Joulukuinen Helsinki

(FI) Kävin kuun vaihteessa muutaman päivän reissulla Helsingissä ja ehdin tehdä vaikka mitä mukavaa sen lisäksi, että hoidin tutkintoasiat kuntoon yliopistolla. Piipahdin muun muassa Arabian museolla (kuva yllä) ja TOKYO:n joulumyyjäisissä, kävin ystävien kanssa lounaalla, illallisella, kahvilla ja glögillä ja juhlin yksissä pikkujouluissa.

(IT) Ho passato alcuni giorni a Helsinki a cavallo del mese e sono riuscita a fare tante cose belle oltre a fare la domanda di laurea all'università. Ho tra l'altro visitato il museo di Arabia (foto sopra) e il mercatino di natale di TOKYO (unione degli studenti presso l'Università di Arte e Design di Helsinki), pranzato, cenato, preso un caffè oppure un vin brulé con amici e festeggiato a una festa di natale.

(EN) I spent a few days in Helsinki at the beginning of the month and managed to do lots of nice things beside submitting my diploma application at the university. Among other things, I visited the Arabia museum (picture above) and TOKYO's Christmas sale (TOKYO is the student association of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture in Helsinki), had lunch, dinner, coffee and mulled vine with friends and went to a Christmas party.

(FI) Kävin ihastelemassa Mrs Jonesin lifestyle shopin pop up -myymälää.

(IT) Sono andata a vedere il bellissimo negozio "pop-up" di Mrs Jones lifestyle shop.

(EN) I went to see Mrs Jones's wonderful pop-up shop.

(FI) Koristelin yksiötä parilla Mrs Jonesilta ostamallani Tine K Homen joulujutulla.

(IT) Ho decorato il monolocale con un paio di cose natalizie di Tine K Home comprate da Mrs Jones.

(EN) I decorated the studio apartment with the Tine K Home Christmas decorations I bought from Mrs Jones.

(FI) Tein vähän jouluostoksia pääasiassa Stockalla, Marimekon myymälässä ja Iittalan uudistuneessa Espan lippulaivamyymälässä, missä otin kaikki alla olevat kuvat. Olipa mukava reissu joka suhteessa!

(IT) Ho fatto un po' di shopping di natale da Stockmann, Marimekko e nel rinnovato flagship store di Iittala in Esplanadi dove ho fatto tutte le ultime foto. Il viaggio e stato veramente ben riuscito!

(EN) I did some Christmas shopping at Stockmann, Marimekko and the recently renovated Iittala flagship store in Esplanadi where I took the rest of the pictures. I really enjoyed every moment of this trip!

Kotoisasti kotona - cozy at home

(FI) Luzia Pimpinella kerää tänään kuvia kotoilusta. Minä lähetän teille lämpimät terveiset olohuoneen nurkasta, vaikka ulkona näkyy ensimmäisiä myrskyn merkkejä tuulen muututtua puuskittaiseksi. Toivottavasti vahingot jäävät tällä kertaa edellistä täällä päin riehunutta myrskyä vähäisemmiksi.

(IT) Oggi Luzia Pimpinella raccoglie foto che mostrano momenti di relax a casa. Io vi mando tanti calorosi saluti dall'angolo del nostro soggiorno anche se fuori si vedono già i primi segni della tempesta in arrivo. Speriamo solo che faccia meno danni che la volta precedente.

(EN)  Today Luzia Pimpinella collects photos under the theme "cozy at home". I'm sending you my warm greeting from a cozy corner in our living room, even though outside the wind is getting stronger and the storm is coming closer. Let's just hope there will be less damage than during the last storm.

Asumishistoriaa: keittiö

(FI) Palataan tällä kertaa ajassa taaksepäin ja kurkataan, miltä näytti ensimmäisen itse remontoimamme kodin keittiö. Kuvien laatua ei voi valitettavasti kehya, sillä kuvat on otettu keskellä pimeää talvea ensimmäisellä Canon Ixus -digipokkarillamme. Teräksinen välitilan tausta ja massiivipuutaso taisivat olla 2000-luvun alussa aika tyypillisiä materiaalivalintoja, vaikkei korkeakiiltoisia valkoisia ovia silloin vielä tahtonut löytyä mistään. Kaasuliesi oli meille asia, josta ei tingitty, ja kaasupullolle rakennettiinkin puinen kaappi parvekkeelle ja kaasuputki vedettiin seinän läpi sisälle. Arkkitehti Osmo Lapon suunnitteleman talon asunnoissa oli uskomattoman hyvä pohjaratkaisu ja keittiökin oli oikea tilaihme. Joitain valintoja tekisin nykyään varmasti toisin, mutta kokonaisuudesta pidän kyllä paljon edelleen.

(IT) Oggi torniamo indietro nel tempo e vediamo com'era la cucina del primo appartamento che abbiamo ristrutturato completamente. Purtroppo la qualità delle foto non è un granché perche sono state scattate con la nostra prima macchina fotografica Canon Ixus in pieno inverno con poca luce. Il fondo di acciaio e i ripiani di legno massiccio erano scelte abbastanza tipiche per l'inizio di questo millennio ma non era ancora per nulla facile trovare sportelli bianchi lucidi. Volevamo assolutamente una cucina a gas quindi abbiamo costruito sul balcone una scatola di legno per la bombola e istallato un tubo che passa attraverso il muro. Gli appartamenti del palazzo progettato dall'architetto Osmo Lappo erano divisi benissimo e anche la cucina era molto spaziosa e pratica. Ora farei sicuramente alcune scelte diverse ma in generale la cucina mi piace ancora tanto.

(EN) Today we return to the past and have a look at the kitchen of the first apartment we renovated completely. The quality of the photos is unfortunately quite poor since they were taken during the dark days of winter with our first Canon Ixus. The steel backsplash and the wooden counters were quite typical materials in the beginning of the millennium but it was really hard to find white high gloss kitchen cabinet doors. We absolutely wanted to have a gas stove so we built on the balcony a wooden box for the bottled gas and installed a gas tube that passed through the wall. The floor plans in this apartment building designed by architect Osmo Lappo were really efficient and also the kitchen was spacious and practical. I would probably do some things differently now but on the whole I still really like this kitchen.
