Olohuoneessa nyt

(FI) Blogissa on ollut taas vähän aikaa hiljaista, kuten ehkä olette huomanneet. Instagramia seuraavat tietävätkin jo sen johtuvan syyslomareissusta aurinkoiseen ja lämpimään Sisiliaan. Nyt olemme olleet pari päivää kotona ja olen ehtinyt pyykinpesun lomassa jo vähän sisustamaankin. Vaihdoin olohuoneen sohvalle tummanharmaat neulosta olevat tyynynpäälliset ja toin huoneeseen pari pehmeää torkkupeittoa. Sohvapöydälle hain aamulla kukkakaupata hortensian oksan, jonka toivon kuivuvan kauniisti. Jos olisi ollut sakset mukana, olisin kyllä voinut pihistää samanlaisen oksan ilmaiseksi yhden naapuritalon pihalta. Ehkä on ihan hyvä, ettei ollut :) Sohvapöydällä on myös tämänhetkinen lempisisustuskirjani, Hilary Robertsonin ja Pia Ulinin Monocrome Home, jonka oppeja en ole tainnut näiden kuvien perusteella ihan sisäistää. Bertoian Side chairin istuintyyny on sentään vaihtunut valkoiseksi entisen siniharmaan sijaan, ja täytyy sanoa, että se sopii nykyään paljon paremmin kokonaisuuteen. Hyvää pyhäinpäiväviikonloppua!

(IT) Il blog non è stato aggiornato per un po' come avere forse notato. Quelli che mi seguono su Instagram sanno già che abbiamo fatto un viaggio in Sicilia durante le vacanze autunnali. Ora siamo stati già un paio di giorni a casa e sono riuscita anche a fare qualche piccolo cambiamento all'arredamento oltre a fare il bucato. Ho messo sul divano i copricuscini in lana grigio scuro e ho portato nella stanza un paio di coperte morbide. Stamattina sono stata dal fioraio e ho comprato un ramo di ortensia da mettere sul tavolino che cercherò di far seccare. Se avessi avuto un paio di forbici con me, avrei potuto rubare un ramo uguale anche dal giardino di un vicino ma forse è meglio così. :) Sul tavolino c'è anche il mio libro di arredamento preferito di questo momento, Monocrome Home di Hilary Robertson e Pia Ulin. Ora però, guardando queste foto, sembra che non ho ancora imparato la lezione del libro. Almeno il cuscino della Side chair di Bertoia è ora bianca e non più celeste/grigio. Devo dire che sta molto meglio con il resto d'arredamento. Buon fine settimana di Ognissanti!

(EN) I haven taken a small break from blogging again as you may have noticed. Those who follow my Instagram already know that we did a one week holiday trip to warm and sunny Sicily. Now we have been back home for a couple of days and, beside doing the laundry, I have already done some small changes to the living room interior. I replaced two linen cushion covers with dark gray wool covers and added a couple of soft throw blankets. This morning I went to the florist's and bought for the coffee table a big hydrangea  flower that I will try to dry. If I had a pair of scissors with me I could have stolen a similar branch from a neighbor's garden but it's probably better this way. :) On the coffee table there's also my new favourite interior book, Monocrome Home by Hilary Robertson and Pia Ulin. When I look at these pictures, it seems to me that I haven't quite learned my lesson yet, though. At least the Bertoia side chair seat pad is now white instead of the old pale blue / gray one. I have to say that it looks much better with the rest of the furniture. Have a nice Halloween weekend!

Deka Studio Fiskarsissa

(FI) Kesälomalla Fiskarsissa käydessämme törmäsin uuteen designyritykseen, Deka Designiin, jolla oli Deka Studio -kesäkauppa Toriliiterissä. Deka Design on Lasse ja Helena Kinnusen Australian Brisbanessa perustama perheyritys. Tuotteet olivat nyt toista kesää esillä Fiskarsissa, missä Kinnuset viettävät kesiä. Kaunista puusepäntyötä, kiinnostavia materiaaleja, selkeitä linjoja... Voitte arvta, että oli ihan myyty. Esimerkiksi nuo nahkaiset lampunvarjostimet olivat todella kauniita, eivätkä Fiskars-tyynytkään olleet hullumpia. Itselle lähti mukaan käsin tehty nahkainen rannekoru, jota tulikin käytettyä ahkerasti koko loppukesä. Piipahtiko kukaan muu katsomassa tätä kesäkauppaa?

