Joulua kotiin

(FI) Tämän postauksen piti valmistua eilen, mutta meilläpä lakkasivat puhelin ja internet toimimasta aikaisin iltapäivällä ja koko ilta vietettiin pakon edessä nettipaastoa. (Tai no kännykän mobiilidata kyllä toimi, mutta sitä pitää täällä vaalia kuin arvokkaita omaisuutta eikä tuhlaita kotioloissa.) Liekö syynä ollut lumipyry vai jokin muu, se ei meille selvinnut. Tänään joka tapauksessa kaikki taas toimii, joten bloggauskin onnistuu ja aloitetaan vihdoin joulufiilistelyt.

Joko teillä on kaivettu joulujutut esiin ja ryhdytty koristelemaan kotia? Meillä nuorempi tytär ehti valittaa parin viikon ajan, että meidän koti on ainoa, jossa ei ole vielä yhtään jouluvaloja. Sunnuntaina sain ikkunanpesun jälkeen perinteisen yksinkertaisen paperitähden ripustettua olohuoneen ikkunaan ja hain jokusen joulukoristeen kellarista. Muutama ikkuna pitää vielä pestä, niin saadaan loputkin tähdet ikkunaan. Ne ovatkin kaikki monisakaraisia Hernnhuterin tähtiä, jotka taitavat olla aika trendikkäitä tänä vuonna.

Ensimmäiset valkoiset amaryllikset ehtivät meillä jo lakastua maljakossa, mutta ruokasalissa olevat hyasintit ovat nyt juuri sopivasti nupussa. Täytyy vielä hakea ruukkuun mullan päälle pihalta sammalta, niin kosteus pysyy paremmin tasaisena. Ihan lemppareitani ovat edelleen nuo lehtikuusen oksat, jotka pakkasin viime joulun jälkeen laatikkoon ja otin nyt uudestaan esiin. Irronneilla kävyillä koristelin kalenterikynttilän aluslautasen. Itse kynttilä pääsi lauantaina palamaan vähän liikaa, joten sunnuntaina poltettavaksi jäi tavallista pienempi pätkä.

Vietämme tänä vuonna joulua täällä Saksassa ja tällä hetkellä jännitämme eniten sitä, ehdimmekö vielä ennen joulua notaarille tekemään viralliset asuntokaupat. Pitäkää peukkuja että se onnistuisi, olisihan oma uusi koti aika mahtava joululahja. Joka tapauksessa tämä tulee olemaan viimeinen tässä kodissa viettämämme joulu, ensi jouluna ollaan varmasti jo uudessa osoitteessa!

(IT) Dovevo finire questo post ieri ma dopo mezzogiorno il telefono e l'internet hanno smesso di funzionare e siamo stati offline tutta la sera. Non sappiamo se era causato dalla nevicata o altro ma in ogni caso oggi tutto funziona di nuovo senza problemi. Posso quindi pubblicare il post e iniziare finalmente con il tema natale.

Avete già tirato fuori gli addobbi di natale e cominciato a decorare la casa? La nostra secondogenita ha lamentato per un paio di settimane che la nostra casa era l'unica senza nessuna luce di natale. Domenica ho avuto tempo per lavare delle finestre quindi ho appeso una tradizionale stella in carta nel soggiorno. Ho anche preso qualche decorazione dalle scatole in cantina. Dovrò ancora lavare altre finestre per poter appendere il resto delle stelle che sono tutte di quelle di Hernnhuter. Sembra vadano molto di moda quest'anno.

I primi fiori di amarillide bianco sono già appassiti nel vaso ma i giacinti nella sala di pranzo sembrano aprirsi giusto per natale. Dovrò ancora prendere un po' di muschio dal giardino per comprire la terra, aiuta a tenere l'umidità costante. I miei preferiti sono sempre i rami di larice che ho impacchettato in una scatola dopo natale scorso e ora li ho rimessi in vaso. Ho usato i coni staccati per decorare il piatto su cui sta la candela calendario dell'avvento. Sabato abbiamo lasciato la candela accesa per un po' troppo quindi per domenica ce n'era rimasta meno del solito.

Quest'anno passeremo il natale qui in Germania e in questo momento stiamo aspettando con ansia se ce la facciamo a fare un appuntamento dal notaio prima delle feste per firmare il contratto d'acquisto della nuova casa. Incrociamo le dita, per noi sarebbe il regalo di natale più bello possibile. In ogni caso questo sarà l'ultimo natale che passeremo in questa casa!

(EN) I wanted to write this post yesterday but the phone and the internet stopped working early afternoon and we were forced to spend the whole evening offline. Maybe it was caused by all the snow, maybe something else, but this morning everything's working again. So I could finish this post and finally start with the Christmas theme.

