The Double Dream of Spring

(FI) Näiden kuvien näyttävä installaatio The Double Dream of Spring sijaitsi Breran kaupunginosassa Herman Millerin showroomilla. Installaatio esitteli Michael Anastassiadesin suunnittelemia uusia elegantin vähäeleisiä pähkinäpuisia ja valkotammisia Spot-jakkaroita ja Stasis-pöytiä. Huoneen ja kalusteiden mittakaavan välinen jännite sai Anastassiadesin korostamaan tilan kokoa jättimäisillä valaisimilla, jotka hän suunnitteli installaatiota varten omalle tuotemerkilleen. Ruudukko taas viittaa sakkilautaan, jonka nappuloita kalusteet ovat. Seinässä olevan melko pienen messinkipallon funktio jäi itselleni hämäräksi, mutta ainakin se heijasteli jännästi ympäröivää tilaa. (IT) L'impressionante istallazione The Double Dream of Spring che si vede in queste foto si trovava nello showroom di Herman Miller a Brera. Presentava i nuovi lineari ed eleganti sgabelli Spot e tavolini Stasis in legno di noce e rovere bianco, progettati da Michael Anastassiades. La tensione tra la scala dello spazio e quella dei mobili ha dato ad Anastassiades l'idea di sottolineare le dimensioni dello spazio con lampade che sono come delle sculture enormi, progettate dal suo proprio marchio apposta per l'istallazione. La griglia invece riferisce a una scacchiera su cui i mobili posizionati come i pezzi. Non ho capito la funzione della pallina di ottone attaccata alla parete ma almeno rifletteva in modo interessante l'ambiente circostante. (EN) The Double Dream of Spring, the incredible installation in these pictures was situated in Brera i the Herman Miller showroom. It showed the new simple and elegant Spot stools and Stasis tables in walnut and white oak, designed by Michael Anastassiades. The tension between the scale of the space and that of the furniture gave Anastassiades the idea of enhancing the dimensions of the space with huge scuptural lighting his own brand designed for the installation. The grid instead represents a chessboard where pieces of furniture are placed like chess pieces. I didn't quite get the function of the quite small brass ball on the wall but at least it showed an interesting reflection of the surrounding space.
