Milano 2018: Gubi

(FI) Vaikka Milanon designviikosta ehti jo vierähtää hetkinen ja olette kenties ehtineet jo nähdä runsaasti kuvia sieltä, ajattelin kuitenkin tehdä muutamam blogipostauksen omista suosikeistani. Ensimmäisenä vuorossa on tanskalaisbrändi Gubi, joka esitteli tuotteitaan eräässä upeimmista kohteista, Palazzo Serbellonissa. 

Erityisen kiinnostavan 1200 m2 laajuisesta näyttelystä teki se, että täällä esiteltiin myös Paavo Tynellin valaisinten uustuotantoversiot, joita voi bongailla kuvista. Interiöörit itsessään mielettömine kukka-asetelmineen olivat niin henkeäsalpaavan upeita, että huoneita olisi voinut kierrellä vaikka koko päivän. 

Tässä siis vähän herkkupaloja, toivottavasti tykkäätte!

(IT) Anche se è già passato un po' di tempo dal Salone del mobile, voglio fare qualche post sulle mie cose preferite. Comincio dall'allestimento della ditta danese Gubi che ha presentato la sua selezione prodotti in uno dei posti più belli di Milano, il Palazzo Serbelloni.

Per me questa esposizione, distesa in uno spazio di 1200 m2, era specialmente interessante visto che in mostra c'erano anche le lampade del designer finlandese Paavo Tynell che Gubi ha ripreso in produzione. In effetti so possono trovare in alcune delle foto. Gli spazi arredati erano tanto belli con mazzi di fiori stupendi che avrei potuto passare una giornata intera girando queste stanze.

Eccovi quindi un po' di eleganza danese, spero vi piaccia!

(EN) It's already some weeks since I went to Milan for Salone del Mobile and you have probably already seen lots of material on it, but I still want to write a few posts on my own favourites. I'll start with the Danish brand Gubi that showed their collection in one of the most beautiful places of Milan, in Palazzo Serbelloni

On of the things that made this exhibition so interesting for me was the fact that Gubi presented here the Paavo Tynell collection they have taken again in production. You can spot some of these lights in the pictures. The interiors were built so beautifully and the flowers arrangements were so stunning that I would have spent the whole day just walking around these rooms.

So here's some eye candy for you, I hope you like it!

The Visit

(FI) The Visit oli minun ja aika monen muunkin mielestä eräs Milanon designviikkojen kiinnostavimmista kohteista. Studiopepen sisustamaa asuntoa pääsi katsomaan vain varaamalla ajan, ja kuvatakin sain vain luvattuani, etten tee postausta, ennen kuin italialainen Living-lehti on tässä kuussa julkaissut oman juttunsa kohteesta. Nyt lehti on ilmestynyt, joten minäkin pääsen esittelemään teille tätä Brera Design Apartmentin tiloissa sijainnutta huoneistoa.

The Visitin tarkoitus ei ollut kertoa vain tietyn paikan tarinaa vaan teemana oli vierailun rituaali, johon sisältyvät isännät ja vieraat ja isäntien koti, joka heijastelee heidän sielunmaisemaansa. The Visit on kaupunkilaisten intiimi asunto, joka on täynnä hyvää mieltä ja oloa tuottavia asioita ja esineitä. Kerroksellinen sisustus yhdistelee vanhojen mestarien klassikkoja ja uudempaa designia ja värikkäät ja graafiset seinät viittaavat muun muassa Mondrianin maalaustaiteeseen ja Bauhaus-koulukuntaan. Pehmeyttä tilaan luovat näyttävät tekstiilit verhojen, mattojen ja ryijyjen muodossa. Makuuhuoneen vuode on pedattu Shuj:n ylellisillä silkkilakanoilla.

Omaan kotiin en ihan näin värikästä sisustusta kaipaa, mutta monta upeaa yksittäistä juttua olisin tuolta miellelläni poiminut mukaan. Visuaalisesti virkistävä kokemus tässä asunnossa vierailu ainakin oli, tuntui vähän kuin olisi kävellyt taulun sisällä. Lisätietoa asunnosta ja sen sisustuksesta löytyy täältä.

(IT) Secondo me uno degli eventi più interessanti della settimana del design milanese è stato The Visit. Questo l'appartamento arredato da Studiopepe si poteva visitare solo su appuntamento e mi hanno dato il permesso di fotografare solo quando ho promesso di non fare il blog post prima che la rivista Living abbia pubblicato il loro articolo dedicato al progetto. Ora il numero di maggio della rivista è uscita quindi posso mostrarvi questa istallazione fatta in collaborazione con Brera Design Apartment.

The Visit non vuole raccontare la storia di un posto ma il rito della visita che include i padroni di casa, gli ospiti e la casa che riflette la personalità dei proprietari. The Visit è una casa intima in città, piena di oggetti e cose che portano gioia e ti fanno sentire bene. L'arredamento combina classici pezzi dei designer storici con design più moderno e le pareti grafici e colorati fanno riferimento per esempio a Mondrian e al movimento Bauhaus. Tessuti come tappeti e tende in velluto rendono l'arredo più morbido e accogliente. Il letto nella camera da letto è vestito con la raffinata biancheria letto in seta di Shuj. 

Non mi troverei molto bene con tanti colori forti a casa ma c'erano tante singole cose che non mi dispiacerebbero affatto. Visitare questo posto è stata un'esperienza estetica rinfrescante, un po' come camminare dentro un quadro. Per più informazioni su The Visit e l'arredamento vedere qui.