Have you already taken out the Christmas decoration and started to adorn your home? Our younger daughter complained for a couple of weeks that our home was the only one without any X-mas lights. On Sunday I finally had time to wash some windows and hung a traditional simple paper star on the living room window. I also took some ornaments from the boxes in the basement. I still need to wash more windows so I can hang the rest of our star lights. The three remaining stars are all Hernnhuter stars that seem to be pretty trendy this year.

The first white amaryllises that we had in a vase have already withered but the hyacinths in the dining room look like they will open just in time for X-mas. I should get some moss from the garden to cover the soil, it helps to keep it moist. My favourites are still the larch branches that I packed into a box after last Christmas and took out again some days ago. I used some cones that had come off to decorate the plate under the calendar candle. On Saturday we burnt the candle a little too long so the Sunday part was a bit short.

This year we will spend Christmas here in Germany and at the moment we're really anxious to know wheather or not we'll get to sign the purchase contract for the new home before the holidays. Keep your fingers crossed, it would be the best possible X-mas gift for us. In any case this will be the last Christmas we'll spend in this house!

Viivy vielä hetki

(FI) Mukavan rauhallinen kotijoulu on takana ja kuopus lähti jo ystävänsä luo yökylään. Me muut sen sijaan menemme illalla elokuviin katsomaan Rogue Onea, alkuperäiskielistä versiota luonnollisesti. Toivottavasti ei tarvitse pettyä, Hesari ainakin kehui elokuvaa kovasti.

Näissä kuvissa on vielä jouluisia tunnelmia ja kattauskuvia ruokasalista. Piparkakkutalo pystytettiin nopeasti jouluaattona ja sen koristelusta vastasi esikoinen. Tein talon palat ilman kaavaa, pelkästään viivotinta apuna käyttäen, mutta ihan hyvin sopivat osat yhteen. Ruokapöydälle löysin kauniin tähtiteemaisen ruusukimpun ihan ruokakaupasta, ja piti huoneeseen saada myös pari punaista marjaoksaa.

Monet tuntuvat suunnittelevan jo joulukoristeiden pois keräämistä, mutta meillä nautitaan ainakin uuteenvuoteen jollei ihan loppiaiseen saakka vielä ihan rauhassa joulutunnelmasta. Juuri ihailin kaupungilla kierrellessä, miten kauniilta talot näyttivät ovikransseineen, jouluvaloineen ja kynttilöineen. Ihan vielä ei tarvitse olla kevättä rinnassa, eihän?

(IT) Abbiamo passato un Natale molto bello e rilassato in famiglia. Ora la secondogenita è già andata a dormire dalla sua amica e noi altri andremo stasera al cinema a vedere Rogue One, naturalmente in lingua originale. Spero che non sarà una delusione, ho letto delle recensioni molto positive.

In queste foto si vede ancora la sala da pranzo com'era a Natale. Abbiamo deciso all'ultimo momento di fare una casa di pan di zenzero. Ho tagliato i pezzi senza alcun modello usando solo un righello per avere le misure adatte e per fortuna non ho avuto grandi problemi nel montare la casa. Per il tavolo ho trovato un mazzo di rose bianche molto bello al supermercato e naturalmente ci volevano anche un paio di rami con bacche rosse. 

Tante persone sembrano voler già togliere tutte le decorazioni ma noi godremo l'atmosfera di natale almeno fino a Capodanno oppure fino alla Befana. Ho appena fatto un giro in città e quanto erano belle le case con le ghirlande sulle porte, luci di natale e candele accese! Non c'è fretta di trovare lo spirito di primavera, vero? 

(EN) So we spent a very nice and peaceful Christmas at home. Now our younger daughter has already gone to a sleepover at her friend's house. The rest of the family will go to the cinema to see Rogue One, original version of course. I hope we won't be disappointed, I have read some really good reviews.

In these pictures there's our dining room and the table setting during Christmas. We quickly made a gingerbread house at the last moment. I didn't have a model for the house so I cut the pieces using just a ruler to get the sizes right. Luckily the pieces fit quite well together. I found the beautiful rose bouquet at the supermarket, and a couple of branches with red berries were also needed for the decor.

Lots of people seem to plan to take down all the Christmas decorations but we'll enjoy the Christmas atmosphere at least until New Year or even until Epiphany. I just roamed the streets of the city and admired the beautiful houses decorated with door wreaths, fairy lights and candles. There's no hurry to get in the spring vibe, is there?

Kaksi yötä jouluun

(FI) Joko teillä on koti koristeltu jouluun? Lapsuudenkodissani koristeet kaivettiin esiin pääasiassa vasta aattoaamuna. Meillä on kuitenkin koristeita lisäilty vähän kerrallaan koko joulukuun ajan ja lempikoristeet taitavat olla jo lähes kaikki jossakin esillä. Kuusikin meillä on jo olohuoneessa juhla-asussaan, joten lauantaina voimme keskittyä ruoanlaittoon, syömiseen ja juomiseen sekä tietysti rentoutumiseen. Huomenna pitää tosin vielä pyöräyttää yksi satsi pipareita (ensimmäinen erä on jo syöty...) ja käydä ruokaostoksilla hankkimassa tarvittavia aineksia. Mukavaa iltaa, me tällä jatketaan lahjojen paketointia!

