Bertoia Side Chair

(FI) Tämän vuoden ensimmäinen vintage-löytö piti käydä hakemassa Hampurista, mutta kaupunkiin oli sopivasti muutakin asiaa, joten noutu sujui samalla reissulla, ja paluumatkalla auton takakontissa matkusti kromipintainen Bertoian Side Chair. Istuinpehmusteen siniharmaa väri ei ole ihan sitä, minkä itse olisin valinnut, mutta kun sain koko tuolin suunnilleen pelkän pehmusteen hinnalla, en anna sellaisen pikkuseikan häiritä. Tarkasta valmistusajankohdasta ei ole tietoa, mutta epäilen jotakin 80-lukua, sillä tuolin runkoon ei ole vielä painettu Knollin merkkiä vaan se lukee pelkässä pehmusteessa. Aitoutta minulla ei ole kuitenkaan mitään syytä epäillä, sillä mitat ja muut yksityiskohdat täsmäävät Knollin tuoleihin. Lisäksi luin jostakin, että istuinpehmuste on hyvä todiste aitoudesta, sillä harva ostaa feikkituoliin aitoa pehmustetta. Tuoli on erinomaisessa kunnossa, ainoastaan jalkojen alaosan kromipinnassa on jokunen pieni jälki. Otin nämä kuvat olohuoneessa, mutta näytän myöhemmin, minne tuoli oikeasti meillä sijoittui.

(IT) Abbiamo dovuto andare ad Hamburgo a prendere il mio primo acquisto vintage di quest'anno ma avevamo anche un altro motivo per andarci quindi non è stato un problema. Al ritorno nel bagagliaio della macchina viaggiava quindi una sedia Side Chair di Bertoia. Non avrei sicuramente scelto il cuscino nel color azzurro-grigio ma siccome ho pagato tutta la sedia quanto costerebbe il solo cuscino nuovo non lascio un dettaglio del genere disturbarmi. Non so l'età esatta della sedia ma proviene dal periodo in cui non si metteva ancora il marchio nella struttura ma sono nel cuscino. Comunque non ho dubbi sull'autenticità della sedia perche le dimensioni e gli altri dettagli sembrano quelli delle sedie di Knoll. Ho anche letto che il cuscino è una buona prova dell'autenticità perché non è molto probabilme che qualcuno compri un cuscino autentico per una copia. La condizione della sedia è ottima, ci sono solo alcuni segni nella cromatura proprio in basso. Ho fatto queste foto nel soggiorno ma vi farò vedere più avanti qual'è il posto della sedia.

(EN) We had to fetch this year's first vintage find from Hamburg but we had to go there anyway so it wasn't a problem. So when we drove back we had also a Bertoia Side Chair in the car. I wouldn't have chosen the pale blue / gray colour for the cushion if I were able to choose but since the whole chair cost about as much as a new cushion I'm not complaining. I'm not sure of the age of the chair but it comes from the period when Knoll still didn't put their logo on the structure but only on the cushion. Anyway I'm not worried about the authenticity of the chair because also the dimensions and other details are right. I also read somewhere the the cushion is a good sign of authenticity because it's not very probable that someone buys an original cushion for a fake chair. The chair is really in an excellent condition, there are just a couple of spots in the chrome finish. I took these pictures in the living room but I'll show you later on where the chair found it's place.

Republic of Fritz Hansen

(FI) Palataan vielä hetkeksi Helsinkiin ja joululomaan. Kerroin aiemmassa postauksessa vierailustani Vitran uudessa liikkeessä ja nyt tarjoan katseltavaksi kuvia melkein sen naapurissa sijaitsevasta Republic of Fritz Hansen -myymälästä. Vitralla pääosassa olivat upeat designtuotteet, mutta Fritz Hansenilla kävijään tekee välittömästi vaikutuksen myymälän ylellinen ja kiehtova tunnelma, joka on luotu taitavasti seinien syvien ja pehmeän harmonisten värisävyjen avulla. Toki myös liikkeen ajattomista klassikoita ja kauniista pienesineistä muodostuva tuotevalikoima on edustava, ja pidin kovasti seinillä olevista suunnittelijoista kertovista infotauluista. Kaikesta todellakin huomaa, että myymälän ilmeen ja tuotevalikoiman takana on designalan monitaitaja Ulla Koskinen. Jos sisustusinspiraatio on hukassa, vierailu Fritz Hansenilla tarjoaa vaivaan tehokasta lääkettä. Itse tein liikkeessä yhden pienen mutta erittäin onnistuneen ostoksenkin, mutta siitä lisää toisella kerralla.

