetin iso Soho-plafondi, joka meiltä jo löytyy. Seiniin ajattelin vaaleaa neutraalia sävyä, joka jatkuisi portaita ylös yläkerran aulaan. Pieni kontrasti valkoisiin ovenpieliin ja kalusteisiin korostaisi niitä kivasti. Lattialle tulee luultavasti vielä jokin matto, mutta katsotaan sitä sitten, kun kalusteet ovat paikoillaan.

Tuulikaapin lattia on tällä hetkellä koholla ja kynnysmatto omassa kolossaan. Jos lattian voi madaltaa, niin että ulko-oven saa yhä avattua, haluaisin koko tuulikaapin lattiaan sisalmaton tyyppisen maton, joka keräisi kengissä kantautuvan lian tehokkaammin kuin pikkuinen kynnysmatto. Ulko-oven sisäpuolelle suunnittelen verhoa, sillä en halua, että kadulta näkee suoraan sisään. 

Kaikki talon ovetkin kaipaavat tietysti huoltomaalausta. Puisen ulko-oven saatan maalata sisältä valkoiseksi ja ulkoa mustaksi, sillä lakkapinta on alkanut vähän hilseillä. Muut ovet saavat raikkaan valkoisen pinnan, kunhan ehdin niihin hommiin. Väliovet eivät ole kiireellisyyslistalla ihan kärkipäässä. Nuo ruutuikkunaiset väliovet ovat sävytettyä lasia ja olohuoneen pariovissa on yksi rikkinäinen lasi. Saattaa olla, ettei samanlaista lasia enää löydy, joten oveen/oviin saattaa vaihtua tavallista kirkasta lasia.

Tuulikaapin kattoon löysin jo Manufactumista kivan ja edullisen pallovalaisimen, jossa on kirkas lasi ja posliininen kanta. Täytyy muistaa asennuttaa tilaan myös pistorasia, jotta kenkäkaapin päällekin voi sijoittaa valaisimen ja jouluna voi vetää jouluvalot oven raosta. 

Seinälle kenkäkaapin yläpuolelle ajattelin kiinnittää meidän Utensilon, jossa voi säilöä kaikenlaista pientä tarpeellista. Avaimia tuulikaapissa ei uskalla säilyttää, kun ovessa on nuo ikkunat, mutta taskulamput, heijastimet, bussiliput, kynät ja muistilaput on nekin saatava johonkin. Voi olla, että vastakkaiselle seinälle pitää kiinnittää vielä ylimääräinen naulakko vierasvaraksi, jos innostutaan välillä pitämään vähän isommat juhlat.

(IT) Uno degli spazi più difficili da arredare della nostra nuova casa è l'ingresso. Anche se i metri quadri non sono pochi, l'unico pezzo di parete intera rimane tra le due finestre piccole, le altre pareti hanno più porte che muro. La stanzetta subito dopo la porta d'ingresso è molto stretta e com'è tipico qui in Germania, la porta si apre verso l'interno il che limita molto l'utilizzo dello spazio.

So già che avremo troppo poco spazio per le scarpe. In estate non sarà tanto un problema ma le scarpe invernali di quattro persone richiedono molto spazio. L'unica soluzione sarà quella di tenere nell'ingresso solo le scarpe in utilizzo e trovare un posto altrove in casa per quelle che non servono in quel momento.

Gli ex-proprietari della casa hanno gentilmente lasciato a noi l'armadio bianco che si vede nel primo collage e che offre spazio per una bella quantità di giacche. Sotto ci sono un paio di ripiani per le scarpe nonché due cassetti. Nella stanzetta piccola potremo inoltre mettere un portascarpe di Ikea sul lato accanto al bagno. I berretti, i guanti e le scarpe si possono mettere sul ripiano sopra le giacche all'interno dell'armadio. Tra il bagno e l'armadio ci metteremo l'appendiabiti Latva che ha le dimensioni perfette per quel posto. Sono sicura che non tutti i membri della famiglia ce la faranno a posare la giacca sempre dentro l'armadio.