(IT) Avete già decorato la casa per natale? Nella mia casa d'infanzia si tiravano fuori le decorazioni solo la mattina della vigilia di natale. Noi invece abbiamo aggiunto decorazioni piano piano tutto il mese e le cose più care sono praticamente tutte già esposte. Abbiamo pure decorato l'albero quindi sabato possiamo solo cucinare, mangiare e bere e rilassarci. Domani però dovremo ancora preparare una porzione di pan di zenzero (i primi sono già stati mangiati...) e fare la spesa alimentare per avere tutti gli ingredienti necessari. Buona serata, noi continuamo a impacchettare regali!

(EN) Have you already decorated your home for Christmas? In my childhood home the decorations were taken out only on Christmas Eve morning. We instead have added decoration little by little during this month and the most important things are almost all already on display. Also the Christmas tree is already ready in the living room so on Saturday we can just concentrate on cooking, eating and drinking and relaxing. However, tomorrow we still need to go bake a batch of gingerbread (the first one has already been eaten...) grocery shopping so that we have all the necessary ingredients. Have a nice evening, we'll continue wrapping the gifts!

Toinen kierros

(FI) Täällä on jo toinen valkoinen amarylliksen sipuli puskemassa nuppuja kohti kattoa, sillä ensimmäinen oli jo lopettelemassa kukintaa. Siirsin viimeisen kukkavarren parin eukalyptuksen oksan kanssa maljakkoon, mutta pitkäaikaista iloa siitä ei enää ole. Nyt jännätään, ehtivätkö nuo uudet kukat aueta jouluksi. Mukavaa jouluviikkoa (päivän ikävistä uutisista huolimatta :( )!

(IT) A casa nostra tocca già al secondo bulbo di amaryllis di fare fiori, visto che il primo stava già finendo la fioritura. Ho messo l'ultimo stelo fiorale in un vaso con un paio di rametti di eucalipto ma ormai non sarà bello per tanto tempo. Speriamo che i nuovi fiori ce la faranno ad aprirsi per natale. Buona settimana di natale (nonostante tutte le brutte notizie :( )!

(EN) We have already a second amaryllis bulb pushing out its flower buds since the first one had almost finished its bloom. I put the last flower stem in a vase with a couple of eucalyptus branches but it won't be pretty for very long anymore. I just wish the new flowers will open in time for X-mas Eve. Have a great Christmas week (in spite of all the sad news :( )!

Talvinen olohuone

(FI) Vaihdoin olohuoneeseen loppuviikosta meidän talvimaton, eli musta-beige-kuvioidun villamaton. Kuvissa matto näyttää jostain syystä aina paljon vaaleammalta kuin on, sillä oikeasti yleisvaikutelma on varsin tumma. Sohvan yläpuolella ollut vihreäsävyinen kukkataulu näytti kokonaisuudessa ihan hassulta, eikä kotoa löytynyt oikein muutakaan sopivaa taulua, joten maalasin sellaisin sitten itse. Maalasin taustan ensin hieman sävytetyllä valkoisella akryylivärillä ja kuusta varten sekoitin mustaa ja sinistä. Vähän puussa olisi vielä korjailtavia kohtia, mutta jollei katso liian kriittisesti, niin ihan kivalta näyttää. Taulu tuo huoneeseen hieman joulufiilistä, muttei liian alleviivatusti, ja muu perhekin kuulemma tykkää :)

(IT) Durante il fine settimana ho messo in soggiorno il nostro tappeto invernale, cioè un tappeto in lana con un motivo classico in nero e beige. Nelle foto sembra sempre più chiaro di quello che è in realtà. Il quadro verde chiaro coi fiori che stava sopra il divano non ci stava più per nulla e visto che non avevamo neanche altri quadri che ci stessero meglio ne ho dipinto uno nuovo. Il fondo l'ho fatto quasi bianco e l'abete è dipinto con colore nero misto con blu. Ci sono un po' di dettagli che potrei migliorare ma se non si guarda con occhio troppo critico mi sembra ci stia bene. Porta un po' di atmosfera di natale ma non in modo troppo sottolineato e piace anche agli altri membri della nostra famiglia. :)

(EN) During the weekend I put our winter carpet in the living room. It's a wool carpet with a classic pattern in black and beige. For some reason it looks quite light in pictures while it's actually quite dark in real life. The light green painting with flowers hanging above the sofa didn't fit in at all and since we didn't have other good options either, I painted a new one. The background is almost white and the spruce is painted with black paint mixed with some blue. There are some parts that could be fixed a bit but if you don't look at the painting with a critical eye I think it looks good enough. It gives the room a bit X-mas feel but not in too obvious a way, and also the other members of our family seem to appreciate it. :)