(IT) Ritorniamo ancora per un po' a Helsinki e alle vacanze di natale. Ho già raccontato della mia visita al nuovo negozio di Vitra e ora vi faccio vedere foto del negozio Republic of Fritz Hansen che è situatiato nello stesso isolato. Se da Vitra in primo piano erano i bei oggetti di design, da Fritz Hansen la cosa più impressionante è l'atmosfera lussuosa e affascinante del negozio, creato abilmente con sfumature profonde e armoniose delle pareti. Naturalmente anche i prodotti in vendita sono proprio belli ed eleganti e mi sono piaciuti molto i cartelloni appesi alle pareti con informazioni sui designer. Insomma, si nota in ogni dettaglio che dietro l'arredamento del negozio e la scelta dei prodotti c'è la bravissima Ulla Koskinen. Se ti manca l'ispirazione, consiglio caldamente una visita da Fritz Hansen. Io ho fatto anche un acquisto piccolo ma molto ben riuscito nel negozio ma ne parlerò di più in un altro post.

(EN) Let's return again for a moment in Helsinki and our Christmas holidays. I have already told you about my visit to the Vitra Store and now I'll show you pictures of the new Republic of Fritz Hansen Store situated almost next door. If the main focus at Vitra Store was clearly in the beautiful design products, at Fritz Hansen the visitor is immediately impressed by the luxurious and fascinating atmosphere of the store, created by skilful use of soft and deep tones on the walls. Of course also the selection of products is elegant and full of design classics and I really liked the designer info boards on the walls. Every detail of the shop tells that behind the interior design and selection is talented Ulla Koskinen. If you're lacking home decor inspiration, I warmly recommend a visit to the Fritz Hansen Store. I did also a small but pretty perfect purchase in the shop but I'll tell more about it in another post.

Kahvia ja lukuvinkkejä

(FI) Tytöillä oli tänään Suomi-koulu ja mies lähti kaupungille, joten sain jäädä lueskelemaan lehtiä ja juomaan lauantain aamukahvia kaikessa rauhassa. Schöner Wohnen -lehden helmikuun numerossa on juttu Mirkku Kullbergista ja hänen Berliinin kodistaan, joka esiteltiin kyllä jossakin vaiheessa jo italialaisessa Elle Decorissa. Suosittelen lukulistalle myös uusinta Elle Decor Italiaa, jota itse pääsen täällä lukemaan vain iPadilta. Siinä oli jälleen kerran aivan upeita asuntoja, ihan erityisesti pidin eräästä amsterdamilaiskodista. Jollei lehteä ole saatavilla, osaa aiemmissa numeroissa esitellyistä kodeista pääsee katsomaan myös lehden nettisivuilla.

(IT) Stamattina le figlie sono andata alla scuola finlandese e mio marito è andato in centro quindi ho potuto continuare sfogliare riviste e bere il mio caffè del sabato con calma. Nel numero di fabbraio della rivista Schöner Wohnen c'è un articolo su Mirkku Kullberg e sulla sua casa a Berlino. La casa l'avevo però già vista nella edizione italiana di Elle Decor. Consiglio anche di leggere l'ultimo numero di Elle Decor Italia che io riesco qui a leggere solo sull'iPad. Era pieno di case bellissime, specialmente una casa ad Amsterdam mi è piaciuta molto. E poi alcune case viste in numeri precedenti si possono vedere anche sul sito della rivista.

(EN) This morning the girls went to the Finnish school and my husband in the centre so I could read  read magazines and drink my Saturday morning coffee at leisure. In the Schöner Wohnen February issue there was an article on Mirkku Kullberg and her Berlin home that I had actually already seen in the Elle Decor Italian edition. I also recommend the latest issue of Elle Decor Italia that I can only read on my iPad here in Germany. It was full of wonderful homes and I especially liked one home situated in Amsterdam.