(IT) Durante le vacanze estive in Finlandia abbiamo visitato la cittadina Fiskars dove l'azienda di design Deka Design aveva aperto un piccolo negozio estivo chiamato Deka Studio. L'impresa familiare Deka Design è stata fondata da Lasse e Helena Kinnunen a Brisbane, Australia. Ora i loro prodotti erano esposti per la seconda volta a Fiskars dove la coppia passa l'estate. Bei mobili di legno, materiali interessanti, linee semplici... Potete capire che i prodotti mi sono piaciuti proprio tanto. Per esempio i paralumi in pelle erano molto belli e non erano male neanche i cuscini con sopra foto fatte a Fiskars. Io mi sono comprata un braccialetto in pelle che ho poi usato tantissimo tutta l'estate. Qualcun'altro ha visitato questo negozio?

(EN) During the summer holiday in Finland we visited Fiskars village and I got to know a new design company, Deka Design, that had opened a summer shop called Deka Studio. Deka Design was founded by Lasse and Helena Kinnunen in Brisbane, Australia. They were showing their products for the second time in Fiskars where they spend the summers. Beautiful wooden furniture, interesting materials, simple lines... You can guess that I loved the products. The leather lamp shades for example were really beautiful and also the cushions with pictures of Fiskars on them were nice.  I bought a leather bracelet that I used basically all the time for the rest of the summer. Did anyone else visit this shop?

Kokomusta sivupöytä

(FI) Minulle tuli viikonloppuna kiire maalata työhuoneen uuden sivupöydän tasot mustiksi, kun tajusin, ettei maalaus enää kohta onnistu ulkona, ja mustaa spraymaalia en toiste käytä sisätiloissa (sekin typerä moka on tullut tehtyä). Keli ei ilmeisesti ollut ihan ihanteellinen lämpötilan ja tuuliolosuhteitten puolesta ja ehkä kuivumisajatkin menivät kerrosten välissä jotenkin pieleen, sillä etenkin ylätasosta tuli hieman läikikäs. Alataso sentään on melko tasaisen mattamusta niin kuin pitikin. Kolmatta maalikerrosta ei spraypullosta olisi enää riittänyt, joten pöytä saa toistaiseksi kelvata tuollaisena. Nyt on ainakin hyvä (teko)syy keksiä ylätasoon jokin muu materiaali. Kuvia pöydästä ennen maalaamista löydät täältä.

(IT) Lo scorso fine settimana ho dovuto mettermi in fretta a verniciare il nuovo tavolino che sta nel mio studio perché ho capito che tra poco non si riesce più a farlo fuori e non ho proprio intenzione di usare la vernice spray nero più dentro (sì, ho fatto anche quell'errore una volta). La temperatura e le condizioni di vento non erano proprio ottimali e probabilmente anche il tempo che ho aspettato tra le passate non era proprio giusto. Il risultato è che specialmente la superficie del ripiano superiore non è venuto benissimo. Quella del ripiano inferiore invece è piuttosto omogenea e opaca come doveva essere. Non avevo più abbastanza vernice fare una terza passata quindi per il momento il tavolino deve andare bene così com'è. Ora ho pure un buon motivo (o scusa) per sostituire il ripiano superiore con un altro materiale. Qui si possono vedere foto del tavolino non ancora verniciato.

(EN) Last weekend I had to quickly paint my new home office console table because I realized that soon it's not possible to paint outside anymore and I'm not going to use black spraypaint inside anymore (yes, I've tried also that and it was stupid). The temperature and the wind conditions weren't probably quite ideal and maybe also the timing wasn't quite right because especially the top surface is a bit uneven. The lower shelf at least is quite nice and matt as it was supposed to be. There was not enough paint left for a third layer so the table remains like this for the moment. And now I have a good reason (or an excuse) for changing the top to another material. Here you can find pictures of the table before I painted it.