(FI) Huh, onpa ollut vauhdikas päivä! Kohta työnnetään pizzat uuniin paistumaan ja päästään vihdoin viettämään rentoa viikonloppua. Huomenna on ohjelmassa joulucocktailit ystävien uudessa kodissa, mikä merkitsee, että saa vaihteeksi pukea pikkumustan ylle ja laittautua oikein kunnolla. Aika kivaa! Viikonloppuna voisi hakea jo joulukuusenkin, sillä myyjät ovat viikolla ilmestyneet meidän nurkille. Joulukukkia meillä on jo ihan kiitettävästi, sillä löysin Ikeasta edullisia hyasintteja ja kukkakaupasta ihanan puhtaan valkoisen joulutähden. Ruokakaupassa sen sijaan oli perinteisiä punaisia joulutähtiä kunnon kimallekerroksella kuorrutettuna... Tunnelmallista viikonloppua!

(IT) Che giornata di corsa! Tra poco mettiamo le pizze in forno e comincerà il fine settimana rilassato. Domani nel programma c'è il coctail natalizio nella nuova casa dei nostri amici il che vuol dire che ci possiamo vestire proprio da festa. Che bello! Durante il fine settimana potremmo andare a comprare l'albero di natale, visto che i venditori sono arrivati nel nostro quartiere. Fiori natalizi ne abbiamo già una bella selezione in casa. Ho trovato giacinti economici da Ikea e dal fioraio una stella di natale bella e bianca. Al supermercato invece vendevano quelle rosse tradizionali ma ricoperte di uno strato di glitter... Buon fine settimana!

(EN) What a busy day I had! In a moment we'll put the pizzas in the oven and a relaxing weekend can start. Tomorrow we're invited for cocktails in our friends' new home so we can really dress up for party. How nice for a change! During the weekend we could also go and buy a Christmas tree since the sellers have arrived to our hoods. We already have a nice selection of Christmas flowers at home. I found cheap hyacinths at Ikea and the florist had beautiful pure white Christmas starts. At the supermarket  I saw traditional red ones but covered with loads of glitter... Have a great weekend!

(FI) Hei taas! Kerroin jo aiemmin, että meidän tytöt hankkivat tänä vuonna toistensa joulukalentereihin tulevat pikku yllätykset. Esikoisen kalenteri muodostuu perinteisistä paperipusseista, joiden päällä on liitutaulutarraan kirjoitetut numerot, mutta kuopuksella on tänä vuonna ihan uudenlainen kalenteri. Balmuirin tyynyliinojen pakkauspussi on ovenkahvaan ripustettuna juuri sopivan kokoinen joulukalenteripussukka, johon "tonttu" sujauttaa iltaisin pienen yllätyksen. Yllätys voi olla esimerkiksi hiuslenkkejä tai pinnejä, pieni herkku tai uusi kynsilakka. Tyynyliinat taas löytyvät meidän makuuhuoneestamme, missä petaus koostuu tuttuun tapaan eri valmistajien eri sävyisistä pellavista. Muurrettujen sävyjen yhdistelmä on minusta todella rauhoittava.

(IT) Ciao! Ho già menzionato qui che quest'anno le nostre figlie si occupano delle piccole sorprese che la sorella trova nel suo calendario dell'avvento. Il calendario della primogenita consiste in tradizionali sacchetti di carta con i numeri dei giorni scritti sulle etichette lavagna. La secondogenita invece ha un calendario tutto nuovo quest'anno.  Il sacchetto in lino in cui si vendono le federe del marchio finlandese Balmuir, infilato nella maniglia della porta, è perfetto per le piccole sorprese che "l'aiutate di Babbo Natale" ci infila ogni sera. La sorpresa può essere per esempio un elastico per i capelli, un dolcetto oppure uno smalto per unghie nuovo. Le federe si trovano nella nostra camera da letto. Come al solito, ho fatto il letto usando biancheria letto in lino di vari produttori e tutti in vari colori. L'effetto mi sembra molto calmante.

(EN) Hello again! I already mentioned here that our girls are taking care of their Advent Calendar surprises. Our older daughter's calendar is made of traditional paper bags with the number of the day written on a chalkboard sticker. Our younger daughter instead has a new kind of calendar this year. The small linen bag in which the Finnish Balmuir pillowcases are sold is perfect for the small surprises that the "Christmas elf" puts in every evening. The surprise can be for instance a hair band, something sweet or a new nail varnish. The pillowcases are used in our bedroom wherem as usual, I have made the bed using linen sheets by various labels in different colours. I find this kind of a colour combination really calming.