Davanti alla finestra vicino al soggiorno penso di mettere una sedia che si potrà poi portare in soggiorno quando servono più sedie intorno al tavolo da pranzo. Le finestre saranno cambiate, le vetrate non sono esattamente dei capolavori e voglio poter aprire le finestre normalmente. Così si libera anche il davanzale che ora resta dietro il vetro aggiunto sul livello del muro. Penso che vicino al bagno ci potrebbe stare una ciotola dove mettere le chiavi e dietro la sedia una lampadina che si può accendere la sera.

Il vecchio pavimento in pietra mi piace tanto ma ci sono purtroppo tante piastrelle rotte. Vorrei avere un parquet continuo su tutto questo livello e se si restaura il parquet originale del soggiorno si potrebbe continuare con lo stesso legno ma come spina di pesce nell'ingresso e nella cucina. Il bordo scuro del soggiorno sarà probabilmente da sostituire, visto che ci sono tanti pezzi staccati.

Come lampada da soffitto penso che utilizzeremo la grande plafoniera Soho di Marset che abbiamo già. Per le pareti sto pensando a un colore chiaro e neutro che continuerebbe nella scala e nell'aula al piano di sopra. Con le porte e i mobili bianchi dovrebbe dare la giusta quantità di contrasto. Per terra metteremo qualche tappeto ma ci penseremo quando avremo i mobili in posto.

Il pavimento della stanzetta è ora un po' rialzato e ci hanno fatto un buco per lo zerbino. Se fosse possibile abbassare il livello del pavimento, preferirei metterci un tappeto tipo sisal grande in modo che fermi tutto lo sporco che entra nelle scarpe. Dietro la porta d'ingresso voglio mettere una tenda in modo che non si veda direttamente dentro casa dalla strada.

Naturalmente anche tutte le porte vanno verniciate. Il portone potrebbe diventare bianco dentro e nero fuori, in ogni caso la laccatura si sta già scrostando. Le porte interne avranno una nuova passata di bianco ma questo non è tanto in alto sulla lista delle cose da fare. I vetri nelle porte sono di una sfumatura che probabilmente non si troverà più e in una delle porte tra l'ingresso e il soggiorno c'è un vetro rotto. Potremmo quindi cambiarli vetri normali trasparenti che secondo me sono anche più belli.

Ho già trovato da Manufactum per la stanzetta una lampada da soffitto che mi piace tanto. È in vetro trasparente e in porcellana. Devo ricordarmi di dire all'elettricista di istallare anche qui una presa per poter avere una lampadina sopra la scarpiera e per poter portare facilmente le luci di natale fuori.

Sul muro sopra la scarpiera penso di attaccare l'Utensilo per poterci conservare varie cose piccole. Le chiavi non le terrei nella stanzetta, visto che ci sono i vetri sulla porta, ma le lampade tascabili, i biglietti per l'autobus, le penne e le note devono pure essere messe da qualche parte. Può essere che di fronte alla scarpiera ci vorrà ancora un portabiti per quando si organizza una festa e ci sono più ospiti a casa.

(EN) One of the most difficult spaces to furnish in our new home is the entry area. Even though there's quite a lot of room, the only place to put furniture in the entry hall is the wall between the two small windows. The other three walls are full of doors and openings. The small entryway instead is really narrow and since the front door opens inwards like it usually does here in Germany, it really limits the use of that space.

I already know we will have problems with the shoe storage. In the summer it might still work but winter shoes for four persons need lots of space. The only solution will probably be to keep in the entry only the shoes that are used at the moment and find another place somewhere for the ones not needed during that season.

The previous owners of the house were kind enough to leave us the old wardrobe in the first collage. It will take a nice number of coats and some shoes under them. In the entryway on the guest wc side we will put our old Ikea shoe cabinet. On the wardrobe shelves above the coats there's some space for scarves and gloves. Between the wardrobe and the guest wc we'll have the Latva coat rack that has the perfect measurements for the space. I'm sure it will be needed since all the family members won't have the patience to hang there coats in the wardrobe anyway.

In front of the window close to the living room I will put a chair that can also be used as an extra chair by the dining table. The arched windows will be changed into double-glazed ones since the stained glass pictures aren't actually great works of art and I also want to be able to open the windows normally. The window sills that now remain behind the extra glass, added on the wall level, will be uncovered again so we could have a bowl for the keys on one side and a little lamp on the other. 

