Thonetin Ring-pöydät

(FI) Olipas hauska huomata, että Thonetin tämän vuoden uutuuksien joukossa on Ring-pöytä, josta löytyy sekä sohvapöytämalli että alimmassa kuvassa näkyvä ruokapöytä. Ring on nimittäin selvästi hieman uudistettu versio työhuoneessani olevasta sohvapöydästä. Meillä oleva pöytä on ovaalin muotoinen, kun taas näiden uusien pöytien kansi on kulmikas, ja mittasuhteissakin on hieman eroa. Meidän vintageversio onkin vähän korkea sohvapöytien nykymitoituksiin verrattuna. Ring-pöytiä on myynnissä myös mustana, joten en mene kovin pahasti metsään, jos sudin oman pöytäni saman väriseksi. Millaiset tuolit sinä muuten yhdistäisit tuohon ruokapöytään? Itsellä lyö ihan tyhjää, kun yritän miettiä sopivaa yhdistelmää, mutta onneksi ongelma on täysin teoreettinen. Mukavaa viikonloppua!

(IT) È stata una sorpresa simpatica quando ho scoperto che tra le novità di Thonet di quest'anno c'è il tavolo Ring che è in vendita sia come tavolino che come tavolo da pranzo (nell'ultima foto). Ring è chiaramente una nuova versione del tavolino che ho nel mio studio. Il nostro tavolino è ovale ma i nuovi tavoli sono quadrati e anche le proporzioni sono un po' diverse. La nostra versione vintage è in effetti un po' alto paragonato ai tavolini d'oggi. I tavoli Ring sono in vendita anche in nero quindi non sbaglio molto se dipingo il mio tavolo con lo stesso colore. A proposito, voi che tipo di sedie abbinereste al tavolo da pranzo Ring? Io non saprei proprio cosa ci starebbe bene ma per fortuna non devo neanche scegliere niente. Buon fine settimana!

(EN) It was a nice surprise to notice that among Thonet's this year's novelties there's a table called Ring that is available as a coffee table but also as a dining table (in the last picture). The table is clearly a new version of the table I have in my home office. Our table is oval but the new tables are square and there's also a difference in the proportions. Our vintage version is in fact a bit high compared to the modern coffee table standards. The Ring table is sold also black so I'm not doing a big mistake if I paint my table in the same colour. By the way, what kind of chairs would you choose with the Ring dining table? I really wouldn't know but luckily I don't have to choose. Have a nice weekend!

Uuniomenoita ulkoilmassa

(FI) Täällä on ollut aivan ihana syksyinen viikonloppu, ja koska sääennusteet lupaavat ensi viikolla sateita ja kylmenevää, oli aika tehdä syyssiivous ulkotiloissa. Pihalta vietiin puutarhakalusteet kellariin ja minä kitkin jälleen kerran myös melkoisen määrän rikkaruohoja. Parvekkeelta heitin muutaman surkean näköisen kasvin pois ja osan siirsin kellarikerrokseen talvehtimaan. Pesin ja lakaisin parvekkeen pinnat kahteen kertaan ja sen jälkeen tila näytti niin viihtyisältä, että päätin kattaa meille välipalan ulos. Tuoleille hain lampaantaljat ja esikoinen teki meille uuniomenia, jotka tarjoiltiin vaniljakastikkeen kera. Juotavaksi termarillinen kuumaa teetä ja neule vielä niskaan, niin ulkona oli aivan ihana istuskella. En sitten lopulta vienytkään parveketuoleja vielä kellariin siinä toivossa, että tulee vielä jokunen lämmin päivä. Mukavaa alkavaa viikkoa!