(FI) Tänään meillä oli ohjelmassa perinteiset suomalaiset joulumyyjäiset, joissa olin kuopuksen kanssa myymässä askarteluja ja leivonnaisia Suomi-koulumme hyväksi. Ihan kivasti kertyikin rahaa kassaan, joten keväällä voidaan järjestää mukava retkipäivä. Lisäksi tuli täydennettyä oman kodin karjalanpiirakkavarastoja niin valmispiirakoilla kuin kotitekoisillakin. Ne ovat ehkä se suomalainen ruoka, jota meidän perhe täällä eniten kaipaisi kaupan valikoimaan. Kuvan jouluvaloille oli tarkoitus käydä ostamassa jatkojohto, mutta myyjäisväsymyksen vallassa asia unohtui kokonaan, joten ennen maanantaita ei valoja saada viritettyä toimimaan. Bremenin joulumarkkinat ovat vielä käymättä, vaikka ne ovat jo täydessä vauhdissa. Ehkä huomenna ehtisi piipahtaa jo sielläkin. Joko te olette ehtineet käydä joulumyyjäisissä tai -markkinoilla?

(IT) Oggi c'era il tradizionale mercatino di natale finlandese dove ho venduto lavoretti e dolci fatti a casa per raccogliere soldi per la nostra scuola di finlandese. Le vendite sono andate abbastanza bene e potremo fare una bella gita in primavera. Naturalmente abbiamo anche comprato un po' di cibo finlandese da portare a casa. Volevo anche passare a comprare una prolunga per poter accendere le luci di natale nelle foto ma a fine giornata ero così stanca che l'ho domenticato. Domani in negozi sono chiusi quindi a questo punto si parla di lunedì. Il mercato natalizio di Brema non l'ho ancora visitata anche se è iniziata da un bel po'. Chissá se domani ci sarà tempo per fare un salto? Avete già visitato qualche mercatino di natale?

(EN) Today there was the traditional Finnish Christmas market and I was selling some decorations and home baked things in order to collect some money for our Finnish school. The sales were quite good and we'll be able to do a nice field trip in the spring. And of course we also bought some Finnish food to bring home. I also wanted to go to buy an extension cable for the Christmas lights in the pictures but after the market day I was so tired that I completely forgot it. Tomorrow the shops are closed so it will have to wait till Monday. I still haven't visited the Bremen Christmas Market even though it's been open for a while already. Maybe tomorrow we'll have a chance to go there? Have you already visited some Christmas market or fair?

Jatta Lavi / Tea light holders

(FI) Pienen sisustusbloggaajaporukkamme marraskuun teemana on kirje joulupukille. Teeman valitsi tällä kertaa modernin kodikkaasti sisustava Kerttu, kiitos kivasta postausaiheesta!

Me kiltit bloggaajat saamme toivoa joulupukilta kotimaisia lahjoja neljässä eri hintaluokassa. Itse päätin jättää tällä kertaa väliin Iittalat ja Marimekot ja tehdä valintoja, jotka työllistävät nimenomaan suomalaisia tekijöitä ja suunnittelijoita vähän pienemmissä yrityksissä. Tässä siis näitä toiveita (ja samalla lahjavinkkejä):

20 €: Kaunis käsin tehty keramiikka ilahduttaa aina, olipa kyse käyttöastioista tai koristekäyttöön tarkoitetuista tuotteista. Kahvikin maistuu paremmalta, kun sen nauttii jonkun rakkaudella omin kätösin tekemästä kupista. Yläkuvan Jatta Lavin ohutta posliinia olevat tuikkukupit ovat herkän kauniita myös silloin, kun niissä ei polta kynttilää, ja mikä estää käyttämästä niitä myös pikkutavaran säilytykseen tai sokeriastiana.

100 €: Suomessa valmistetaan upeita laadukkaita ja ajattomia sisustustekstiilejä. 1kertaa2:n tyynynpäälliset ovat merinovillaneulosta ja Bondenin tyynyt huovutettua villaa. Yksinkertaisiin kuoseihin ei kyllästy ja materiaalit kestävät käyttöä vuodesta toiseen. Jos lisätään budjettiin toinen satanen, pukki voisi tuoda minulle myös tuon Bondenin uutuuden, kolmen huopakorin setin (199 €). Joulun jälkeen joskus tammikuussakin riittää hyvin, jolleivät uutuustuotteet ehdi vielä jouluksi myyntiin. (Pukki löytää Bonden-tuotteita esimerkiksi Herttaselta.) Kosteutta ja likaa hylkivä, vesipesun kestävä villahuopa on helppo ja kaunis materiaali, ja piilotan mielelläni erilaisia tavaroita kauniisiin koreihin.