(EN) The Visit was in my opinion one of the most interesting events during the Milan Design Week. You could visit this apartment designed by Studiopepe only by appointment and I was only allowed to take pictures after I promised not to write the post before the Italian Living magazine has published their article on the place. Now the May issue is out so I can finally show you this installation made in collaboration with Brera Design Apartment.

The Visit didn't want to just tell the story of a place but of the ritual of a visit that includes the hosts, the guests and a home that reflects the inner spirit of the owners. The Visit is an intimate town apartment, full of objects that give you pleasure and make you feel good. The layered interior combines legendary classics with new design and the colourful and graphic wall paintings refer to Mondrian and the Bauhaus movement. Rugs, velvet curtains and other textiles bring softness to the interior. The bed in the bedroom is dressed with luxurious silk bed linen by Shuj.

I wouldn't feel comfortable having so many strong colours in my own home but there were several objects that I really wouldn't mind having. Visiting this place was a visually refreshing experience, a bit like walking inside a painting. You can find more information on The Visit and the products used here.

Suomalaiset designviikolla

(FI) Tänä vuonna Milanossa oli selkeästi vähemmän suomalaisyrityksiä kuin parina edellisenä, mutta ihan komeasti suomalaista muotoilua kuitenkin taas esiteltiin maailmalle.  Aalto-yliopiston ja Habitaren järjestämä Nakuna-näyttely järjestettiin upeissa puitteissa Circolo Filologicossa. Esillä oli mm. nuorten suunnittelijoiden kaiutinmuotoilua, puuesineitä ja materiaalikokeiluja.Laavusta tarjoiltiin yleisölle suomalaisia marjoja ja sieniä ja lähdevedestä jäädytettyjä "mehujäitä". Oli siellä niitä nakujakin, tosin vain kankaalle heijastettuina kuvina.

Messukeskuksessa uutuuksiaan esittelivät Secto, Showroom Finland ja SAAS Instruments Eurolucen puolella. Toimistokalusteita esittelevässä hallissa ergonimisia ratkaisuja tarjosivat vierekkäin Salli ja Humantool. Designhalleissa paikalla olivat tutut nimet Inno, Nikari ja Woodnotes. Innon Lab XL -nojatuolille täytyy antaa erityismaininta erinomaisesta istumamukavuudesta ja edustavan näköisestä taustapuolesta.

Fuorisalonesta löytyi vielä yksi suomalaiskohde, jonka takana oli Made by Choice. Lasse Laineen, Sebastian Janssonin ja Niclas Ahlströmin perustama yritys valmistaa puusepäntyönä huonekaluja, joita suunnittelemassa on useita muotoilijoita. Tavoitteet ovat kovat eli skandinaavista muotoilua ollaan viemässä vauhdilla maailmalle.

(IT) Quest'anno a Milano c'erano meno ditte finlandesi degli anni precedenti ma il design finlandese è stato comunque presentato al mondo in modo orgoglioso. La mostra Nakuna (nudo), organizzato dall'Università Aalto e dalla fiera Habitare era situato in un luogo bellissimo, il Circolo Filologico. Erano esposti tra l'altro altoparlanti, oggetti in legno e prove di materiali nuovi di designer giovani. C'erano anche delle persone nude, però solo come riflessi sulla tela. Da "Laavu" si offrivano ai visitatori bacche e giacchioli fatti di acqua di una sorgente finlandese.

Alla fiera nell'area Euroluce mostravano le loro novità Secto, Showroom Finland e SAAS Instruments. Salli e Humantools proponevano le loro soluzioni ergonomiche nel padiglione che mostra soluzioni per spazi ufficio. Nei padiglioni di design si trovavano nomi ormai famosi: Inno, Nikari e Woodnotes. Bisogna proprio menzionare che la poltrona Lab XL di Inno era veramente comodissima e molto bella anche vista da dietro.

Nel Fuorisalone c'era ancora un posto piccolo che mostrava i prodotti finlandesi della ditta Made by Choice. Gli uomini dietro il marchio, Lasse Laine, Sebastian Jansson e Niclas Ahlström, producono mobili in legno di vari designer e puntano in alto, cioè vogliono portare il loro design scandinavo in tutto il mondo.

(EN) This year in Milan there were less Finnish companies than the previous years but the Finnish design was still shown splendidly. Exhibition Nakuna (naked), organized by Aalto University and Habitare fair was situated in beautiful surroundings in the Circolo Filologico. Among other things, it showed loudspeakers, wooden objects and material experiments by young designers. From Laavu the students served Finnish berries and mushrooms and popsicles made with Finnish springwater. Yes, there were also naked people but only as reflections on a screen.

In the Euroluce area of the fair center new products were presented by Secto, Showroom Finland and SAAS Instruments. Salli and Humantool showed their ergonomical solutions in the office furniture hall. In the design halls I found some familiar names, that is Inno, Nikari and Woodnotes. I must give a special mention to the easy chair  Lab XL -by Inno, it was extremely comfortable and also the backside looks really good.

At the Fuorisalone there was still a small exhibition space by Made by Choice. The company, founded by Lasse Laine, Sebastian Jansson and Niclas Ahlström, produces wooden furniture designed by various designers. The targets are set high, the men want to sell their scandinavian design globally.