(IT) Abbiamo avuto un fine settimana con tempo fantastico e siccome le previsioni dicono che la settimana prossima il tempo cambierà abbiamo fatto un po´di pulizie di autunno fuori. Abbiamo portato i mobili di giardino dentro e io ho tolto una quantità enorme di erbaccia dalle aiuole. Sul balcone ho buttato via qualche pianta sofferente e alcune ho portato giù in cantina per il periodo invernale. Ho pulito tutte le superfici due volte e alla fine il balcone sembrava così invitante che ho deciso di apparecchiare il tavolo lì per fare merenda. Ho messo pelli di pecora sulle sedie e la primogenita ha preparato mele cotte al forno che abbiamo mangiato con crema alla vaniglia. Abbiamo bevuto tè caldo e con un maglione ci si stava benissimo. Alla fine non ho ancora portato via le sedie nella speranza che avremo ancora qualche giornata più calda. Buona settimana!

(EN) We have had a fantastic weather this weekend and since the weather forecasts say the situation will change next week it was time to do some autumn cleaning. We carried the garden furniture inside and I weeded the garden one more time. On the balcony I threw away a couple of plants that weren't doing too well and brought some others in the basement for the winter. I cleaned all the surfaces twice and after that the balcony looked so nice that I decided to lay the table for an afternoon snack there. I put a sheepskin on the chairs and our older daughter prepared some baked apples that were served with vanilla custard. We drank hot tea and with a pullover on it was really nice to sit outside. At the end I didn't take the chairs to the basement yet because I hope we'll still have some warm days ahead this autumn. Have a lovely week!

Amsterdamin lumoissa

(FI) Kesäloman lopussa tekemämme reissu Amsterdamiin oli kaikin puolin onnistunut ja ihastuimme kaikki kaupunkiin kovasti. Valokuvat sen sijaan eivät olleet ihan yhtä onnistuneita, sillä otin suurimman osan niistä kanaviristeilyllä liikkuvasta veneestä käsin. Teimme risteilyn pienen veneen kyydissä, mikä oli todella hyvä valinta, sillä pääsimme myös pienille kanaville, joiden varrella oli runsaasti kelluvia koteja eli asuntolaivoja. Veneen ystävällinen kapteeni päästi lisäksi juuri samana päivänä synttäreitä viettäneen kuopuksen vähäksi aikaa ruoriin ohjaamaan paattia. Kyseinen syntymäpäivä ei varmasti unohdu ihan äkkiä. Ihan hyvin se sujui ja ainoa törmäys toiseen veneeseen oli rupattelemaan keskittyneen kapteenin itsensä syytä. Poimin tähän nyt onnistuneimpia kuvia, mutta oli näissäkin vähän muokkaamista. Onneksi on Lightroom :)

(IT) Il viaggio che abbiamo fatto ad Amsterdam proprio prima della fine delle vacanze estive è stato veramente ben riuscito e la città ci è piaciuta tantissimo. Le foto invece non sono riuscite tanto bene perché ho scattato la maggior parte durante il giro in barca in movimento. Abbiamo fatto il giro in una barca piccola e la scelta è stata proprio giusta perché siamo riusciti ad andare anche nei canali piccoli dove c'erano tante case galleggianti. Il gentile capitano ha pure dato alla nostra secondogenita la possibilità di guidare la barca per un po' ed era il suo compleanno proprio quel giorno. Mi sa che è uno di quei compleanni che si ricorderà per sempre. È andato tutto benissimo, l'unica volta che siamo andati a sbattere contro un'altra barca era colpa del capitano stesso che si era distratto. Queste foto sono quelle riuscite meglio e le ho dovuto trattare un bel po'. Meno male c'è Lightroom :)

(EN) Our trip to Amsterdam at the end of the summer holidays was just perfect and we all fell in love with the city. The pictures instead didn't turn out quite as well because I took most of them during a canal cruise on board a moving boat. We chose a cruise in a small boat and it was a wise decision because we could enter also in the smaller canals and see lots of houseboats. The captain was really kind and let our younger daughter steer the boat for a while and it was her birthday that day. I'm pretty sure she will remember this special birthday forever. It went just fine and the only time we bumped into another boat it was because the captain himself was a bit distracted. Here are some of the best pictures I got but I still had to retouch them quite a bit. I'm so happy I have Lightroom in my computer :)