500 €: Olisi ihanaa löytää lahjapaketista uutta suomalaista taidelasia! Katsokaa nyt vaikka, miten vastustamattoman kaunis on Samuji Koti -malliston suupuhallettu Drop-maljakko, jonka on suunnitellut Pasi Kärkkäinen-Tunkelo. 350 euron hinta jättäisi vielä vähän ylimääräistäkin pukin taskuun. Varsinkin kuvan sininen versio on ihan mieletön, vaikka kaunis maljakko on myös kirkkaana. Kukkia en kyllä taitaisi noin upeaan maljakkoon uskaltaa laittaa... ;)

1 000 €: Kiltti joulupukki, meillä ei ole oikeastaan tilaa uusille huonekaluille, mutta seinille mahtuisi vielä joku näyttävä taideteos. Ja jos tyhjää seinäpintaa tuntuu olevan turhan niukasti, esillä olevia taulujahan voi vaihdella samoin kuin sohvatyynyjä. Voisitko siis tuoda minulle paketissa Helsingissä sijaitsevan Taidelainaamon lahjakortin, niin käyn itse valitsemassa laajasta valikoimasta työn, joka puhuttelee ja tuottaa joka kerta katsoessa iloa. Otan taulun ensin varmuuden vuoksi kuukaudeksi vain lainaan, jotta voin sovittaa sitä rauhassa kotona. Maksan loppusumman vasta, kun olen varma oikeasta valinnasta. Ihan kauhean kätevää, että voi muuttaa mieltään, jos siltä tuntuu.

Jos saan vielä esittää yhden lisävaihtoehdon, niin hyvä romaani on jouluna aina tervetullut. Onnistuisiko vaikka uusi Finlandia-voittaja tai jokin muu palkittu teos?

(IT) Il tema di novembre del nostro piccolo gruppo di blogger di arredamento finlandesi è "una lettera a Babbo Natale". Questa volta il tema è stato scelto da Kerttu che scrive il blog Modernisti kodikas. Grazie per l'idea simpatica!

Noi blogger che siamo naturalmente state tutte bravissime potevamo esprimere un desiderio in quattro categorie prezzo. Io ho deciso di concentrarmi su prodotti che sono fatti completamente in Finlandia da aziende piccole invece di scegliere Iittala, Marimekko o simili. Ecco quindi i miei desideri (e idee regalo):

20 €: La ceramica fatta a mano fa sempre piacere, sia se si tratta di stoviglie per uso quotidiano sia se sono oggetti più decorativi. Anche il caffè è più buono se lo bevi da una tazza fatta con tanto amore e cura da un artigiano. I portalumini di Jatta Lavi nella foto di sopra sono fatti in porcellana sottilissima e sono belli anche senza la candela. Naturalmente si possono anche usare per esempio come zuccheriera o per conservarci cose piccole.

100 €: In Finlandia si producono prodotti tessili per l'arredo di alta qualità e di design sempre attuale. I copricuscini di 1kertaa2 sono in maglia di lana merino e i cuscini di Bonden sono in feltro di  lana. I motivi semplici vanno sempre e i materiali sono resistenti nell'uso quotidiano Se possiamo aggiungere altri 100 euro, Babbo Natale mi potrebbe portare anche un set di tre cestini in feltro di lana (199 €), sempre di Bonden. Va benissimo anche dopo natale se non arrivano in vendita in tempo per la vigilia. Il feltro è un materiale resistente all'acqua e lavabile e mi piace nascondere oggetti vari in bei cestini.

500 €: Sarebbe bellissimo trovare nel pacco regalo nuovo vetro finlandese! Guardate che bellezza il vaso Drop della collezione Samuji Koti, design Pasi Kärkkäinen-Tunkelo. Con il prezzo di 350 euro a Babbo Natale rimarrebbero pure un po' di soldi. Specialmente quello blu nella foto è irresistibile ma bella anche quello trasparente. Non so se però avrei il coraggio di metterci fiori... ;)

1 000 €: Caro Babbo Natale, non abbiamo spazio per nuovi mobili ma potremmo appendere alla parete qualche quadro. Se lo spazio vuoto sembra troppo poco possiamo sempre altrernare i quadri appesi come si fa con i cuscini sul divano. Potresti portarmi un buono regalo della biblioteca dell'arte a Helsinki, Taidelainaamo, così mi scelgo dalla loro ampia collezione un quadro che mi fa piacere vedere tutti i giorni. Prima di comprare il quadro lo prenderei in prestito per un mese per essere sicura che ho fatto la scelta giusta. È proprio pratico che si può cambiare idea se serve, no?

Se posso aggiungere un'altra idea regalo, a natale ci vuole sempre qualche bel romanzo. Non é che potresti trovarmi il vincitore di qualche premio letterario?

Bonden / Wool felt cushions

(EN) Our small Finnish interior blogger group's November theme is a letter to Santa. This time the theme was chosen by Kerttu from the blog Modernisti kodikas, thank you for the lovely idea!

All of us bloggers have been behaving really good this year so we get to make four wishes in different price groups. I chose to concentrate on products that are made and designed in Finland by small companies instead of choosing Marimekko or Iittala. So here are my wishes and gift ideas:

20 €: Beautiful, hand-made pottery is always nice to have, it doesn't matter if it's dishes for everyday use or for objects for decoration purposes. Even the coffee tastes better if you drink it from a cup made with love and care by an artisan. Jatta Lavi's tea light holders that you can see in the first picture are made of really thin porcelain. They're beautiful also without a candle and you can also use them for storing small things or as a sugar bowl.