I really like the original stone floors but there are lots of broken tiles. I would love to have continuous parquet floors on this level. If we'll restore the parquet floors in the living room we could continue with the same wood in herringbone pattern in the entry hall and in the kitchen. In any case I think the dark border in the living room should be replaced, there are so many loose pieces.

For the ceiling we already have a Soho plafond by Marset. For the walls I'm thinking about a light and neutral tone that continues also in the staircase and in the upstairs hall. It would give the right amount of contrast to the white doors and furniture. We will probably add a carpet on the floor but I'll think about that when all the furniture is there.

At the moment the entryway floor is elevated and there's a hole made for the doormat. If it's possible to lower the floor I would prefer having one big sisal rug in the space so it would stop all the dirt that enters in the shoes. I also want to add a curtain in the front door so you can't see inside from the street.

Obviously we need to paint also all the doors in the house. I might paint the wooden front door black outside and white inside since the lacquer is starting to come off. The other doors will get a new fresh layer of white paint as soon as I'll get to it. Anyhow, the inner doors aren't exactly high on my to do list. The glazing in the internal doors is in coloured glass you probably can't find anymore. Since one of the small windows in the double doors is broken, we might replace them all with normal transparent glass.

I already found the perfect ceiling light for the entryway from Manufactum. It's made in clear glass and porcelain. I must remember to tell the electrician that we need a socket in this space as well so it's possible to put a lamp on the shoe cabinet and use it for outdoor Christmas lights as well.

On the wall above the shoe cabinet we will put our Utensilo. I wouldn't have the keys in this space with the glazed front door but you do need a place for all the small stuff like torches, bus tickets, pens and notes. On the opposite wall we might need to add an extra coat rack for when we're throwing a party and the house is full of guests.

New Home in the Making

(FI) Bloggaajaporukkamme jatkaa tänäkin vuonna kuukausittaisilla teemapostauksilla. Tammikuussa ihanan visuaalisen Coffee Table Diary -blogin Giselda kyselee meiltä sisustushaaveistamme:

"Haaveillaanko hetki? Uusi vuosi saa useimmilla meistä sisustushaaveet nousemaan pintaan. Haaveissa voi olla sisustaa uusi koti, parempi järjestys säilyratkaisujen päivityksellä, pintojen raikastus, tai vaikka tuoda uutta väriä sisustukseen. Toki myös ihanilla uusilla kalusteilla, valaisimilla, tekstiileillä ja sisustusesineillä - tai olemassa olevien kierrättämisellä, saa kodin ilmettä tehokkaasti päivitettyä. Mikä parasta, haaveilla voi isostikin, vaikka itse toteutus etenisi omalla tahdillaan! Millaisia sisustushaaveita sinulla on vuodelle 2018?"

Minun ainoa sisustushaaveeni on päästä sisustamaan tänä vuonna uutta kotiamme. Haaveilen siitä, että saamme talon remontoitua valmiiksi ja meillä on uusi toimiva keittiö kaasuliedellä, kylpyhuoneet, joissa on riittävästi säilytystilaa purkeille ja puteleille, ja ympärillä pintamateriaaleja, joiden kanssa on hyvä elää. Ylipäänsä haaveilen siis siitä, että saamme vihdoin taas kodin, jonka ratkaisuihin voimme itse vaikuttaa. 

Uusi kotimme on kaupunkirivitalo eli omakotitalo, joka on toiselta sivulta kiinni naapuritalossa ja toiselta autotallirakennuksessa. Meillä on siis yhdet varsinaiset seinänaapurit. Talo on rakennettu vuonna 1951 ja remonttia on tehty viimeksi joskus 70-luvulla. Ainoastaan ikkunat on uusittu hiljattain lämpölasillisiksi. (Alkuperäiset olivat kyllä paljon kauniimmat pikkuruutuiset ikkunat, sellaiset olisi kiva vaihtaa jossakin vaiheessa jatkossa takaisin.) Joudumme valitettavasti uusimaan pintojen lisäksi koko talotekniikan ja katon. Valtaosa remonttibudjetista menee siis ihan siihen, että talo saadaan nykystandardien mukaiseksi. 

