Adventtisunnuntaina

(FI) Hyvää ensimmästä adventtia! Avasimme eilen joulukauden vieton ja kävimme ystävien kanssa Bremenin joulumarkkinoilla juomassa pari lasillista Glühweinia. Tänään olen ollut ahkera ja olen jo sutinut eteisen lipastoon ensimmäisen kerroksen grafiitinharmaata kalkkimaalia. Olipa ihanaa, kun ei tarvinnut hioa pintoja ennen maalaamista! Eiköhän siitäkin projektista tule valmista hyvissä ajoin ennen joulua, jollei tule vastoinkäymisiä matkaan. Löysin yhdestä lähellä olevasta pikkukaupasta adventtiaikaan sopivaa teetä, jota ostin ihan vain hienon purkia takia, mutta onneksi sentään teekin on ihan hyvää.

(IT) Buona prima domenica d'avvento! Ieri abbiamo iniziato i festeggiamenti del periodo di natale e siamo andati con gli amici a bere un paio di bicchieri di Glühwein al mercatino natalizio. Oggi sono stata proprio efficiente e ho dato la prima passata di vernice gessosa grigia al mobile dell'ingresso. Che bello che non ho dovuto grattare le superfici con la carta vetrata prima di verniciare! Il mobile sarà  pronto abbastanza presto se non incontrerò problemi. Ho trovato del thè d'avvento in un negozietto vicino a casa e l'ho comprato solo perché il barattolo era così carino. Meno male che anche il thè è comunque buono.

(EN) I wish you a nice first Advent! Yesterday we opened the Christmas period celebrations and went to drink a couple of cups of Glühwein at the Christmas market. Today I have been really efficient and have given the first coat of chalk paint to the entry hall dresser. It was really great that I didn't have to sand the surfaces before painting! The painting project will be ready pretty soon if there won't be any problems. I found some tea for the advent period in a small shop near our home and bought it just for the nice can. Luckily also the tea is quite good.

Koristelua

(FI) Haimme tällä viikolla jo joulukoristelaatikot kellarista ja jouluisia kukkia lähikukkakaupasta. Punaisten oksien oli tarkoitus mennä toiseen maljakkkoon ja amaryllisten toiseen, mutta valkoisten amaryllisten varret olivat niin paksuja, etten saanut kolmea sopimaan samaan maljakkoon, joten kukka-astelmista tulikin nyt tuollaiset yhdistelmät. Summer Housesta löysin ajopuusta tehdyn tähtikoristeen portaikon välioveen ja Sisiliasta tuotu keramiikkakäpy on saanut seurakseen aitoja yksilöitä ja tuikkukuppeja. Olohuoneen ikkunassa on jo paperinen joulutähti, jonka kuvaa voi kurkata Instagramista. Vierashuoneen ikkunaan tuleva tähti sen sijaan pitää vielä etsiä jostakin laatikosta. Joko teillä on joulukoristelut aloitettu? Mukavaa viikonloppua!

(IT) Durante la settimana abbiamo preso dalla cantina le scatole con le decorazioni di natale e comprato un po' di fiori natalizi dal fioraio vicino. Pensavo di mettere i rametti con le bacche rosse in un vaso e gli amaryllis bianchi in un altro ma gli steli degli amaryllis sono così spessi che non ci entrano più di due in un vaso. Ho trovato da Summer House una stella fatta con pezzi di legno e la pigna di ceramica portata dalla Sicilia è circondata da pigne vere e da portalumini. Ho appeso alla finestra del soggiorno una stella di carta che potete vedere su Instragram. La stella che voglio mettere nella stanza per gli ospiti sta invece ancora nascosta in qualche scatola. Avete già iniziato a decorare la casa per natale? Buon fine settimana!

(EN) During the week we took the Christmas decoration boxes from the cellar and I bought some Christmassy flowers at the nearby flower shop. I intended to put the branches with red berries in one vase and the white amaryllis in another but the amaryllis stems were so thick that three of them just didn't fit in a vase. I found a star made of driftwood at Summer House and added on the coffee table around the ceramic cone some real cones and tealight holders. There's also a paper star in the living room window and you can see a picture of it on Instagram. The star that I want to put in the guest room window is still hiding in some box, though. Seinällä

(FI) Työhuoneen seinä oli huutanut tyhjyyttään siitä lähtien, kun huonekalut löysivät paikkansa. Mieluisin vaihtoehto seinälle olisi iso näyttävä maalaus, mutta sellaisilla on vähän turhan paljon hintaa, etenkin kun nykyinen asuntoratkaisu jatkuu joka tapauksessa vain miehen työkomennuksen ajan eikä isolle taululle ole jatkossa välttämättä paikkaa. Kun haimme second hand -kalusteita myyvästä liikkeestä tyttären huoneeseen tulleen netistä bongaamani kirjahyllyn, huomasin liikkeessä ison taulunkehyksen, jonka nappasin mukaan. Kehyksessä oli kiinni rikkinäinen taustapahvi, jonka revin kokonaan irti ja nyt tyhjä kehys koristaa seinää vierassängyn yläpuolella. Puuapinallekin löytyi jälleen käyttöä, sillä se rikkoo sopivasti kehyksen muotoa ja antaa kontrastia sen juhlavalle tyylille. Kehykseen voisi tietenkin teettää peilin, mutta minusta se toimii ihan kivasti tuollaisenaankin. Olen sen sijaan ehtinyt vaihtaa huoneen maton jo kaksi kertaa näiden kuvien ottamisen jälkeen ja nyt pienen mattokriisin jälkeen lattialla on jälleen Ikean mustavalkoinen Stockholm-matto.

(IT) La parete del mio studio mi è sempre sembrato troppo vuota e anche se mi piacerebbe averci un grande dipinto sono un po' troppo costosi, specialmente visto che non abitiamo in questa casa in modo permanente e non è detto avremo in futuro un posto adatto per un quadro del genere. Quando abbiamo preso la piccola libreria per la stanza di mia figlia da un negozio che vende mobili usati, ho visto una grande cornice dorata e ho preso pure quella. Ho tolto il cartone rotto attaccato alla cornice e ora la cornice vuota è appesa sopra il letto per gli ospiti. La scimmia di legno rompe visualmente la forma severa della cornice e dà un bel contrasto di stile, quindi ci vuole proprio. Sarebbe sicuramente possibile far istallare uno specchio nella cornice ma almeno per il momento mi va bene così. Dopo aver scattato queste foto ho però già cambiato il tappeto due volte e dopo una piccola crisi ci ho rimesso il tappeto Stockholm di Ikea in bianco e nero.

(EN) The wall in my home office had seemed too empty ever since we got all the furniture in. I would really love to have a big painting there but they're quite expensive and since we're living in this house temporarily and don't know if we'll have a place for such a painting in the future it doesn't make sense to do such an investment. When we went to pick up the bookshelf for my daughter's room from a store that sells second hand furniture, I noticed a big golden frame and bought also that one. I removed the broken cardboard attached to the frame and now the empty frame is hanging above the guest bed. The wooden monkey breaks the rigorous form and gives some nice contrast to the frame's style. I'm sure I could also have a mirror installed to the frame but for the moment I quite like it the way it is. I have changed the rug twice after taking these pictures, though, and after a small crisis the black and white Ikea Stockholm rug is back in this room.