100 €: In Finland we produce classic and high quality home textiles. The 1kertaa2 cushion covers are made of merino wall knit and the Bonden cushions are made of wool felt. Simple patterns never go out of fashion and the materials resist everyday use for years. If we can add another hundred euros to the budget, Santa could bring me also the new felt storage box set by Bonden (199 €). It's quite fine to bring the also after X-mas if they won't make it to the stores in time. Wool felt is a wonderful water-resistant and washable material and I always hide all kinds of stuff inside beautiful boxes

500 €: I would love to get some new Finnish design glass for Christmas. Just look how beautiful is Pasi Kärkkäinen-Tunkelo's Drop vase that's part of the Samuji Koti home collection! I find especially the blue one in the picture irresistable but the vase is wonderful also in clear glass. I don't think I could actually put flowers in such a precious vase, though...

1 000 €: Dear Santa, we don't really have any space for new furniture but I could hang some stunning painting on the wall. And if it looks like there's not so many empty walls left, I can always change the pictures that are exposed like you do with the sofa cushions. Could you please bring me a gift card for the art librery in Helsinki, Taidelainaamo. They have an extensive collection and I can choose a painting that will bring me pleasure every time I see it. Just to make sure, I will first borrow the painting for a month. If it's the right one, I will then pay the rest of it. It's pretty practical to be able to change your mind if necessary, don't you think?

If I'm allowed to add one more idea to the list, I really appreciate getting a nice new book for Christmas. Could you maybe find me some prize-winning novel?

Joulufiilistä

(FI) Hyvää ensimmäisen adventtisunnuntain iltaa! Joko teillä on joulufiilis huipussaan vain onko se vielä haussa? Nyt olisi tarjolla pari oivaa keinoa, joilla oikea vire taatusti alkaa löytyä.

Ensimmäinen vinkki on tietysti piparien leipominen. Kun vielä vääntää joulumusiikin päälle antamaan taustalla tahtia, viimeistään juuri paistetun piparin tuoksun levitessä keittiöön alkavat joulun parhaat puolet muistua mieleen.

Toinen vinkki on Riikka Kantinkosken ja Virpi Mikkosen mielettömän upea Joulukirja. Reseptejä emme ole vielä ehtineet kokeilla, mutta kauniit talviset tunnelmakuvat saavat ulkona rapisevat vesipisarat unohtumaan tehokkaasti.

Kohta onkin jo aika avata joulukalenterin ensimmäinen luukku. Meillä tytöt ovat hankkineet pieniä yllätyksiä toisilleen, joten äiti pääsee siinä hommassa vähällä. Mukavaa joulutunnelmointia!

(IT) Buona serata della prima domenica d'Avvento! Siete già entusiasti del natale in arrivo o state ancora cercando lo spirito giusto? Ecco un paio di consigli che funzionano di sicuro.

Il primo consiglio è di fare pan di zenzero. Se metti ancora musica natalizia in sottofondo, al massimo nel momento che il profumo di biscotti appena sfornati si diffonde in cucina comincerai a ricordare i lati più belli del periodo natalizio.

Il secondo consiglio è di procurarsi il bellissimo libro Joulukirja di Riikka Kantinkoski e Virpi Mikkonen. Non abbiamo ancora provato le ricette ma le fantastiche foto invernali fanno dimenticare la pioggia che cade giù fuori dalla finestra.

Presto sarà già ora di aprire il primo sportello del calendario dell'avvento. Le mie figlie si sono comprate delle piccole sorprese per la sorella quindi io non ho dovuto pensarci più di tanto. Godetevi il periodo natalizio!

(EN) Happy first Sunday of Advent evening! Are you already excited about Christmas or are you still looking for the right mood? I have a couple of tips that will help you:

The first tip is to bake gingerbread. If you also play Christmas music on the background, when the smell of freshly baked gingerbread spreads in the kitchen you can't help remembering why the X-mas time is so special.

The second tip is the wonderful book Joulukirja by Riikka Kantinkoski and Virpi Mikkonen. We still haven't tried any of the recipes but the lovely winter pictures make you forget the rain pouring outside.

Soon it will be time to open the first door of the Christmas calendar. Our girls have bought each other little presents so one thing less for me to do this year. Enjoy the X-mas time!

23.12. Joulun viettoon

(FI) Jouluvalmistelut ovat täällä ihan vaiheessa, mutta joulu näyttää tulevan siitä huolimatta. (Muistutus itselle ensi vuodeksi, ettei kannata sairastua juuri joulun alla, sillä sohvalla makaamalla eivät lahjat tule paketoitua ja joulupullat leivottua.) Blogi hiljenee nyt juhlapyhien ajaksi, joten toivotan kaikille oikein ihanaa ja rentouttavaa joulun aikaa!