Vaikka ostoprosessi on yhä vähän kesken, myyjäosapuoli tyhjensi talon viime viikolla ja antoi meille luvan aloittaa purkutyöt. Niinpä viikonloppuna revimme jo kokolattiamattoja lattioista ja tapetteja seiniltä. Suurin yllätys löytyi olohuoneen kokolattiamaton alta: siellä oli melko hyväkuntoiselta vaikuttava sauvaparketti. Materiaali on ilmeisesti pähkinää, joka on reunustettu seinustalla tummemmalla wengeraidalla. Nyt täällä pohditaan kuumeisesti, kunnostetaanko vanha parketti ja jatketaan kerroksen lattioita tyyliin sopivasti vai pitäydytäänkö alkuperäisessä suunnitelmassa, jonka mukaan alakertaan tulisi yhtenäinen vaalea kalanruotoparketti.

Eteisen seinien tapetinpoisto sujuu varsin hitaasti, sillä vanhoja tapettikerroksia näyttäisi olevan kuusi. Mutta alta paljastuva kiviseinä on kaiken vaivan arvoinen. Tapetit onkin tarkoitus poistaa asunnosta kauttaaltaan ja maalata kaikki seinät. Portaiden kokolattiamaton alla on odotetusti puiset portaat, mutta niiden kunnosta ei voi sanoa mitään, ennen kuin kaikki askelmat on puhdistettu. Portaiden vieressä oleva käytävä on tarkoitus avata osaksi keittiötä, mutta se ei olekaan ihan helppo homma, kun yläpuolella on portaat ja seinä on kantava. Tukipalkkeja tullaan tarvitsemaan eikä ihan parilla taideta selvitä.

Tällä hetkellä talossa on kaksi asuinkerrosta, joissa on kolme makuuhuonetta, olohuone, keittiö, kylpyhuone ja erillinen wc, mutta kylmälle ullakolle on tarkoitus rakentaa iso ullakkohuone, kylpyhuone ja vaatehuonee. Siitä tulee näillä näkymin meidän vanhempien valtakuntaa, ja lapset saavat huoneet keskikerroksesta. Kellarissa on vielä lisätilaa ja etenkin mielenkiintoinen baijerilaistyylinen puupaneloitu "party room", joka on tarkoitus ottaa vähän toisenlaiseen käyttöön. Olohuoneen jatkeena on pieni terassi, jolta on kulku portaita pitkin suoraan puutarhaan.

Näytän muistakin tiloista kuvia, kunhan ehdin kuvata niitä valoisaan aikaan, ja kerron jatkossa vähän yksityiskohtaiemmin remonttisuunnitelmista. Tällainen pikku projekti meillä on kuitenkin tänä vuonna luvassa ja voitte kuvitella, miten onnellinen olen siinä vaiheessa, kun tiloja päästään kuukausien kuluttua sisustamaan. Juuri tällä hetkellä kuitenkin jo purkutöiden teko tuntuu älyttömän hyvältä. Jokainen revitty tapettisuikale ja irrotettu laatta on askel lähemmäs valmista kotia. <3

(IT) Il nostro gruppo di blogger di arredamento finlandesi continua anche quest'anno con i post tematici mensili. La cara Giselda dal bellissimo blog Coffe Table Diary ci ha chiesto di raccontare in gennaio dei nostri sogni di arredo per l'anno 2018.

Il mio unico sogno è quello di poter arredare la nostra nuova casa. Sto già sognando che abbiamo finito con la ristrutturazione e abbiamo una nuova cucina funzionale con fornelli a gas, bagni con soluzioni armadi per tutti i barattoli di prodotti cosmetici e dovunque in casa intorno solo materiali che ci fanno vivere bene. Insomma sto sognando una casa con soluzioni scelte da noi.

La nostra nuova casa è una villetta a schiera di città, è quindi una casa tutta privata ma da un lato attaccata alla casa dei vicini e dall'alta a un garage. Abbiamo quindi vicini direttamente dietro il muro solo da un lato. La casa è costruita nel 1951 e l'ultima ristrutturazione risale agli anni '70, solo le finestre sono state cambiate di recente (ma sono molto più brutte delle originali...) Dovremo quindi rinnovare tutto quanto e la maggior parte del budget va solo ai lavori che porteranno la casa sul livello degli standard moderni.