(IT) I preparativi di natale non sono per nulla fatti ma il natale sembra arrivi lo stesso. (Meglio ricordare l'anno prossimo di non ammalarsi proprio sotto natale perché i regali non vengono impacchettati e i dolci preparati se si sta solo sdraiati sul divano.) Il blog va ora in modalità feste quindi auguro a tutti voi un natale sereno e rilassante!

(EN) The Christmas preparations aren't even nearly ready yet here but it looks like Christmas arrives anyway. (Note to self: don't get sick just before Christmas next year. The gifts don't get wrapped and Christmas goodies baked if you just sleep on the sofa.) I'm taking a small break from blogging now so I wish you all a wonderful and relaxing Christmas time!

15.12. Olkitähti

(FI) Täällä ollaan taas viikonlopun opiskelukiireiden jälkeen, mutta nytkin kirjoitan vain pikaisesti pari sanaa ennen kuin suuntaan huomisaamuna pariksi päiväksi Tanskan Aarhusiin. Kuvissa on kuopuksen koulun joulutapahtumasta löytynyt kaunis käsin tehty olkitähti. Kevyttä tähteä ei kyllä ollut kovin helppo ikuistaa, sillä sehän pyöri jatkuvasti ilmavirran mukana suuntaan ja toiseen. Yhä enemmän muuten näyttää siltä, että punaiset joulukoristeet saavat jäädä tänä jouluna laatikkoon. Katsotaan, miten käy, kun saadaan kotiin kuusi koristeltavaksi. Siinä vaiheessa saattaa kuulua protestiääniä ;)

(IT) Eccomi di nuovo dopo un alcuni giorni intensivi di studio ma solo per scrivervi due parole prima che parto domani per Aarhus in Danimarca. Nelle foto c'è una stella di paglia molto bella fatta a mano che abbiamo trovato nel mercatino natalizio organizzato alla scuola della secondogenita. Non era molto facile farci una foto peró perché continuava a girare e girare. A proposito, sono sempre più convinta che quest'anno le decorazioni rosse rimarranno nelle scatole. Vedremo cosa succede quando portiamo l'albero in casa e cominciamo a decorarlo. Qualcuno potrebbe cominciare a protestare ;)

(EN) I'm back after a weekend that I had to spend studying and also now I'm just writing a couple of words before I leave for Aarhus, Denmark tomorrow morning. In these pictures there's a beautiful handmade straw star we found at the Christmas market organized in my younger daughter's school. It wasn't very easy to take pictures of the light star because it continued to turn around and around. By the way, I'm ever more convinced that all the red Christmas stuff can remain in the boxes this year. Let's see what will happen when we carry in the Christmas tree and start decorating it. Someone might start protesting ;)

10.12. Kierrätys kunniaan

(FI) Näin joulun alla kannattaa kirpputoreja kierrellessä katsella erityisesti tarjolla olevia kynttilänjalkoja ja tuikkukippoja. Moni omista suosikeistani on sieltä peräisin, esimerkiksi ylemmän kuvan ruotsalainen Malm-kynttilänjalka ja alemman kuvan Orreforsin Raspberry sekä mustaa marmoria oleva pieni tuikkukuppi. Tuoksukynttilän tyhjentyneestä lasipurkista puolestaan saa juuri sopivan purkin hyasintille. Minusta on mukavaa, että sen juuret näkyvät  kauniisti lasin läpi. Kukkakaupassa oli kyllä myynnissä vahalla käsiteltyjä kukkasipuleita (googlatkaapas "wax amaryllis") joita ei tarvitse kukinnan aikana kastella, mutta minusta ne olivat kaamean ruman ja keinotekoisen näköisiä. Makunsa kullakin...

(IT) Prima di natale conviene guardare al mercatino delle pulci se ci sono candelabri o portalumini belli in vendita. Alcuni dei miei preferiti li ho trovati lì, per esempio il candelabro svedese Malm nella prima foto e Raspberry di Orrefors e il portalumino piccolo in marmo nero nella seconda foto. Il contenitore di vetro di una candela profumata invece diventa un perfetto vaso per giacinti. Mi piace il fatto che si vedono le radici attraverso il vetro. Dal fioraio ho visto anche bulbi coperti con cera (cercate "wax amaryllis" su Google) che non si devono annaffiare durante la fioritura ma mi sembravano davvero finti e brutti. I gusti son gusti...

(EN) Before Christmas it's a good idea to look for nice candlesticks and tea light holders at the flea market. I have found some of my favourites there, for example the Swedish Malm candlestick in the first picture and the Orrefors Raspberry and black marble tea light holders in the second picture. An empty glass jar of a scented candle instead is a perfect vase for a hyacinth. I love the fact that you can see the roots through the glass. At the florist's I just saw some wax covered bulbs (search "wax amaryllis" on Google) but I found the really ugly and artificial. Well, each to his own taste...