Anche se il processo di acquisto non è ancora finito, il venditore ha svuotato la casa la scorsa settimana e ci ha dato il permesso di cominciare coi lavori. Il fine settimana abbiamo quindi strappato vecchi moquette e tolto strati di carta da parati. Nel soggiorno abbiamo trovato una sorpresa sotto la moquette: un vecchio parquet probabilmente in legno di noce con un bordo più scuro in wenge. Ora dovremo decidere se far restaurare quello e continuare con legno simile su tutto quel livello oppure continuare con il piano originale quindi istallare parquet più chiaro.

Ci vuole tempo per togliere la carta da parati nell'ingresso, sembra ci siano sei strati diversi. Ma è bellissimo arrivare fino alla superficie in muratura che potremo imbiancare. Sotto la moquette nelle scale abbiamo trovato legno come ci aspettavamo ma è ancora presto dire com'è esattamente la condizione. Il corridoio accanto alla scala dovrebbe diventare una parte della cucina quindi bisogna demolire il muro che è purtroppo portante. Ci vorranno quindi travi in acciaio come supporto.

In questo momento la casa consiste in tre camere da letto, soggiorno, cucina, bagno e wc separato su due livelli ma abbiamo intenzione di costruire una stanza mansarda con bagno e stanza armadio. Le figlie dormiranno al primo piano e noi in mansarda. In cantina ci sono altri spazi, tra l'altro un "party room" che vorremmo prendere in uso un po' diverso. Dal soggiorno si arriva su una piccola terrazza da cui c'è una scala nel giardino di dietro.

Vi farò vedere foto anche delle altre stanze quando riuscirò a fare delle foto durante le ore luminose. Ecco comunque il nostro progetto per quest'anno, potete immaginare quanto sarò felice nel momento in cui potremo arredare gli spazi pronti. In questo momento sono comunque contentissima a ristrutturare. Ogni stricia di carta da parati strappata o piastrella staccata è un passo vetro la casa pronta. <3 

(EN) Our Finnish interior blogger group continues also this year with monthly theme posts. Sweet Giselda from the beautiful blog Coffee Table Diary asked as to tell in January about our interior decoration dreams for the year 2018.

My only dream is to get to decorate this year our new home. I'm dreaming of beeing ready with the renovation and having a new, functional kitchen with a gas stove and bathrooms with storage solutions and to be surrounded by natural materials that it's a pleasure to live with. On the whole I'm dreaming of having finally a home with solutions we have chosen ourselves.

Our new home is a town house attached on one side to the neighbours' house and on the other to a garage building. So we'll actually only have neighbours directly behind one wall. The house has been built in 1951 and renovated somewhere in the 70's. Only the windows have been changed recently (to more ugly ones...) We'll have to renovate all the house from the heating to the wiring and plumbing and even change the roof. So most of the budjet will go just to bring the house to the modern standard level.

Even though the buying process still isn't completely finished, the sellers emptied the house last week and gave us the permission to start with the renovation. So we spent the weekend removing old wall-to-wall carpets and tearing down the wallpapers. We found a big surprise in the living room: there was an old parquet hiding under the carpet. It's probably walnut with a darker wenge border. Now we'll have to decide weather to restaure the old floor and continue with similar wood in all that level or to remain with the original plan and install a lighter parquet everywhere.

Removing the entry wallpaper is quite a slow process since there seem to be six layers of old wallpapers. But it's so nice to arrive to expose the underneath lying concrete surface we will paint. The stairs under the carpet are wooden as expected but it's still early to say in how good a condition they actually are. The corridor next to the stairs will become part of the kitchen but it's not an easy process since it's a structural wall with the staircase continuing above. We'll probably need some steel beams to support the structure.

At the moment the house consists in three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a separate wc on two levels but we're planning on building a loft bedroom with a bathroom and a walk-in closet. It will be our bedroom and our daughters will have their rooms one floor down. In the basement there are more spaces, for example a "party room" that we'll take in a different use. Outside the living room there's a small terrace with stairs leading to the garden.

I will show you pictures of the other spaces as well, as soon as I get to take pictures when there's still daylight, and I'll tell more about our renovation plans. Anyhow, this is our project for 2018 and you can imagine how happy I'll be when we'll get to furnish the rooms. But for the moment it just feels great to renovate. Every piece of wallpaper stripped off is a step towards a finished home. <3
